Great comfort food. Portion sizes were great. Chicken was tender, juicy, and crispy. Potato fries were tasty and crispy. Waffles with maple syrup and cream were delicious. Locally made root beer was tasty too with unlimited refills. Great place to dine if you happen to visit Hannibal. It is also conveniently located next to Mark Twain's boyhood home.

We were sat right away (2pm). Server was extremely attentive and pleasant. Oreo milkshake was really good but the food was not. I got 1 Maid-Rite, a house salad, and a cup of chili. I'm not a fan of the loose, unseasoned meat on the Maid-Rite. Glad I only ordered one. The chili tasted like old tomato paste. I'd rather eat Wendy's glob of chili. Boyfriend got a burger, and it was so-so. Definitely a tourist trap. It reminds me of a cheap Cracker Barrel with the gift shop.

I didn't regret choosing this place the time we visited Hannibal, Mo. Last weekend Aug.12,2023. Even how busy they are people who works their can manage to make their guest won't wait long. Not to mention the root beer so good and foods are delicious🙌 🤩

This was a nice place to stop to decompress while traveling. It was very open in the front and mostly quiet. The seating did look a little tight in the back. It was not very busy around 2pm; however, good enough traffic that makes me think around normal eating times they could have a wait. I tried the half Pork Chop sandwich. It was really good. Unfortunately, I did find the pork chop to be pretty thin in comparison to many places I have visited. The sides were barely more than a couple tablespoonfuls. The green beans were okay and the baked beans tasted like cheap canned beans. The best value of all was the blackberry cobbler and ice cream. Worth every penny! Ultimately, I would stop here again after trying other places around town first.Parking: One way and limited parking if they get busy.

For all that is holy do not order the fried chicken here! You will never be able to eat it anywhere else ever again. If I lived in Hannibal, MO I would weigh a lot more. The fried chicken was absolutely FANTASTIC! I think it might be the best fried chicken I have ever had. My wife let me taste her rootbeer. Holy cow! Another absolute homerun. Everyone goes to Hannibal for Mark Twain. The real reason go for the Dinette!

Maid rite Sandwich was small portions w barely any catchup, side salad was good. Menus had food caked on them & was sticky to the touch for us- we told waitress & she said “ya they’re like that” & walked off. We don’t want to cost anyone their job so hopefully a general comment on cleaning menus decently can help. Otherwise, good food & service!

We ate here two times on this trip. The venue is next door to Mark Twain’s Home. The venue is clean and comfortable. The waitresses and waiter are busy but take good care of the customers. There is a gift shop here too.By the way, my grandmother’s house was on the other side, so I have been eating here for decades. The unsinkable Moly Brown’s house is just a few blocks away.

Great diner with big portions and friendly service. We visited on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch and there were still a lot of people there, and with good reason. The food is delicious! The root beer is made in-house and also amazing. If you're going through Hannibal stop for a bite.

While traveling across country. I wanted to hit this town. Huge classic book hound. Found this dinner. Hard to miss with the spinning mug sign. Went in, a loved the decor of steamboats. Didnt know what a horseshoe dinette. Had to get it. Along with the local rootbeer. And onion ring tower. The root beer was way sweet. But tasty. The onion ring tower came out cold. But the service was great in giving me a new one. The made right burgers were different for me. It was crumbled ground beef on a bun. The horse shoe was a open face sandwich. Pro warn. You better be hungry. This place is no joke. It was the made right burger with onion rings covered in gravy. It would have ranked high if the meat had any kind of season or flavor to it.

The restaurant was clean and cozy. You'll go in looking for your favorite dish but can't help shopping at different stands with trinkets, puzzles, games and toys.FYI - the food was hot, flavorful and delicious. You'll find this jewel tucked away at the bottom of the hill next to a gentle body of water.

We came to Hannibal to check out the Mark Twain Museum. One of the ladies that worked there recommended the diner for lunch. It was great. We ordered the pickle fries (as an app)Ol’ Portobello burger, Dinette horseshoe, Tenderloin, Steampunk burger, onion rings, & chocolate milkshake. We were all super pleased with our selections. The portobello burger was one of their veggie selections; they have gluten free and vegan options in the menu too. Their menu has lots options for the whole family to enjoy. The waitress brought all four of us their homemade root beer to sample and it was delicious! If you like root beer, this will be a special treat for you. Everyone was attentive and sweet, so we will def be back!

We were driving through Hannibal and got hungry! We placed a to go order, and the person who brought our order out was so friendly. They were kind and helpful.I wanted my husband to try a Maid-Rite, so that was the reason we stopped by! I ordered it greasy and with cheese, and he complained about it being greasy. Ha! That is my fault, not the restaurant's. He did like everything else about it.The milkshakes were fantastic. I ordered a Huckleberry shake, and he got a chocolate malt. We were both pleased. I ordered the vegan chicken tenders, and I hated them. Again, this is not the restaurant's fault, the brand that makes them usually has great food, but these were a miss for me! They were way too hard, chewy, and flavorless! My favorite thing was definitely the onion rings with chili ranch dipping sauce. So good!

This was an incredible diner! The service was exceptional and the food was delectable! I am planning to visit in the fall. It was a wonderful experience, I can't wait to try more from the menu, my kids are 10 years apart, and they both loved it!

I haven't had a Maid-Rite in a very long time, and theirs didn't disappoint. The staff was young, but so helpful and kind. This would be a great place to take a family with young kids. Especially with the attached game store right there! Clean dining area and gender neutral restrooms. I would definitely go again for a fast and innexpensive bite to eat.

This was a quintessential stop for lunch in the historic Mississippi River Town of Hannibal, Missouri. A mainstay restaurant known for their Maid-Rite sandwiches, Southern Fried Chicken (25 minutes), homemade root beer, and beer-battered onion rings. A pleasant dining space with charm and character. The food was delicious and plated nicely. Service was excellent with a smile!

Fantastic! This is a really great restaurant. The in house made root beer is really good. The food was excellent. The maid rites had great flavor. Big portions too. Figure $12 a person. Give them a try.

The Home Made Old Fashioned Root Beer is spectacular! Had a great lunch there. The dipping sauce they sent with the onion rings was made in-house and was superb. The staff was awesome. The Tenderloin was enormous and delicious.. Almost needed two buns..

I ordered online for a pick up at a certain time. I stood around waiting for my order for 20 minutes. The salad I ordered can with giant chunks of apple that were half dark brown and the cucumbers were half rotten. The salad mix tasted old. I gave it to my chickens.
