Sam is an excellent customer service representative and knows his stuff. I told him what happened to me with the synthetic hair that was put in my head and how I had an allergic reaction to it. He told me exactly what to do to help my scalp to restore its PH balance which was to rinse my hair with some apple cider vinegar and water. I had no problems afterwards. My hair was cute though when it was done, but that type of hair is not for me at all. I have a super sensitive scalp. At the time, I wasn't thinking about cuteness. I wanted it out of my head. I wish he had 100% human hair available. I probably wouldn't have had that problem. Super nice and smart guy. I see why people go to him to buy their products.

My ex had a disease called alopecia which caused her to not grow any hair. So she got weaves put in because they looked better and were easier than a wig. This place always gave her a discount because the owner knew she needed the hair to be normal and was always friendly. Very nice of him. I will always praise this business.

Went in to check out their inventory, no greeting and no offer to help find any products which is like the opposite of any other beauty supply I've ever been in. Wanted to see their false eyelash selection, specifically the magnetic liner type. Finally was shown the tiny selection, and a handmade sign read $7.99 right below the magnetic liner. Grabbed a liner and a set of lashes ($5.99 by sign) and went to check out. Clerk refused to allow me to test any fragrances that are displayed in case at counter. Then my total was $29.88. I asked how is that and was told "that's what it comes to." I asked for the price on each item and she couldn't tell me, then I asked about the sign on the rack where the items were and she said that sale had ended. I said it would be cool to get the price that was on the signs, it didn't say special or sale price etc. Then another employee came over and tried saying the same thing. I didn't make the purchase and told them to take down the signs if the sale was over. They LAUGHED at me, which makes me think the signs did reflect the correct price and I for some reason was getting overcharged. Doubt I go back....

My favorite place!!!!!! Have all the newest trends and accessories, and pretty always has a sale. She has plus size and cute sandals and heels. If you haven't been there you must be square!!!! She's moving into a bigger space, so that means more styles and accessories for meeee!!!!! #EXCITED

UPDATE- 7 Day Exchange Policy, be aware or you will have to go through this.Hire some better workers. I went to exchange 2 bags of braiding hair that was the wrong color (due to the fact that the hair wasn’t stocked properly because all the hair in the front were 4 which is the color that I needed so I just grabbed a bunch), however the workers Niyah, Missy, Ciara were not able to assist me and refused to contact the supervisor to resolve the issue. The hair has NOT been opened. Also, I paid $5.99 for the bags of hair that I bought. The hair that I was trying to do the exchange with is $2.99 (I also was NOT asking for a refund) just to switch out for the cheaper hair because that’s the only kind that was in stock similar to the kind that I have. They stated that the supervisor “had a life and better things to do and wouldn’t answer the phone even if they did call him” and continued to laugh and giggle and text on their phones. In addition, I called up there before I went to exchange the hair and was told by Niyah that I could do the exchange and they would hold the hair at the front for me. However, when I got to the store, it was something completely different. It’s crazy because I go there all the time. Trust me, that won’t be the case after this experience. Very unprofessional and rude. Terrible way to do business. I’ll just make sure to get my stuff online in the future.

This is my go to shop in Columbia for my lashes, they always have what I need. The only reason I cannot provide a 5 star review and was going to leave a 3 star but my very last experience coming in to the location made up for the previous time before that. Which I believe the owner was then running the register and was a very nice woman. The time I came in before I came to purchase maybe 4 pairs of lashes and my total came to $30 which I thought to myself seemed odd and when I got to my car to check my receipt there was someone running the register that scanned hair for herself onto my transaction. It was the same type of hair she had been wearing that day. I used to work in retail customer service for 7 years being an assistant manager for 3 of those years, I know the signs of behind the counter theft. The woman was being overly friendly making small talk with me to distract me from me not noticing she scanned the hair and then I thought she was just being nice when she was stating out loud she was giving me an employee discount which I saw was for the hair on the receipt. I came back inside not happy about the situation at that point another girl was at the register and she refunded me the price of the hair that was scanned. Just wanted to let people know if seems that the owners are now on location running things but if not definitely check your receipts.

Huge selection, fair prices, owner is super nice and he is super helpful; past that your on your own. When I don't see the owner there, staff is rude and not worth there weight in pennies. Even without a helpful staff, it truly is the best place in Columbia I've found for hair, wigs, & supplies providing you already know what you want.

When the name was changed from Sammie's to Lux the customer service went down!! Way down!!! The Lux clerks are not even knowledgeable about the products they are selling. The Lux clerks act like my money is not needed!! Won't be back!!!!

I actually have NEVER been treated poorly by the employees of this shop. In there, I am a clueless white woman who spends a lot of time bothering them with tons of questions, and all I get are great answers, warm "you're welcomes," and friendly checkouts. I think that the inventory is incredible and that the employees work really hard to help you find what you need! Sometimes you DO have to find them and ask for help, and they may not always say hello when you walk in... But... So what? That is like a lot of places, and I don't find it offensive.The store is also AMAZINGLY neat and organized. I appreciate that 100%.

The customer was great. Their selection of human hair was awful. The “bundles” I bought was processed hair. The worst quality hair I’ve ever bought. Didn’t even hold a curl for more than ten mins. Will not return or recommend.

I just pulled up to sami’s at 7:45 pm and the doors were already closed at and open sign was off when it says the store closes at 8:00 pm. And after I pulled up two other cars proceeded to pull into the parking lot and they were just as confused as me as to why you all were closed. There was no note or sign on the door explaining why you guys were closed already and that’s a problem. All I needed to purchase was gel I’ve noticed the service here has not been the same lately and I am a reoccurring customer here. You guys are the only beauty supply store in Columbia so it would be really helpful if you were more of convenience and reliable for your reliable and supportive customers thank you.

Store was clean, but not well stocked at all. Most braiding hair was out of stock. Barely has shades 1 and 1b. Employees had TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, WERE SITTING DOWN NOT GREETING CUSTOMERS DIDN'T ASK IF CUSTOMERS NEEDED HELP AT ALL. EMPLOYEES WERE ON THEIR PHONES NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO CUSTOMERS. Will NOT return unless its urgent, will continue to shop online. What's the point in having a job if you're going to be on your phone all day? Employees need to understand that without customers there's no business and no job.

I’ve been coming to this beauty supply store exclusively since I moved to Columbia about a year and a half ago, but I will no longer be going there. Last week, I purchased some bundles with a 360 frontal because I wanted to try a new look. I had never done bundles and a frontal before, so I asked a lot of questions to make sure I was getting the right (and quality) products, especially if I was going to spend so much money. They only had one kind of 360 frontal, and I specifically asked the sales girl whether the frontal went with the bundles. She told me that it did.The frontal and bundles did not match and it was only during installation that it came to light. Not only did the texture not match, but the colors were vastly different.When I went back, the same day of installation, to show them the difference, the owner hands me a bottle of black hair color and tells me to dye the bundles and go “be happy”. No apology was given. Also, his proposed “fix” was no fix because it wouldn’t be enough to cover all the bundles and it’s a rinse so coverage would not be that strong.I am disappointed with how I was misled. There should be some integrity in how a business is run. I will not be going back there.

I happen to be using my mother's phone, my name is Katherine Thompson. I live 3 hrs. away in Iowa & visit this beauty supply store about every two mo. when I come to visit my nieces that are only 5,10, & 13 yrs. old. as I am a cosmetologist living in a smaller town & really appreciate the variety & low prices without the longer drive to Chicago.Well, I decided to take my nieces & my mom with me this time so the girls could each pick out something for themselves as a treat instead of just buying necessities for them. Well, we walked into a pretty empty store like 5 white ducks in a row & then I heard rolling, hysterical laughter for a VERY long time from 2 or 3 girls sitting far behind the counter. Coincidence? BIG coincidence....they were initially looking right at us & following with their eyes with no greeting from a single person (which I'm used to).As per usual, I shopped with no assistance offered until I approached a friendly looking associate while this time I literally heard EVERY person (of different ethnicities) greeted when they came in. Sounds unlikely, but you better believe I was paying attention like a hawk. Sounds like the clerks would improve if they received commission. Vosha was a kind, knowledgeable, & patient sales associate.POINT BEING, I really don't care...but when you act like that towards CHILDREN (that were very well behaved btw), they notice. As their aunt who is stepping in to utilize your store because they lost their mother in the last year & I have to do a lot in a short visit; I REALLY could do without this type of thing. And as a cosmetologist & former employee of a Sally's, I feel I have an educated opinion.

My daughter and I have been in this store twice. It says Great Customer Service on the door, what I encountered was FAR LESS than great. The employee that was there today, hardly looked up from her phone to help us. I will not step foot back in this place. Very unfriendly and unwilling to help at all!!! I was planning on purchasing at least $100 worth of hair stuff here but I took my business elsewhere!

I pulled up to Sami’s at 7:45 to purchase some gel and for some reason the sign is off and the building is pitch black. That’s ridiculous! Called several times and was sent to voicemail each time. 3 other cars pulled up at the same time as I and we all had to leave. I’m not understanding why the store would be closing early, the service has not been the same for the last 3 years. Im a regular customer and dread going to the store now. One of the young ladies is constantly giving me dirty looks making me feel unwelcome, I feel like I’m going to have go to a different city to get my hair supplies which would be fitting because the store no longer has the essentials anymore.
