This is an awesome animal sanctuary. The staff and volunteers have a true passion for animals. They are equally as loving to healthy animals as they are to the sick and more challenging ones who require extra care. They survive on the generosity of donors but could greatly benefit from a new shelter. They are making due with their current location, but I pray anyone who reads this post/review will dig deep into your hearts and help them accomplish this goal. They are limited with the number of animals they take in due to space and repair of their building. If you are an expert grant writer, please contact them. If you want to make a worthy donation, please contact them. If you have some extra time to spare, please make your way to the shelter and volunteer your services. If you want to give an animal a second chance to find a safe and thriving home life, complete an application and adopt a dog or cat. Thanks to everyone at the shelter and all the unpaid hours of work you contribute without complaint.

We picked an abandoned cat, Safe Harbor check him out to make sure he’s was okay. Very friendly and nice people there HIGHLY recommend and appreciate everything they did for us

My wife and I went there to donate some goods and look around. Everyone was so welcoming and gave us information about the animals. You can tell they really care for them. Definitely could use any help they can get! They definitely do the best that they can☺️

Well it's a no-kill shelter so 5 stars there. Their budget is obviously limited but the few times I've volunteered there (their hours are when i usually work), but man...they LOVE each and every one of those animals. They all have names, they know each of their temperaments. They give them any treatment they need. Just a fantastic institution. If you want to help they have a thrift store to help support the shelter, consider donating things there. Or volunteer, they'd be more than happy for help!

This place has plenty of animals if anyone wants to purchase one of these lovely animals. I enjoy playing with the cats! they are pretty smart and quick too. They also have some dogs available. So folks on your spare time go down and check it out!! 👋

I think the staff and volunteers are very good. They could always use more donations and more funds to get the things they need. They do their best. We got 2 cats to rescue. The main boss was very attentive to giving them all you need to get started. She made sure shots, wormers, de-fleaing, surgeries and all were done to age of animal and that you were aware of your next step.She ended the visit with making sure IF you have ANY questions or concerns to give a call ! How wonderful. I do appreciate all the staffs efforts at Safe Harbor.We have Binx and a Mama all healthy here at home now. ( See photos). Susan & Robert G.

Thanks for explaining. You can imagine how confused I was, cause I only knew he had been neutered and he had slight complication. I understand they knew nothing about his past, other then he was nottreated with kindness. You have a return policy so if he was unhappy with his forever loving mom, im not selfish, I would have returned him. I would want what is best for him and now I know you also want what is best for him and you guys are not NUT CASES. My apologies for the misunderstand. Yes, one day not being able to clean any sanctuary will be a foul smell but when I arrived, there were 3-4 ladies there, talking and when I left an HR later, no one was cleaning. Hopefully, you can now understand my concernNow you explained everything and I so appreciate your time and patience. 4*

My dog had a litter of puppies and I had no room for them in my house. I contacted safe harbor trying to find a no kill shelter that would be able to take them. They were not able to take them but they gave me several resources and I was able to find placement for the puppies. The mother dog was also having some issues and they gave great advice on what I could do to help her. They are very caring, friendly and helpful.

Awesome!!!!! The people are friendly and the animals are well cared. You are able to see the actual animal and spend time with them before making a life long commitment. Plus, they do follow up visits!!!! I LOVE this place!Please consider donating money, blankets, toys, food, time......be part of the solution, spay and neuter.

This shelter has had a complete reboot and is more clean and up to date with their animals than ever! My daughter and I LOVE volunteering every week.The staff are friendly and I don't think you could find a shelter anywhere that knows the personalities of ALL their animals better!They run on donations, and funds from the thrift store in Jackson (with all items donated-but donaters must be able to drop off their items themselves, no pick ups).Their only downfall is they need SOOO many more volunteers! The animals get checked twice a day and with as few volunteers as they have the cats and dogs don't get as much playtime and attention as they should. Most time is spent thoroughly cleaning each dog pen, cat room and porch, and sick animal pens.

We live next door to Safe Harbor the volunteers driving down the Private road think it’s a race track.Dogs are always loose and running around, people trespassing, dumping trash on the roadside. Safe Harbor will not answer the phone and they are only open about three hours a day. Criminals doing community service work there sometimes, this is not what this place was supposed to be. It’s really changed for the worse. Very disappointed neighbor.

Very nice people doing wonderful things, animals are all friendly. Prices are definitely great since you're pretty much just paying for medical stuff, like they are already fixed with all their shots so you actually save money because it costs allot more to get all that taken care of after. Plus they are non-kill.

Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary has been under a new director and reopened since January 2016. They are new and improved. It was rocky at first due to being a new group of people and getting the flow of things but we are better than ever. Come check us out. We could use more volunteers, there is alot of help needed. It takes one person just to man the phone. Running an animal Sanctuary is time consuming and is not an easy task. The good that comes from it outweighs the bad by a long shot. This is purely a volunteer based, no-kill, non profit organization that is improving and saving the lives of homeless animals in need.

I had some cat trees a sissal stratching post (all in good condition)and contacted Safe harbor - they seemed to want them and told me to bringthem in - I told them I had no way to bring them since I did not have a SUVplus I am elderly - Connie said she would talk to the director. In themeantime, I found some cat beds, cat food (my cat does not like),automatic waterers, towels, nail clippers and some nice cat figurinesfor their thrift shop, etc. I have never heard from them . Needless tosay, they will never hear from me again nor receive any monetary donations!

I highly recommend this place. The staff was amazing although they could use more help so if you like to volunteer go here please. They were so helpful in helping me find my kitten and we love her so much.

It is a no-kill shelter. Animals are kept separate to help keep from spreading disease. When they are sick they are isolated and nurtured back to health. They are taken care of each day. The animal feeding bowls and pens are cleaned every day.

Safe Harbor allows animals to roam around and enjoy their lives, they let people play with them and show them love. I've never seen any other shelter do that. Love it there!

I absolutely love Safe Harbor! I've never seen a better example of a place where people come together to love and care for homeless fur babies, always hoping that they will find a forever home for each one.

Glad they are a "no kill" place, had to take a "nuisance" animal there, they just weren't very nice about taking it. We left feeling GUILTY for having left it there when we had NO OTHER CHOICE.
