We adopted our precious pup from HFLCS and we had a very pleasant experience. I can tell they really care about the animals they take in. Also, they called me back in a very reasonable amount of time! Thank you!!!!!

So far so good. He whines some at night when we put Bentley in his kennel. Other than that he is a great little boy. A little lover...

I had been looking all weekend for a new dog to add to the family. This group had a beautiful red husky that I was hoping to look at and see how she interacted with my current husky. One of the gentlemen asked if he could help and my mother and I let him know we were interested in the red husky, he called a very nice young man to get her out. Very quickly a woman working with the group came up and told us tersely that she was holding it for someone inside for 30 minutes. Ok, understandable, however while my mother and the nice young man were just looking at the dog's information sheet, the woman yanked the cage open and took off with the dog inside without a word. The young man seemed confused at her behavior as well. My mom and I waited for several minutes to see if the woman would come out to inform us if the dog was adopted or not, however she never did. We only found out when the new owners walked out with the dog. I'm sure the dog found a wonderful home, but was quite irritated at this woman's lack of speaking to us to let us know the dog was yes in fact adopted. We never did see her come out of the store. Most of the staff working for this rescue were polite and helpful, however this lady seems to need some courses in speaking with humans as other staff questioned where did she go.Don't judge a dog by the response of certain staff though! Just a warning if you have to interact with this particular woman.

They never answer the phone. It takes days for them to get back to you, if ever. Recommend you find another more reliable rescue that will have human beings that answer the phone or get back to you in a few hours. If you have any issues you're on your own.Update: A year later. Called again and it went direct to voicemail. I think their ringer is turned off. Five days later and still waiting for a return call. I recommend you go with a shelter that responds within a reasonable time or has someone who has the technical ability to operate a telephone. If you have a question or an emergency you may lose your furbaby before these folks even consider contacting you.

(Tldr: Customer service sucks for people who are trying to get dogs and cats adopted. I'll never adopted from them.)I spoke with a man who was very nice, and we spoke about me adopting a dog through them. I walk around with the dog, it had clearly not been walked in a while (which is the norm for shelter dogs), but I was loving her regardless.I was concerned that my work and school schedule would be too much, and asked one lady Donna if I could try it for a week. She just glared and said no the only choice would be to adopted and then return her if it didn't work out (this would also mean paying the $150 to $200 no matter what). I told her that as a student it's a little hard to donate that and not get it back without knowing if it's a good fit. I want the dog to have the best home and I know I could take care of her, I just don't want it to be a bad fit and sometimes you just don't know until you get home. After school I would love to donate to places like this, but $200 is a bit much especially for an adoption fee.I told her I would think about it and wanted to talk it over with my friends. We all agreed no, just because it's a little hard since the dog was older and being uncertain. On my way out the nice gentleman stopped us before and ask me about adopting again. I said Donna told me that I couldn't try it for a week and he seemed confused by that (like he thought that was fine) but I asked if I could just take the dog for a day and decided. He directed me toward "the boss" a different lady. So I asked about the day thing, she said no, I can only do that for a week. This surprised me because I had already been told no on this. I mentioned that and she said that I could foster her for a week and bring her back next Saturday if it was not a good fit. This meant that I would be a volunteer and only pay when I adopted. I filled out all the paperwork, and just as I was about to take her home, the lady stops me and said, you were already told no, by Donna, you were trying to go behind my back and we aren't going to do that, she then proceeded to blame me. I responded by telling her I let her know one lady said yes and I was a little upset that she was addressing it like this (if she just said, I'm sorry we're going to say no and honor Donna's decision, I would have been a little upset but understood). She kept blaming me and being very unprofessional about it considering she's "the boss" and left by saying I would be a terrible owner. So I will never adopted from them. The prices are too high, they suck at communication and they don't have the best interest of the dogs. If it was just because they didn't want the dog to be taken from place to place, then that's one thing. But I got five different answers from three different people. The dogs are not let out enough and they didn't even have the right gender on the sign for the one I wanted to adopt. I almost think that these animals would be better anywhere else. They also spoke poorly of those that have adopted previously. This is probably some of the worst customer service apart from the gentleman that I spoke with first. They should let him run things.
