We got our Marnie (formally Jupiter) here and it was a fast easy process. We met her and fell in love. We’ve also had a stray and a few abandoned cats from our neighborhood show up on our doorstep. They were so kind, quick, and efficient in coming to get them and helping them off the streets to get a good home or find their families. We highly recommend them, they work so hard and are so nice! Thank you all again! (A few pictures of Marnie cause she’s so cute)

Nice place and friendly staff. This small community animal shelter needs your help. These little fur babies not only need a good home but they also need food, toys, and cleaning supplies while they are waiting for their forever home.

The animal control officers are very biased. Ticket the wrong side of the incident when it comes to aggressive dogs. Used to support this place so much and would lift them to the highest but unfortunately when Shana left the wanna be “police officers” took to the streets and completely butchered the image of Harrisonville animal shelter. Will never donate here again and I urge you not to conduct business with these Godless liars.

Our 18 year old dog died unexpectedly on a trip to Harrisonville. These wonderful people treated Missy Mae as if she was their own. They had her cremated and back to us in 2 days.

How about we talk about the shelters adoption policies that are ever changing depending on who you talk too. They tell you you need to come by in order to adopt an animal, so you take off work and drive an hour to meet said animal, just to be told you need to fill out an application and will be considered along with whoever filled out an application online (never meet the animal, who cares about how you interact with them). I was the first person at the shelter after they posted a dog available, spent 20 min with him, had the cash in hand, to not even get him, I was then told I would be considered along with the people who filled out online applications- which if you dig through a couple of their posts you can find in some comments, otherwise not to be found anywhere. If you are going to do business this way- update your “how to adopt” description.I might also add, I have adopted twice from this shelter. Two amazing dogs and the process was extremely smooth 2+ years ago when under WAY better management

We rescued 3 kittens in the middle of the road about one week ago, long story short, I kept them overnight and brought them in the next morning. I was told No they could not accept any more cats, they supposedly had over 50 cats. I explained that they were the 2nd. place I tried that morning, went to my vet first , and the young lady rudely asked me who my vet was and then informed me that she was really bad about telling people to bring strays to the shelter!!! I told her I couldn’t keep them and she didn’t care at all. Just told me to call Raymore shelter, I ended up bringing them back home to be barn cats. Found out a few days later that she lies about how many animals they have all the time!! Don’t waste your time with them, they really don’t care about strays!!!!!

Our kitty, Milo, ended up at the shelter. They posted his photo on Facebook and we were able to get him back. Our whole family is elated, especially the kids. Thank you so much!

Helpful staff, great customer service. It is very clean and does not appear overcrowded. If you're looking for a new furry friend to adopt, I heartily reccommend you check them out!

I went to pick up my dogs ashes yesterday, which all in all was a pretty easy process. However, the lady who handed me them was showing me that the lid stays on with the glue they used, how she did it was kinda flipped it upside down and back up a few times. I get that some may think its just a dogs ashes, but that was my baby and honestly it was a little upsetting and I cried all the way home about it. She probably didn't mean to to,but I felt it was treated like he was nothing.

I really enjoyed my limited time seeing the dogs and kittens but I sure wish they had a program so volunteers could help out and walk and train and educate kids how to be responsible pet care owners! I have personally done this type of work and these officers deserve recognition and help I feel! If the city cannot afford more employees at least allow the help of volunteers! Wish I had a way to talk to our Mayor and or congressman/woman, or who ever besides ones who close their ears and turn the other cheek! I know this happens with politics and know the only ones it hurts and puts a lot on are the ones who care and take care of these animals and the animals themselves don’t have the voice they need! I wish I had enough strength to go to the head of this committee and present this with dignity and knowledge of what the benefits can be for ones who need community hours to giving after school programs chances to learn how to take care of their pets and what the laws are about owning a pet! It’s a strength for our future people and animals to come! My health isn’t the best but I know that I could be of some asset to this facility and being a new resident of Harrisonville, I would love to be of good for living here! Thank you and please donate to the shelter and talk to your politicians and elects of who is on board and where to sign and voice your opinion please!

I realize that they are not a very big facility. But I had been trying to surrender a dog that was way too hyper for me. It took almost a month and the only reason they took the dog when they did is because another animal shelter needed dogs for a special adoption day.

I love that d people that take care of the animals they have names for all of them they respond to the caretakers it's a really nice place not a lot of animals because apparently out their people love their animals so go ahead and check it out I think you might find something now or maybe later check out the library at harrisonville too cuz sometimes they will have a feline and you can cut it interact without all the other distractions of the other animals good luck there is a puppy or cat out there that will no doubt love you

I took in a stray kitten and had to take her to a shelter after trying to find her a good home with no luck last resort I had a horrible experience rude workers made me feel horrible as they stood there and talked bad about me for brining her in saying oh all these people just help just help cats and bring them in like we have the room... Very upsetting I almost didnt want to leave the fur baby there..Very rude and I will NOT be taking any animal I help get off the streets here again.

We have not adopted a pet but do donate toys and blankets etc for the pets. They typically only euthanize if an animal is aggressive. I do wish they could create a walking path so people could volunteer and go up and walk the dogs there.

I love and appreciate the Animal Shelter we have in Harrisonville. Its easy to find and they are a no-kill shelter. They've been very helpful, though they are seriously under staffed and have short hours.

Called to see if pets were found because they got out. Simply said no, didn't ask for description or offer any other options as to how to find them. Lady was rude
