Very nice winery located not far from our hotel . Oldest winery in Missouri we learned on the tour . The cellar that they built and hand dug is very impressive . Truly amazing to build something like that before modern timesThe wine tasting area and gift shop area are both very nice and clean. I was honestly shocked though that the chocolate they sell is from Seattle. Should support local chocolate places as well.Definitely worth stopping in here if you're in Hermann.

We stumbled upon Stone Hill winery while creating our own wine trail in town! We loved it! The experience was like no other and the tasting rooms are set up in such a cool fashion it keeps you wanting to stay and chat about the good life while enjoying another splendorous sip!! The wines were so wonderful we brought two home and plan to back before fall for our second grab!! We highly recommend this as one of your main stops on the trail when going!! 20 stars all around!!!

We had a wonderful time at Stone Hill this weekend! The wine was great, as usual, and we enjoyed our tasting with Rachel. She knows her wines! She gave us an extra tasting on our flight, where we tried their Cream Sherry. I was amazed by how much I enjoyed it, and really appreciated the extra touch Rachel gave us. We hope to be back soon! I also adored the view outside the tasting room and the fall decor.

Stone Hill is amazing! The venue is beautiful, the staff is amazing, and prices are great!!! We started with the cellar tour and then onto tasting. Once we ate dinner at the restaurant, we headed down for some quick portraits! Thank you for making a great experience!

Established in 1847 – well before there was a Napa Valley grape growing and wine making industry – Stone Hill grew at one point to be the second largest winery in the United States. Today, it remans a cornerstone of Hermann, Missouri’s thriving wine industry.Stone Hill features the largest series of arched underground cellars in North America, which are a testament to the passion of the original German winemakers who settled the area west of St. Louis. The tours are a must see for all visiting the winery - providing a wealth of intriguing information about winemaking and the Hermann area. More than 250,000 gallons of highly rated wine are produced annually at Stone Hill.Their most famous products tend to feature the Norton grape. Norton is Missouri’s official state grape; it makes for a robust, deeply colored, dry red wine with distinctive character flowing from a complex mix of fruit, spice and oak. I enjoy it most as an accompanyment to meals with red meat. It is often argued that Norton is possibly North America’s oldest cultivated grape. It certainly has impacted the production of a significant number of celebrated Missouri wines. The Stone Hill website boasts. “Our vineyards span seven sites surrounding the Hermann area. As Missouri’s largest grape grower, we are dedicated to growing our own grapes for our wines. In 1983, Hermann was honored as one of the nation’s first federally designated AVAs, or American Viticultural Areas. AVAs denote unique characteristics of an area that make it a special and distinct location to grow grapes and make wine.”A quick internet search will quickly produce a long list of grand wine industry awards for Stone Hill. It is rather impressive, but I don’t put a lot of stock in encouraging others to read about wine and grape growing awards. I recommend you go and savor the vino, experience the area’s rich history, and enjoy such a lush, green destination. It is worth the trip.

My new husband and I did the complimentary wine tour. Our tour guide was excellent. She gave us a great overview of the history of Hermann and Stone Hill wine. We even got to sample some Norton grapes. I also tried a slushy and we came home with a bottle of the Norton to enjoy later. Amazing wine and atmosphere. A must stop for anyone in the area.

Great free tour of the winery, bit of history included. The wines are among my favorites. Good hours, delicious restaurant and a perfect spot to get a bottle, grab a seat and spend hours catching up with friends and family. Highly recommend.

I don't drink wine but I brought my husband here for some wine tasting and dinner. He loved the wines so much that we brought home 6 bottles! We took the free tour through the cellars and it was very interesting and informative. Jani (I hope I got that right) was our guide and I really enjoyed the history she shared with us, it was the best wine tour we have ever had. The cellars were amazing! Then we went into the barn for dinner and it did NOT disappoint! You can sit in a horse stall and order authentic German food here. The staff were friendly and kept our glasses full. The food came out pretty quickly and tasted great! We have lived in 8 states, been to 48 states, and visited several wineries. This by far was the most unique, beautiful, and historic winery so far. Everything was excellent and we absolutely loved our afternoon spent here. Will definitely be back for sure!

Very beautiful place. We did the wine flight and enjoyed trying all of them. They also had live music which is a definite plus! The only thing I’m confused about is why Hermann wineries close at 5pm on weekends??? I’d think being a Saturday they’d at least stay open until sunset. Unfortunately we didn’t arrive until 4:30...so our visit was short. We did have dinner at The Vintage which Id rate at 3 stars due to the food. Service was friendly. We had the baked Brie (loved) and the Schweineschnitzel (it was just okay) I would think they’d at least offer a charcuterie board being at a winery. Overall, just wasn’t impressed with the food sadly.

We bought a bottle of their port, and it was awful. I've made wine with Welches grape juice that was 10x better than this. I see why they have wine "slushies". It doesn't matter if you make the wine the same way they do in Portugal, it's still undrinkable.

Two things important to me when I go to a winery, the wine and view. The wine was great. If you willing to sit in the sun there was a pretty good spot, see pictures. But from the shade there was nothing to see felt boxed in. If I can't see something might as well drink it at home. Awesome store for shopping all the usual stuff. Priced as you'd expect for tourist.

The free tour was a very nice touch, and impressive! We did the 6 wine flight tasting, and all wines were excellent. We happily bought a couple wines afterwards. The glasses included with the tasting are a nice quality.

Great place for a tasting and shopping their retail. They are more pricy then some of the other options but still totally reasonable, you get a wine glass and the servers are usually fun and very knowledgeable! They have a beautiful location with a restaurant right on site. Be aware the restaurant closes in the off season. Still fun and I recommend!

Tour was great, but after a long weekend already I opted out of the wine tasting. I look forward to it next time. However I did hear a lot of praise for the wine from other visitors. Hope to make a trip back very soon!

Beautiful winery in Herman. The free tour of the cellars where the actual wine making takes place is well worth your time.Kay was a charming , knowledgeable guide that started outside.with the earliest history and the famous Norton grape found only in Missouri and ended in the tasteing room. It was fasinating to see and learn the process behind making Stone Hill wine. The tasteing cost us $12 to sample 6 diffrent wines of your choice. Our favorite was the Ozark Hellbender and Norton. It was a wonderful experience and would recommend everyone take the time to visit Stonehill Winery

My wife and I stop here everytime when in Hermann. A little more commercial than I like but a good solid winery with good wines. They have a tour, tastings, a nice gift shop, and a nice resteraunt. They also have events throughout the year to make things a little more interesting. This is one of the stops for the Herrmann Trolley.

Hubby and I stopped in for a wine tasting with high hopes based on the reviews we have read. This experience did not turn out how we expected. The sweet wines were not as tasty as we expected. The cost for the tasting was a bit excessive considering the small amount of wine you got for each sample. They do give you the glass at the end though so I guess that justifies some of the cost.

Hands down the best winery of the 5 that the trolley takes you to. I highly recommend doing a tasting to find what you like. The traminette is hands down the best wine I have ever tasted. Will definitely be going back to this scenic location!

Really liked the experience. The wine tasting itself is 15$ per person and you are allowed 6 samples in total. I liked the diversity if flavors. You can then buy the wine and enjoy it looking over the vineyard which is very cool. There is restaurant there too and the tour for the cellars is very scenic and informational! Would recommend.

So...I have seldom tasted wine in this part of the country that I thought was fit to drink...HOWEVER!!!...a trip here changed my mind PLUS the tour and surroundings were really beautiful. Kinda made you forget where you were! This is about like going to one of the older wineries in Napa or Sonoma. Absolutely loved it and will go back over and over. DO THE TOUR!!!!
