We enjoyed fried chicken family style on a Saturday evening at the Claysville Store. We had reservations, and waited a very short while for our table.Once seated, we sat for over 20 minutes waiting for a waitress to acknowledge our presence. Tables around us were seated and served before a waitress finally appeared to take our drink order. This was not a matter of the restaurant being busy or other excuses: waitresses appeared at other tables seated after us. This was simply a matter of disorganization with the serving staff.Once we were acknowledged, the food was excellent, and the service thereafter was good. We enjoyed our meal once we were served. The cole slaw may be the best I've ever had.REMEMBER, you should have reservations before appearing for dinner at the Claysville Store. ALSO, the Claysville Store does not take credit or debit cards - just cash or check.Parking: Parking is a little tight - be patient when looking.

It's a home cooking fried Chicken sort of place, served family style. And if that's what you're into that sort of food, you'll be so pleased with the meal and prices! A potential downside if you have specific dietary restrictions, this would be a tough place to eat. When you order the family style meal, you are at the mercy of your server. We happened to encounter a server that we struggled to give us enough food, so that took away from the experience, as we kept having to ask and she sort of acted like we were asking for the moon. She was young and probably new, so I wouldn't hold it against the place. The owners are lovely and appreciate your business. The desserts are worthwhile, even if you take it to go.The location is along the Katy trail, about 10 min or less off of hwy 63. Great spot to hop on the trail before or after dinner. Indoor and outdoor dining available.

If you are trapped in a world of pavement and devices, take a short drive off of hwy 63 and you will find yourself at Claysville Store. Adorned with wagon wheels and more than likely a line out the door, the aging building with its fading faux brick tin siding will probably leave some wondering whether the drive was worth it.Number one, get reservations. Number two, come hungry. Number three.... you need to like chicken, or at least meat. If you are a vegetarian... you will need to eat sides or dessert. That being said, the chicken is pretty damn good. You get a choice of plate or family style. So if you want just 3 pieces of chicken, then get a plate. If you are really hungry, get the family style where you get all you can eat. They are served with green beans, biscuits, mashed potatoes, cinnamon applesauce, and cole slaw. You could also get it served with ham, or the special (ribs, etc) for a little more.Oh, and number 4, bring cash or check. no cards.Despite being busy, we were seated quickly. Served quickly and were out the door in an hour. We did not stay for dessert, but saw an impressive list of pies for only $3. All in all, a great visit, not far off the beaten path. Plates are 9-13 bucks, family style is 3-4 dollars more per person. So it’s definitely affordable!!In a nutshell, it is EXACTLY what you read about online, oh and the chicken is pretty damn good.

If you want a genuine family style meal, this the place. Not many of these types of restaurants left. The drive down to the "store" is quite scenic. It's close to the Katy trail. Very peaceful surroundings but the restaurant is hopping. Food is great. Not many places to get genuine country cured ham. It's from Bergers Smokehouse,so you know it's good. We have family get togethers here several times a year. Prices are very reasonable. We love it. And I can certainly recommend it. Be sure to get some pie and ice cream.

A place you must experience if you're biking the Katy Trail or if you're in the mood for one of the best homestyle meals around. Will definitely be back here

I had to try this place out! My cousin and I were talking about going out to eat fried chicken here in Jefferson City. I suggested Nick's be or Steve's, he laughed and said, have you ever tried claysville store fried chicken and ham? I said no. Long story short,I took the family out to Claysville store and it was the greatest experience we have ever had! I fell in love with this food, all of it. From the fried chicken to the ham to the potatoes, green beans, cole slaw biscuits and their apple butter, oh my gosh it's delicious! Their tea and lemonades were amazing. All in all this place is a 10 out of five. Don't let the outside vintage look of the building deter you, come on in and you'll be amazed!

This place is amazing. Everything we ate was fantastic. There are a couple of things I wish we knew before we went. First they only take cash and check. So if you are like us and rarely carry cash be prepared before coming. The second thing is to have a reservation. This place is not very big and given how good it is a lot of people are there to eat. Now that we know the ropes we will definitely be going again.

Went here for the first time and the reviews are correct. The food is hot and fresh and the service was too notch. We had the fried chicken and ham dinner. The fried chicken was great, really juicy and the breading was perfect. The ham was cooked just right and tasted great. The waiters and waitresses are all young ladies and men and I haven't seen any better service anywhere. They really hustle. There hours are limited so be sure you call for a reservation. If you are riding the Katy Trail stop by its really worth it. I definitely recommend. We will be back.

Yummy! The food here is so good and the place is charming. Fried chicken was so tasty. Just a little different I think they still pan fry it but not absolutely sure. Ham is salty as you would expect cured ham to be. Not overly so but just as I expected and tasty. The sides were so good especially the cole slaw. The taters and gravy on par,. It was a very good meal. For an all you can eat meal with excellent service and delicious pie, the piece was reasonable as well.Take the rip if you're on the fence you won't be disappointed.

Go there, Take Cash, it's good. It's a family style restaurant, fried chicken or ham with fixings. Get it for one, two, or the whole family. They also serve desert, which is basically obligatory if you've made it through your meal. You won't be disappointed. Also cash or Check only.

They have very tasty fried chicken. Really good mashed potatoes and scrumptious gravy. Their cole slaw is excellent, a sweet vinaigrette dressing with poppy seeds. Home-made desserts are hard to resist, even harder to decide which one to have.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The food was fresh and delicious. We opted to not do family-style as we didn't think we could eat that much food. We had plenty to eat without having it family-style. The staff was super friendly and attentive. I've been telling everyone they need to go there.

A rustic, down-home country feel with excellent home-cooked food. The dinners are served "family style" with 2-3 entrees and all the fixins along with a wide selection of excellent home baked desserts. You'll never leave this this place hungry or wanting more. Highly recommended.

Let me start off by saying that I don’t like fried chicken. At all. My family and I all went to Claysville Store tonight, and much to my dismay, they only had fried chicken, and ham. And I’m not crazy about ham either...But boy was I surprised when I tried that chicken, AND IT WAS AMAZING 😍.I can honestly say that that is the only fried chicken I have ever eaten in my whole entire life that I actually liked! The ham was pretty good too.The sides that came with the family style meal were superb as well, green beans, mashed potatoes, biscuits, white gravy, coleslaw, all the fixins. (For you city folk, that means, “the good stuff”)The service was great, and the waitress was very friendly. My family and I will most definitely be back soon!We will also be referring this place to every one we know who likes good food! The owner of the restaurant even came over to our table and told us the history of the town and the restaurant when we asked him about it! Very nice people... definitely worth our time. The dessert was also incredible and everything was homemade! Which is impressive considering how busy they were, and I was also super surprised at how good the service was with how busy they were! Please go to the Claysville Store, you will not be disappointed!Even you city slickers will love it! (And we all know how hard it is to impress you!)

This place is amazing!! I don't care that it's only one menu item with sides (I don't eat pork) I would literally eat this meal every day. The chicken is amazing, so juicy, and fried fresh. I can't say this enough-i wish they were open 7 days a week!

Wonderful home cooked family style meal. Fried Chicken, Ham, Green beans, Mashed potatoes, gravy, biscuits, applesauce and coleslaw. I have come many times and have never been disappointed. Owner welcomes guests at every table. A wonderful family owned, reasonably priced family style restaurant!

Claysville has a long history of a untique place to visit. The service was 5 stars ,they try to hire local high school kids which are professional, quick and very kind. Food hot and good and was not disappointed. Will spread the word a good place to go to.Kid-friendliness: You could just see kids are welcome even had a hayride for kids and adults they are just very very good people.
