Has to be the best salt water collection north of the river. Staff is very helpful, and all around great pet store for all you needs. Google asked me if my review has changed. Yes, it has only gotten better. And I recommend you to go and give them a try. Best pet store in KC.

Just discovered this place and love the layout of the store. There are lots of options for food and toys for cats and dogs. Some small critters for sale depending on availability, and the back corner has reptiles and terrarium invertebrates that are cool- though shy so not a high chance of seeing them all at once. The fish room is what got us to visit. The tanks are very clean, the staff that we worked with was very knowledgeable, the supplies are plentiful. The tanks are a little overstocked, but look maintained with low stress on the fish. They specialize in cichlids here, so definitely lots of cool color and behavior. They also sell green algae water which we haven't been able to find in any of the other stores in town yet.

I love the store, I go there when I can. And even if I do not need to buy any supplies, I still enjoy going in there. The service is great and love their set up. My only request would be, treat their rodents with 2x the bedding.

We love this pet store. Excellent customer service and knowledge base. They helped me select and assemble my first planted betta fish tank and it is currently thriving. They’ve helped me troubleshoot and given me tons of advice. To boot, they’re great with kiddos! We try to shop here for all our pet needs.

Been shopping with Chris ever since he ran his fish operation on Craigslist I believe it was at the time out his basement, then his garage, finally to a store, and now this huge nice location that competes with any other local fish/pet store in the KC metro. I went to Petopia to purchase rock to scape my 200- gallon red tank. They had everything I needed and help me with selecting and getting it to my car. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you.

This place has a friendly atmosphere. They have lots of things to buy for just about any pets. They have pets for adoption. They have lots of fish both salt and fresh water. They also have fresh water plants and salt water corals for your tanks. They are happy to do a water test for your tanks. If you sign up for their membership they will send you by text of their daily deals of the day.

I bought 6 Ember Tetras. I saw 2 small white spots on one of the tetra the first day but was unaware of what it was. My tank now has Ich. Never had Ich before visiting Pettopia and I've kept fish for years. All of my fish have been now infected all within one week, they all are struggling to swim around, and they look like they are in pain. What an absolute shame. I will not be back.

I stumbled on this place one Saturday and have gone back 8 times in the last month.The fish room is 10/10. Reptile supplies are super solid. My kids love their pet Dove and Parrot.

This is my go-to local pet store. The staff is always very welcoming and checks on you. They are also one of the only locally owned places that sells fresh AND saltwater fish/supplies/tanks. I always recommend them to anyone getting into fish. Pet-Topia is always a must!

I would highly recommend this place if you’re looking to start a fish tank or add fish to your tank. Lots of options fresh and saltwater fish. The staff was very friendly and helpful. we‘ve had our tank set up with fish for a week now and they all seem really healthy and active. They also have a happy hour on fish which is pretty cool.

Chris, Chad and the team out here have been amazing! As someone new to the hobby, I've made every mistake in the book, and not only did they help me keep my fish alive they also did it without judgment! Deffinatly would recommend stopping out to this gem in the city for all of your pet needs!

I had an employee try to talk me OUT of buying a larger tank for my snake, stating that a 20 gallon is enough space for an adult corn snake... This is blatantly wrong information and I don't really enjoy being spoken too about a hobby I spend a lot of time researching by someone who doesn't even own a reptile, tbh.

I remember this as “FishTopia” Someone must've bought it out because ever since it’s been Pet-Topia things have started to go downhill. The prices are absurd, the workers who seemed to know what they were doing are no longer there, the ferret cage is insanely small for such active animals (there were three ferrets in a birdcage.) and the smell was revolting. The workers have given me the wrong species of fish, dropped fish in front of me, and the workers literally talk about the costumers to each other through earpieces. Honestly, find a more reliable pet store. You literally will spend $50 on just a couple feeder fish. I’ve never really had a friendly experience here.

Nice staff. High quality chooses for your fur babies. We have a saltwater tank and have gotten all of our fish from them. Make sure to get your raffle tickets when you buy something they give gift cards out every week.
