EDIT AS OF FEB 7th, 2024*** I thought I would try the grooming service it’s 5 minutes away. I have a little Morkie. The first photo below of him when he went just for a nail trim a few months back. The second photo is from a HORRIFIC GROOMING EXPERIENCE!!! I had to call after 6 hours when I didn’t hear my baby was ready. Only to discover that my baby-6 mo old was anxious and they had to give him a different groomer ok-never notified me that they were going to basically SKIN him. She also cut his ear and his neck. VISIBLE cuts. When she called me to finally come get him-“she took $10 dollars off” bc she cut him. How about you need to go back to school. His hair was NOT MATTED like they said. I know bc he gets a bath once a week and brushed. He doesn’t like brushing but there was NO NEED TO SKIN HIM. Beyond disgusted with Daphne who then gave him to a butcher named Tara.I went in to get him after this horrific experience, and the girl at the register was visibly high as a kite-and not friendly. Tara had to go get her kids off a bus. Probably because she knew this was terrible. If I could give zero stars I would.Be warned-they may have cute treats and act like they really care but do not take your little baby unless you want your pet to be traumatized. And of note-my dog is trained and very friendly and loves people. I hope they have to shut their doors due to their horrible “grooming” and lack of customer service.We took our little guy in for a nail trim-they did a great job and he wasn’t traumatized. Great customer service and we picked up some yummy treats for our pup.

I've been using Daphne at Brookside Barkery & Bath ever since I got my pup. I've had her almost 2 years now. My dog is jumping to get out of the car when I take her to her appointment. She is beyond excited to see and spend the day with Daphne. I have had the most wonderful experience with Daphne. I trust her. She is kind. She does a marvelous job. I only have amazing things to say. I am so pleased with my decision to take my pup here. I won't go anywhere else. Thank you Daphne and Brookside Barkery for all that you do!!! Had my first experience here yesterday. I used the self bath option and they made it so easy! provided shampoo, conditioner, ear cleaner, face wash, towels, apron, and drying station. It was likely the best experience I have had bathing my pup. Going back to give dog number 2 for sure!

Wow! Talk about friendly and knowledgeable staff! Visit them for a consultation to discuss the health and nutrition of your dog or cat. They have a great selection of healthy food and treats, and they will help you choose the best option for your pet. They also offer grooming services and have self-serve dog washing stations. You will be glad you visited them.

I took my English Bulldog in for self-bath service for the first time Sunday, and the staff there were wonderful. They greeted us immediately upon coming in, spent time loving on my dog, and prepared a self-wash station for us. They were kind and very helpful. I will be returning here!

Candidly I have never been to your store. hHowever I know Tara really well she is one of the best groomers I have ever met. She worked with both of my dogs and is kind loving and bonded with both of them. I cannot recommend her more highly and I'm so excited that she has joined your team.

We were in town for family emergency stuff, but haven’t been able to get our poodle groomed for a while and he needed it bad! They were so good and able to get our poodle in the next day! He looks amazing and smells so good! Thank you so much for helping our boy feel so much better! 💕

My favorite pet food store in Kansas City. The staff is knowledgeable and the selection is great. Pick up grain-free, holistic, natural, raw, freeze-dried, or whatever your furry family member needs. There are grooming services available. Food is a little pricey. But, that is because it is awesome quality.

Love this place and so does my dog. Always clean with professional staff. They have a great self serve dog wash and it is pretty easy to get your dog in for grooming. My dog, Holly, loves to go shopping for a treat there.

We have been using this local business for years! Wonderful, knowledgeable staff and a great inventory of services, treats, food, and toys. Take your pet in and soon it will be there favorite place. Our Corgi gets excited as soon as we hit the off ramp! She loves it and so do we!

OUR EXPERIENCE WITH THE NEW OWNERS WAS HORRIBLE. Brookside used to be the BEST place to take my beautiful husky!! They loved on her so much and treated her like royalty. The price was wonderful too! For a deshed and the works package it was with tip around $80.00 that is giving a $20 tip to groomer. Now the same exact service without tip is costing $125.00 before new owners the time frame was between 3 to 3.5 hours, worth 1 full hour dedicated to a brush and blow out. Which is crucial after the deshed bath and depending upon the season extra important to get that loose hair off of her. The girl who bathed her was new and must not understand what needs to be done, my dog had not been in for 6 months due to some personal issues so I knew she would need the maximum amount of time to get her taken care of properly, she called me in 1 hr 45 min telling me she was done. Not only is the price doubled but the service time has been shortened. The new owner did not rectify this issue and instead asked us to not return. Us who had previously been loyal customers for FIVE years!! We are deeply saddened. Before new owners Brookside was the BEST place to take your furbabies. Now I would never recommend them to anyone. The new owners are clearly out for money and not the interest of the pets and families. WHAT A SHAME.

They don’t allow reservations for self service so you have to actually show up in person just for them to tell you there’s a 1 hr wait to wash your dog yourself. They should at least allow you to be added to the wait list so that you can show up when it’s your turn. Instead of packing the dog up and then trying to burn an hr somewhere before coming back and hoping the bay is still open

I’ve taken three generations of dogs to Brookside Barkery every two weeks for over fifteen years. I’ve always paid their inflated fees and tipped groomers at least twenty percent. Yesterday I went in for our biweekly baths.First, no one acknowledged I was even there. I waited ten minutes for help at the grooming counter before needing to seek out help. Then I was told someone else had been notified.Second, my regular biweekly appointment was cancelled for no apparent reason. I was told uncaringly that we were unable to get a bath without an appointment.Third, I expressed my discontent with the person at the grooming desk and four other employees standing around, doing nothing, at the main cash registers. No one even pretended to care.I will never take my dogs to BB again. They don’t care. After fifteen years and scores of employee changes, I’m done. It’s sad to see their descension into the bowels of “I don’t care” retail scammers.

We have been going to the Barkery for several years now and love this place! My dogs LOVE Daphne, the groomer, and she does an amazing job with my little pups! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable as well! Highly recommend!

My dog is so anxious about baths and the people here were absolutely wonderful! He’s an older dog so it’s harder for him to get it in the tub. They were so gentle with him and helped me get him in and out of the tub. They were so patient and helpful when it came to drying him and helping ease his anxiety about everything. I can’t say enough good things about this place!

The Barkery used to be one of our favorite places to explore all things dog. However, recently all staff has changed. 100% for the worst. We loved talking with a college educated pet nutritionist and others with years of experience. The staff used to be kind and very helpful. Now staff is rude, brash and constantly giving contradictory information. One visit they tell you food A will help your dogs kidney issues, then the next visit they inform you food A is "junk" and food B is the best choice. When you ask why a certain food is better or worse they give you no scientific rationale, they simply read the food manufacturers claims to you verbatim. I'm not sure who was behind the massive staff change, but it was a horrific decision. During quarantine we participated in curbside pick up. We would be in the area and call to see if the food was ready. We were told it would be ready in about 10-15 minutes. We would wait outside patiently. However, after 30 minutes we would call and be told "we can't just get the food ready for you just because you call" we would apologize and inform them we were just checking since we were in the area and be told "it wasn't possible to get the food ready as there was multiple orders" ahead of us. Understandable. We would head home. Less than 10 minutes later we would get an email saying our order was ready. This happened multiple times. When we did pick up our order we were greeted with rudeness and anger like we were doing something wrong. Our pets are never welcomed or greeting like they used to be. Please bring back the amazing crew you had before! We will be leaving The Barkery after 10 years.

This place is awesome! I have been buying from them since we brought home our puppy at 8 weeks old (he is 4 now). Brittany May in particular has helped me many many times. They have all the premium food options and all the staff is very knowledgeable and super friendly but Brittany goes above and beyond to make sure I am satisfied with my purchases. I highly recommend this place.

Super helpful staff available to answer all my new puppy nutrition questions about food, supplements, and treats. They even had the exact brand of harness that I had researched and was getting ready to order online. Their prices are less than what I have seen from online stores. I would much rather support a local business any day! Great asset to the neighborhood with easy access for the interstate.
