This is a hidden gem in North County. The quality of service, expertise and knowledge are by far the best in the St. Louis area. I came with a fish in a bucket on the brink of death, and they instantly told me what I needed and what to do. And seeing that I was on a budget, I was given the immediate and intermediate things to do. Found out this fish is a Red Terror Cichlid and they provided me with the food that he likes and all things needed to keep him healthy. They have some beautiful fish here so if you're looking to start an aquarium or you're an experienced aquarium keeper and want to add to your tank, head to Malawi Aquatics for any needs you have have.

If you like freshwater tropical fish and want more than just guppies, neons and swordtails, Malawi is THE PLACE to go. I am an avid Cichlid collector and their stock and choice of Cichlids are second to none. They have large beautiful colored fish as well as juveniles that have a long life ahead of them to grow big and colorful.Bought a dozen or so fish over the years and not once did they get sick or introduce a disease to my tank. The store also helped me get a good deal on a 120 gallon fish tank so I could have large cichlids and breed them and working with Malawi was the best choice I’ve ever made in my time collecting Cichlids.They also have plenty of other kinds of freshwater fish and always have something cool and unique in stock. Their prices are also good, a little higher than Petsmart or other chains, but I’m more than willing to pay a little extra to help support a local small business.Employees and smart and knowledgeable and are fun and enjoyable to talk to. Also, being a wheelchair user, it was hard sometimes to get around in their store but they always helped me get to where I needed to go and always made sure I left the store with a smile on my face.Whether you are a beginner or experienced fish collector, you gotta check out Malawi. You won’t be disappointed 👍

Red is the man he knows his stuff you need advice on cichlids of any kind breeding etc water conditions free water testing etc. If you're looking for a hard to find part for your aquarium pump lights etc they will find it for you,, they breed a lot of their own fish so you know you're going to purebred species they've helped me out several tags nice bunch of guys I recommend them to anybody.

This store is great. Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Awesome selection of fish. Fish are larger than what you can usually get online or in other fish stores. I recently stopped by this shop while traveling through StL and found myself thrilled. Their fish stock are beautiful, large and healthy. The selection of supplies and equipment was great. In particular their rock and decor variety far surpass most any other shop. I also found the staff very knowledgeable and friendly. This is one of the only fish stores that I've been in that had a true community feel to it. It was evident that this was a unique place for friends to meet, hangout and talk fish. Honestly it made me wish I lived in the area.
