We recently stayed at the B&B for a wedding getaway and it was an incredible experience. I usually don't write reviews, but I was blown away, so I had to. The Inn is beautiful, meticulously clean and the rooms are spacious. The bed was comfortable and we loved having a soaker tub.The owners are so friendly and accommodating. The best part though??The FOOD. The breakfast was delicious. Do yourself a favor and ask the staff to prepare your lunch/dinner one night. It will be worth the price and then some. The food was incredible. Everything was homemade and flavorful. We'll definitely be back.

The location is in the heart of the town, the rooms are clean and comfortable. The bathrooms in the rooms OPEN decor. The hot tub was not working and we did not try the sauna. If you’re going and you expect to see some farm animals, they have been moved. Our meals were delicious, you won’t be disappointed. The gardens need a little more attention, Trimming, more flower boxes, etc. Not far from Elephant Rock. All in all, I think you will enjoy you time here.Here.

What a wonderful experience! We spent our first anniversary at the Old Caledonian and everything was perfect! The room was spacious, very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Michael, the proprietor, was gracious and available when needed. He prepared delicious and interesting meals, with beautiful presentation. We chose to have dinner at the inn both evenings and it was fantastic! He prepared the meals with ingredients from his own farm. We had the beef tenderloin and salmon. My husband remarked that after forty years of business travel across the nation, the meals were as good as he had ever had.Caledonia is such a quaint place as well as convenient to St Louis. If you enjoy a lovely setting as well as great food, we encourage you to spend some time at the Old Caledonian.Rooms: The rooms are very large and comfortable.Nearby activities: Antiquing, history, hiking all nearbyFood & drinks: Wonderful meals freshly prepared

Everyone gives great reviews, I mostly agree with the comments; however, there are some things that can be improved and people be made aware of.Food quality and presentation is very perfect, just be prepared for goat cheese.Rooms DO NOT have a shower, for a large man this does become an issue.DO NOT book any room other than the purple room. Believe it or not, at night / early morning there is a ridiculous amount of large truck traffic. J-braking, peeling out, making a ridiculous amount if noise. To the point that they issue ear plugs so you can sleep. Come on Caledonia .... do something about this if you want tourists to come back repeatedly. Some grounds maintenance could also be done, trimming low hanging branches, etc. Also .... no where on their site does it indicate that a automatic 20% tip will be added to your bill at checkout. The $80 per meal, for two, was already pushing the value / cost boundary plus the guest was already spending multiple nights there.Bottom line is this ..... it was a neat old stay, but we will not be back.

The minute I walked in, I felt at home. Michael, the innkeeper and chef, made me felt welcome. The accommodations were beautiful, bed was comfy, the food was beyond delicious. I went there to just relax, decompress, and spend time in the beautiful setting and, of course, interact with the animals. I was the only guest there from Monday morning till Tuesday morning and I enjoyed having the opportunity to chat with Michael. When I left, I felt I was leaving a friend! I will be back!

We were a bit apprehensive about keeping our booking after the last owners sold to the new owners - we were excited to try their vegan menu and have a unique experience.Wow - were we glad we ended up keeping our reservation !! Michael and Frank were incredible hosts. From arranging and cooking our delicious dinners to taking great care that we had everything we needed. The breakfasts were also incredible with farm fresh ingredients- eggs from their chickens, homemade goat cheese, fresh baked bread - delicious. They will accommodate vegan and other diet preferences as well.Caledonia is a very sweet town with welcoming people- a great launching spot for Johnson Shut Ins, Elephant Rocks, wineries, and a ton of great state parks and activities. Definitely will be back!!

Mike and Frank are incredible hosts and have thought of every detail to make your stay cozy and luxurious. The bed was comfy, the food was absolutely delicious, and we really enjoyed the sauna and full spa experience provided! The house is decorated in such a way that you feel as if you are truly escaping to the 19th century. We loved meeting their dogs (and kittens!)Also--make sure and purchase some of Mike's decadent homemade goat cheese logs- truly a treat. We plan on returning for another stay and would highly recommend this unique and elegant B & B experience. :)

Mike and Frank are the best hosts. Staying at their place was like walking into your best friends' home and them spoiling you rotten while you are there. The food was amazing. The facilities impeccably clean. The atmosphere welcoming...sitting rooms, puzzles, games, a library, gazebo, sauna, hot tub, close to quaint shops, and so much more.

Such a lovely visit to my hometown where I visit only every 10 years. So happy to find this bed and breakfast in charming Caledonia Missouri, population 130. Michael and Frank make you feel so welcome and right at home. In fact, because of them, we have decided we will always look for a B&B while traveling. We even played a game of checkers in the library. The hot tub and sauna were nice touches, as well as the farm animals in the back. Not to mention the perfect accommodations and delicious home-cooked meals available. Must visit!

A couple of weeks ago my fiance and I stayed here for our anniversary and it was by far the greatest lodging experience we have had. The home is beautiful and filled with warmth. The food that was prepared for us was completely vegan and homemade by chef John and was absolutely delicious. We had afternoon tea that was paired with plant based treats with a wide selection of teas. We chose to add on the dinner and the three course meal was out of this world. Aside from all the yummy food there were several amenities to make our stay quiet and relaxing like the spa tub, the sauna and the yoga studio. This experience was the real deal and such a unique getaway in Caledonia, MIssouri. John was a wonderful and down to earth host and we look forward to our next stay at the Old Caledonian Inn. Thank you!

I stayed at Old Caledonia B&B during the week of June 21 - it was absolutely perfect. Michael was attentive, informative, and welcoming. The rooms where beautiful and comfortable. The property has a little zoo, which was fun to visit each day. I had dinner two of the nights and breakfast each morning, the meals were consistently great. I'll definitely return.

Had a fun girls weekend at the Old Caledonian. The hosts were beyond gracious and so much fun! Lovely accommodations in a beautiful historic property. Our room was immaculate. The garden, flowers, pond, all made for a lovely relaxing retreat. The animals were a delight.I could go on and on about the delicious farm to table cuisine. Town is small but lots of fun crafty shops. It was a wonderful getaway and look forward to doing it again!

The Old Caledonian Bed bad Breakfast has to be one of my favorite places! My husband I and I were married by John, one of the owners, and he made sure everything was perfect! We got the elopement package. Not only was the ceremony wonderful, but lunch was prepared for us and the wedding party and guests after the ceremony, and it was phenomal! I am a vegetarian, and they were very accommodating and made sure that I had my own amazing dish. On top of lunch, my husband and I were served a private dinner for two the night of the wedding, and once again the food was so good! They treated us so well, and always made sure that we had anything we needed or wanted. We had a few sunflowers incorporated into the wedding, this was not mentions to the Bed and Breakfast owners, however, when we came back for lunch they had gone out to get some fresh sunflowers to decorate the room, and sunflower petals were also incorporated into our private dinners desert! We also had a tea time each afternoon that we stayed, where we were served our choice of hot tea along with a light snack. The room were gorgeous. Almost all the rooms had a beautiful claw foot bath tub, and more than enough space. Overall 5/5, and we will be going back for every anniversary that we can. Our wedding would not have been nearly as amazing as it was without the help of one of the owners, John. Love this place so much!

Jon is a great host and AMAZING chef. Don’t let the vegan fare make you second guess - if you love good food you will love Jon’s cooking. The Inn is beautiful and the hot tub rocks. There is also massage and yoga area but we came during this covid stuff so Jon has made some small alterations to what’s available. It was a nice stay. When we come back we will definitely make dinner reservations here too because the restaurant choices aren’t the greatest around here if your a foodie.

It was a wonderful experience! Frank and Michael were so accommodating as soon as we arrived. They showed us to our room, which was beautifully clean. They encouraged us to check out the local store on the road, as well as, provided us with their own delicious foods. I would recommend anyone passing through to stay here! We will most definitely be back ourselves.

Just got home from staying here and we already can’t wait to go back! The food is absolutely outstanding whether you are vegan or just love great food. Jon is truly a top notch chef whose food belongs in a high-end restaurant - so inventive and delicious! The house is historic and beautiful but also extremely nice and comfortable. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The grounds are lovely and peaceful. The location is great on a cute Main Street with lots of beautiful state parks and hiking within a short drive. They are doing a great job of making it a safe place to be despite the coronavirus with lots of reasonable measures. Jon and Penny really make it feel like home. Can’t possibly recommend it more highly as a relaxing and enjoyable destination!

Our family spent Father's Day at The Old Caledonian and had a great time! John and Penny have a beautiful place. We really enjoyed our tea and had a great breakfast. We are not vegan, but really enjoyed the food. John's chef skills are pretty amazing.John gave us information about the home and surrounding area. We went to Elephant Rocks State Park on Father's Day and then Johnson Shut-ins the next.We wish we had a second evening to spend at the Old Caledonian. We will certainly return!

This historic inn is a beautiful house built in 1849. Innkeepers Penny and Jon are amazing hosts, ensuring our ultimate comfort. The house and our room was beautiful and spotless, very comfortable bed. The breakfasts by Chef Jon was the best that we have ever had at a B&B. His signature dish, Scotch eggs, was fantastic. Teatime with homemade scones and Scotch butter cookies, along with a choice of gourmet teas was delicious. Breakfast on the second day, "Caledonia Benedict", made with Jon's homemade sausage was amazing. The grounds are beautiful, we spent some time in the gazebo, taking in the beautiful grounds with many birds, and a koi pond. The area is steeped in Civil War history and great wineries. This was a most memorable stay. We'll be back here for sure.

My wife and I spent a night at the Old Caledonian Bed & Breakfast and left wishing we were spending five more nights. It is an incredible home with historical significance, lots of room and outside gardens to relax in solitude. The location is perfect with lots of options within a short distance for those who enjoy the outdoors, historic sites, and antiques. The experience provided by our hosts, John and Penny, was awesome. We felt welcomed from the time we pulled into the lot and never had a need or want that was not met or already considered. But the best part of our stay was John's creative and incredible menu. If you stay at the Old Caledonian you have to get dinner! My wife and I will be back as soon as we can.

Penny and Jon truly have a wonderful place to stay. The rooms are spacious and full of old charm. The bed was supremely comfortable. And the food! Breakfast was delicious! And the dinner Jon cooked for us — superb! Old Caledonian gave us just what we wanted: a quiet place to get away and relax, with things to do and see in the area. Jon and Penny are truly gracious hosts.

Old Caledonian Bed and Breakfast was beyond perfect. Jon and Penny are such amazing hosts! The food was amazing, our room (The Heather) was beautiful and we really enjoyed our stay. This B&B is in the most adorable little town but so close to amazing parks and cute little shops! We will be back again for sure!
