Matt, Bobby, and the entire team are fantastic! Always there with a smile. I love this place so much, I camp there at least ten times every year.

This campground is great! The employees are helpful, the grass and grounds are very well kept, and the bathrooms and showers were pretty clean! The only thing that would have been better is if they had a shorter float. The shortest one they offer is 8 miles and with 4 kids and 2 adults it was a long day. We love this place and will be back!

Arrived Friday June 23rd with reservations. When I booked the campsite and paid the deposit, I told the girl our plans to stay Friday/Saturday night and leave Sunday afternoon. After driving 3 hours with the family and arriving Friday, they presented me with this multi page contract (never seen anything like this for a camp site). The contract stated: check out time was 12 on Sunday. After bringing it to the young man’s attention at the front desk, he said to give him a minute so he could see what he could do. So I went to use the restroom, came back and waited my turn in line again and this time was met by Matt, who I assume is the owner. I honestly never would have expected this to be a problem and figured it would be easily resolved. I explained to Matt that we booked the reservation and the girl never said anything about there being an issue with us staying until Sunday afternoon, Matt interrupted me and wanted to argue what was discussed between me and the girl on the phone. When he wasn’t present for the conversation. He kept insisting that he trains everyone there and there’s no way they wouldn’t have told me about the 12:00 check out time. Matt: why would we drive 3 hours, arrive Friday evening, hang out one day(Saturday), and then have to basically get up Sunday, pack up and hit the road, only to waste a half day of an already short vacation? Does that make sense to you? If your employee had told me that check out time was noon, we would have either discussed it further and come up with a solution or told her, thanks, no thanks, that’s not gonna work for us and just made other weekend plans. But instead, you insult me in front of a room full of patrons and effectively call Me a liar telling me what was and wasn’t said during a conversation you weren’t there for. As a business owner, I would never talk to a customer the way you talked to me. To immediately cut someone off before they can even finish their sentence and then call them a liar was completely unwarranted and totally unprofessional. And then you have the gall to offer to “make an exception”, move me to another camp site and ask me to pay an additional $20 “Late check out fee”? I thought about this thoroughly before making this review. You simply don’t talk to people that way.

Horrible customer service. I paid for spots 276, 277 and 278. Upon arrival, we checked the map from their website and set up on the first three spots according to THEIR map.Several hours later the staff came and told us that we had to move our tents to the area between the road and the first campsite. We walked down the row and EVERY site past us is set up to the left of the sign post. They tried to say that we needed to set up to the right. This leaves us INCHES from the road in a campground full of drunks.Down the row, site 272 is empty. Someone is set up in the wrong spot, but it isn't us.When I asked why we weren't told not to go by the camp, he said because we didn't stop and check in at the office.Every person in our group checked in and got a car hang tag. We showed those to him and he had no response. We couldn't have gotten car tags without checking in.The highlighted areas on THEIR map are the sites I rented. The campground manager made us move above those, and next to the road.Safety: Extremely unsafe to have people camp INCHES from the road.

Always phenomenal. The staff is so helpful and pleasant. Things are very accessible here. Family friendly and serene. It can be very busy at times, and yet still very wonderful. We enjoy coming here, and having a great time. The trading post is full of really important things and they are not to overly priced. Some things are, as expected. The facilities are as clean as they can be given it's a campgrounds. They also have a coin operated laundry mat on premises. There are full time RV slots and a great play ground for your littles. It is not shaded, but it's a hoot.

The river was nice, and our tent campground was nicely shaded, however the campsites themselves are incredibly small. If it is busy everyone is right on top of you. Also the bathrooms were small, incredibly hot, and kind of gross. There's enough land around that they could definitely do better.

I have floated all over the State and the tall guy who said he is the "managing co-owner" is extremely rude and unprofessional.I would give zero stars if I could. There are a dozen other campgrounds on this stretch of the Niangua. I will definitely not be back at HVO.

This was our first time here and we will definitely stay again! The campground and facilities were very clean and well kept. Each RV site had a concrete pad and fire pit which were clean. Everytime you entered the store every staff member greeted you like they knew you. Very friendly, personable and willing to help in any way. They treated you like a small "mom and pop" place but the campground is very large. We floated and those staff members were very kind and patient. Very seamless the whole weekend. Only thing that was a little inconvenient was we could never get someone to pick up the phone, during the stay or prior, when calling but if left a message they would return your call. Can't wait to return with our kids. Thank you Hidden Valley Outfitters for the great weekend!

Large beautiful campground right on river. Clean, lots of places to swim, sit or fish along the river. Family oriented. Right outside Bennett Springs State Park. We would highly recommend. General store is convenient for those items you forget. Staff was friendly and attentive.

I love the campground and staff and the river. The sites definitely need some gravel and leveling. The bathrooms are disgusting. Toilets won't flush and are overflowing. I had to go to the office to use the restroom. It could be so much better if more care was put into the details. I will still come back but would love to see a few things fixed.

Very nice place! Has large RV area as well as a large"camping" area. Both have river access. The camp store is very nice and well stocked. The kids will love it with play grounds, basketball court, volleyball, disc golf and river swimming. There are multiple water features. The place is well maintained and clean. The only thing that keeps me from giving 5 stars is they don't have any secluded camp sites in the woods, but what they do, they do well! Wish I could give them 5&3/4.

We stayed mid-week. No one here except other RV/trailer campers. The grounds are pristine. The bathrooms in the RV area were typical Campground bathrooms, clean but nothing spectacular. The employees were very helpful and really nice. We came to float the Niangua. Put in right at the Campground, and they shuttled us and our boats back for $25/boat. The Trading Post has just about everything you'd want and not at jacked up prices. There are also several places along the grounds to access the river for swimming, wading, etc. The only downside was the lack of shade. Definitely recommend if you're planning to float the Niangua.

We rented canoes and enjoyed floating on the niangua. It was fun but pretty busy. They were a great help in getting our trout tags for the river.

My families first visit to HVO was amazing! I didn’t know what to expect and may have overspent trying to ensure we had enough camping space and rafts. But even with that, I still walked away happy and fulfilled. It was tranquil, clean, and the campsite was user-friendly. I was impressed with their shower/restroom facilities and the general store had all the extras my family needed for our visit. There was even a Walmart less than 20mins away! The staff was friendly even in the midst of my frustration when I discovered that I overspent on accommodations. As a side note, I don’t believe all parties are on the same page regarding relayed information but my family had such a great time I looked passed the discrepancies. Thank you HVO for keeping the calm in the storm! Wish I could have gotten that phone call back as discussed which would have made this experience the best vibe ever!

Such a great place to camp! We have a 32ft Class C and all RV sites are concrete parking pad and pretty darn level. The sites have grass & young trees, easy to hook up to all the services, and plenty of room between sites, which is a HUGE plus!! Lots of great walking areas, fishing right at the Niangua River, also close to Missouri State Park Bennett Springs. The staff are always friendly & helpful. The store on the property is well stocked and has a great selection. We will definitely be back, often. Thank you HVO staff!!

This was my first time camping at HVO, I was very impressed with everything. Everyone I encountered was so nice. The whole campground was very well kept and clean. I highly recommend this place for camping, fishing, floating or renting a cabin. I will definitely be back.

Very clean campground, great service, frequent patrols to keep an eye on things (thank you!), family atmosphere, park was quiet at 10, super clean shower rooms, nice playgrounds. We booked a lower float on a raft for our family and we had a great time even when it rained on us! Our family had a wonderful time!!

This place is beautiful! Concrete, level pads. Over flow parking if you have an extra vehicle. They have a playground for the kids if you aren't playing in the river. There's a pavilion if you are with a larger group. They also have rentals (kayaks, rafts, and canoes).**Only one caution**If you come after hours, pull into the store parking lot. The road to the campsites are through the parking lot. If you try to use the outside road, you will be taking a 25 minute, gravel road detour to turn around. Don't trust Google Maps on the quicker turnaround!! Go back to Hwy 64. You can't make the turn in the first "turnaround" and it's not really a public road anyway. Trust me.

Really nice campground with nice store and mini restaurant. Easy to reserve online. Very good concrete pull through sites. Nice to have full hook ups at a very reasonable price. Mostly all positives but the bathrooms and shower house were quite a disappointment. Almost no privacy in the showers - divided only by short shower curtains. There was no place to sit, sit things or hang things to keep dry. Only 2 toilets and paper ran out twice while we were there. We loved the location and all else - but the showers would make me think twice about returning.

Stayed this time for just over a week and it was fabulous. We had an electrical issue ( our camper not their post) and couldn't run on shore power. We could only run the generator. It was nearly 100 three of those days. Bobby ( onsite host) came down any tried helping us out. He changed out our GFCI, hoping it just went bad on us. This guy was amazing!!! He tried for well over an hour to get us going again. I can't say enough great things about this campground and the staff. The entire group makes you feel welcomed and like you're an old and cherished friend. It doesn't matter if it's your first time here or your fiftieth. The campsites are well maintained. Maintenance is always up to date. The shower house is clean and water pressure is great. It's always a great experience staying here. ( Even if our camper acts up)

Awesome time. Fishing was great. Kayaking was great. Enjoyed my time off. I could live there year around. Cool store at campground. Shower house kinda gross and out dated. Laundry machines on site, which is nice. Campground is good lots of space. River right across the campground road. Hidden gem for sure. Right across from the Bennett Springs state park entrance. Staff were great. No issues, pull through sites. Good time for all. Thanks again. We will be back.

This is a nice campground could use more shade but they have small trees planted all over, so one day there will be. Nice level spots with full hookup. Spots are concrete pads. Right on the river as well. There is a general store here as well with pizza and burgers.

Only stayed Two nights! But the location was excellent, River access was awesome, Accommodations were great. Pull through camping site.. Full hook ups 50Amps. This was the easiest Rv setup I have ever had at any campground. I absolutely love the level concrete pad. We caught Rainbow Trout right out of the river, Tubed down river from the bridge and also kayaked for miles.!! I highly recommend this camp ground and plan on returning!!

2022 - 5 stars. Stayed in Cabin 92. Floated on Labor Day weekend. River was busy. I always float mid week, so this was a change. Despite it being a party atmosphere, it was pretty tame on the water. Caught my limit on trout near the HVO campground. Campsites were still maintained and this place continue to improve. Staff is great and they made it easy.2021-5 stars Great campground, maintained to high standards. They have a big general store. Floated twice, stayed overnight at the primitive site. Maintained firepits. Hot showers, clean restrooms. Nice canoes and kayaks for floating. I used their shuttle service. All staff is friendly, especially Eli. Little Niangua is a great river to float.
