In an attempt to cheer up after getting the worst news of her life, my mother stopped in Summit Zoo Pets in Lee's Summit, Mo. She just had to check out the Giant Schnauzer puppy her baby girl had talked nonstop about meeting weeks prior. As she tearfully approached the owner, Jimmy Taylor, in an attempt to purchase her with the thought of Charlie being with her baby girl in a few years when she will not, Jimmy made the unbelievable decision to let my mother take the puppy home free of charge. He was also there to console her and help her select a large amount of toys, dog food, and a properly fitted collar and leash combo for purchase. Our family can not find the words to properly express our loving gratitude for not only being with my mother after the news but also helping her give our baby girl the puppy of her dreams that day. Very friendly atmosphere and awesome employees, especially a young woman named Ray! She was very helpful, knowledgeable, and answered all my questions. If you’re looking for a good place to shop for your fur babies I definitely recommend and ask for Ray!

Pretty good place I can say they give good care to the birds for sure. The staff especially 1 younger gentleman is highly knowledgeable on their birds especially. I would give 5 stars but they did still try to sell me some inappropriate things for my hermit crabs so once they stop things like that I'll GLADLY give 5 stars. Luckily the kid was knowledgeable on hermit food they do sell commercial food but it's not appropriate. I'm very happy with the staff I've been quite a few times and am going to hate to see my favorite staff member be gone when he goes on his trip later this year.

THEY HAVE A GOAT! This is so awesome! I love seeing independent pet stores. Employees were fantastic. Went to look at their reptule section and I was not disappointed. Their reptile cages were awesome! Naturalistic, clean, not overcrowded. Their prices were a little crazy, but I get that cost markups need to happen. Definitely will be back for dog food, as they carry some different brands that I want to research more, but may be great for my pups. I would rate 4.5 stars due to the fact they have puppies for sale. With that being said, kennels were super clean and the dogs looked healthy. I support adopt dont shop!

They’re pretty nice here. A girl named ray was so cool and helped get me a puppy. She even helped set up our dog’s new life. Her name is Bostyn and we love her so much!

I called ahead of time and Jay was so helpful and informative on the puppy I was looking at since I had to drive 3 hours to the store. This is a beautiful store and they have every kid of puppy you would want. I was disappointed because the puppy I wanted to see had already been sold and they don’t hold, especially for a week. I’m not one for all the details they go over and was respected and really appreciated that. I came home with a sweet little girl for my husband who was finally ready to replace his companion BooBoo. The stuff I came home with is amazing. The bitter apple deterent spray WORKS! I’ve pulled out the wipes, and will need to use the cleaner. The pup loves the treats and the crates with the false back is perfect for the tiny Boston Terrier I brought home. And yes, Brian was absolutely correct telling me I would need a variety of toys and suggested I did not put back the extra ones I picked out.It will be a while before Pepper can go to work with the hubby, but she is fitting in perfectly with my 5 month old 9 lb kitten 😂😂

Wow! What a wonderful experience I had to get my cockapoo and new family member! Everyone is super friendly, very professional, and there to serve you! If you want help selecting a pet, be sure to ask for Raylen! She is amazing! She kept in constant contact with me throughout the whole process and spent an hour and half with me the day I took my puppy home!

This is maybe the best pet and pet supply store ever. Helpful, knowledgeable and happy staff. Great selections on food, treats, toys, equipment and healthy pets for sale. Everything was fresh and clean too. I highly recommend this store.

The people are very nice here. I brought my dog in to get her nails trimmed(only $12), but I guess my dog was being a little aggressive so they weren’t able to do the service, which I totally understand considering my dog is large.

It’s extra shameful that a store pumping out puppy mill dogs is pretending to be an innocent small business. I looked up a few of their breeders via USDA certs and, sure enough, their puppies are from facilities that have tons of breeding adults. Aka, puppy mills. I’ve participated in rehab work with adult dogs rescued from similar facilities and they are undersocialized and traumatized after life in small pens, being overbred and living in conditions that would deeply disturb the general public - you all wouldn’t believe what the USDA deems acceptable. Don’t give this company a cent.

This store has always had amazing service and they treated the customers well. But something has changed. The employees were rude and were talking about customers to other customers. They have not had some of the live critters for the exotic animals. I hope that after the holidays now things can get back to normal. We used to love going there. Fingers crossed

I’m so thankful to have stumbled upon this place. They have amazing selection of fish and reptiles. And Of course the cuddly cuties like rabbis, chinchilla, hamsters, terrors, mice. They also adopt dogs.I spoke with Brian who was so friendly and knowledgeable.The whole staff was so friendly and helpful. And all the animals look to be taken care of and loved. As all their cages were pristine!Beautiful store and family run, I’m going to be supporting them every chance I get.

First impressions were great! When my family and I first walked in, we were greeted by the owner who offered to take us on a tour. He then took us to the fish pond where he let my daughter feed the fish! We then continued on through the store with Brian who was very helpful and informative. Store was very organized and clean! Jake was incredibly helpful and a wealth of knowledge. He taught us so much about our leopard gecko and set us up for success long term. Amazing service and great prices, super personable! We are so grateful for his time and kindness.

My mother and I went to Summit Zoo just to look at their dogs. We met a wonderful girl name Lexie, who was so excited to help us. She showed us a 14 week old female golden doodle and told us all about her. She was beyond helpful and knowledgeable about the animals. I think she was as excited for my mom as my mom was getting a new puppy. She walked around with us and helped us pick out some toys, bowls, shampoo, etc. She was such a joy. Summit Zoo is definitely the place to go for an animal. Not to mention the clean and inviting environment. The entire staff was knowledgeable and friendly.

Went in today and had an amazing experience! Lexi and Brian let us play with a few different dogs. Lexi was very quick to see which dog my son was most excited about. Brian was very helpful with letting us play with a very sweet 6 year old Rottweiler (Carissa) and also told us about a sale and helped us get checked out.Every time I've gone in, it has been a great experience. Everyone is so friendly and very knowledgeable about the different animals. They really care about every animal they have as well as every pet that comes in with their owner!Their prices are lower than other pet store prices. I highly recommend Summit Zoo Pets!

Great little petstore. Seems to be kept up pretty well. Puppies all look healthy and staff very friendly. Prices are great compared to Petland. Will be purchasing from them soon.
