The hostess gave us such a warm welcome and such detailed instructions on how to get to the accommodation. She even stayed up to greet us as we were arriving quite late after a long drive. We stayed at Koinania Valley over Christmas, so to ensure we were having a good time she gave us access to a TV and a large movie collection. The accommodation was so comfortable and well thought out, a lot of attention was payed to furnishing and decorating it. There were also some beautiful, friendly cats that roam freely. Overall a wonderful place to stay, thoroughly enjoyed it.

My time spent in Koinania, however brief, brought with it a sense of calm that you would only expect from a land so serene. The cabin I stayed at sat beside a small pond fed by a stream that originated somewhere up in the mountains. I found myself walking beside this stream for a time until I came upon a natural fjord. Upon passing over this, I followed what path there was until the terrain became as such that I no longer could. Instead I took to the creek bed itself and traveled for the better part of an hour with water in my boots, and a heart full of the beauty of the place. Gods walk this land, their origin I do not know.

We had a fabulous experience with our scouting troop this past weekend. We had special permission to tent camp, and we woke up to the most beautiful view! We used the Ranch House West for the bathrooms and kitchen facilities, and found it to be spacious, extremely clean, and well kept. I had read online that the kitchen had pots and pans, but it also had a crock pot, waffle maker, measuring cups, coffee maker, etc. I really didn’t need to bring anything but our food! Looking forward to coming back again another time. Time spent and the creek and a super friendly kitten were girl favorites for sure. Thanks for a great weekend!

I absolutely enjoyed my time here! The owners are absolutely amazing ❣️ If you are looking for somewhere to enjoy your time with family, revaluate life, no service, no TV or escape from the busy world. This is the place!

An absolutely amazing experience! We rented the whole ranch for a family reunion (41 people ages 4-73) in June. Our experience was exactly what we hoped for! Upon arriving, it was obvious that the ranch is a bit secluded (in the forest, down a gravel road), and we were worried it might be closer to camping than we wanted. That worry vanished as soon as we stepped into the modern, air-conditioned, lovely buildings. My wife complained (I didn't) that the ac was too cold! Kitchens were up-to-date (nicer than mine at home!), and there was plenty of comfortable seating. The pond was an immediate and constant draw for all of the kids, and the amount of activities provided (paddle boats, games, movies, etc) was more than enough to keep all occupied! Some of the youth complained about the (very) limited wi-fi, but that was a positive for us as it encouraged them to disconnect from their devices and interact with one another. The private access to the Black river was wonderful - especially with the accommodations there (picnic table, covered gazebo, etc), and was visited often. Owners were amazing - more than willing to help in any way desired. When we had an issue with a caterer, they (the owners) immediately tried to help come up with possible solutions. Also, when we had an incident (someone slipped in the gravel and broke their leg), the owners did everything they could to help make sure we focused on our needs and not worry about the ranch. It truly was an amazing ranch with everything we wanted! Oh - and if you get the chance to try the goat's milk ice cream, make sure to get strawberry - it is the best strawberry ice cream you'll taste!

We asked Emily if we could do a quilt retreat and she said she would love to do that! We were her first and it won’t be her last! She had the tables all set up for us.. she can have 6 quilters comfortable. She had an ironing board and iron for us. We told her how to make some design walls! We brought some for us.Emily’s cooking is excellent..home cooking and sooooo good!! We had an awesome time and we are definitely booking next year!I highly recommend trying this place out and I’m sure it won’t be your last!

Three of us couples rented the west wing for a long weekend. We enjoyed fishing in the pond as well as the creek immensely. Caught a few good size smallmouths in the creek and tossed them into the pond. It rained off and on all four days that we were there, but we had a fabulous time. The huge covered porch was fantastic. After we left, we realized that we never even sat in the living room once during our entire stay. I’m quite sure we will all be coming back. Might become an annual thing!

Just came back from a scrapbooking retreat with girlfriends. We stayed at Koinania in the Hummingbird House for the first time but most certainly won't be the last. Great experience in a spotless place with delicious food. The very best Chicken Pot pie I ever tasted. Lovely property to roam and explore. A wonderful extensive collection of DVDs to watch while you crop. Our hostess Emily and her family are so kind, friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend.

We had an amazing stay for my brothers wedding. The owners were very friendly folks and really let us have our way with the place. They were close enough to help but far enough to give you your space to let lose. There's a spring fed pond with paddle boats, it was great for swimming and fishing. We reeled in 6 large mouth during our stay, the bass were a bit picky, but it didn't take long before we figured out what they will hit on. There is a crystal clear stream that was also great for swimming. Bring water shoes the rocks aren't easy to walk on. There were some decent size fish coming through but I didn't put in a line. If you are looking to get away this is the place,, its not near anything! So Bring food and ice in with you. However the kitchen was stocked with plenty of utensils to cook and eat with, glasses, pots, pans, the living quarters was very cozy and there was no shortage of grills, chairs, shade trees, and green grass for the kids to play. There are a few fire pits set up for small bon fires with hoses nearby. Our only complaint was Bella, she was so loving and friendly and the little kids were ready for all that puppy love. Nobody was hurt, it just wasn't a good setting for a puppy. The owners were quick and happy to help so that quickly became a non issue. The pictures really don't do the place any justice. The view was amazing the stay was wonderful! We just got home and the family is already asking when we can go back!

Such a beautiful and relaxing place. Enjoyed spending time with my kids without having their faces glued to their phones. My granddaughters loves the play house and the dress up toys they provide. Loved having the dvds to watch when they needed to wind down. Very clean, they have everything just in case you forget something. Will definitely be returning for a longer stay.

Great place to stay if you are looking for seclusion and a beautiful area. The cabin was clean and comfortable. We loved playing in the river. The crystal blue water is so inviting and it has a nice beach area too. Mary was very accommodating and friendly. She went out of her way to help us out. We used her shuttle services and when we had to bail from a backpacking trip early she brought our car to us which saved us then let us camp by the river. Highly recommended!

I can't say enough good things. I ended up hurting my foot while hiking the Ozark Trail, it was getting worse quickly to the point I could barely walk the next day after I got off trail, and my trip was dramatically cut short by many days. One of the owners came and picked up up last minute on a Sunday and drove me hours back to my car. They went the extra mile and are worth supporting for that reason alone.

We selected Koinania because from the very first email Mary was extremely helpful and responsive. This carried through for our entire stay. We have never stayed anywhere with such wonderful owners. After 5 minutes it felt like we were staying at a friend's place. We stayed in the West Wing that has a fantastic covered deck, nice kitchen and big dining table, and perfect rooms to sleep in.The location is fantastic. If your looking for peace and quiet - this is the place. The road to get there is hilly and windy - just take it slow and enjoy. Our trip was four buddies from Minnesota who used ranch to access the Ozark Trail for some mountain biking. It was perfect. The Ozark Trail in this area is not for beginners. It would be great for any hiking level. If we could give it 6 stars we would!

Emily shuttled for a small group of us on an ozark trail hike. She was incredibly easy to work with and accommodating even with us making a few last minute adjustments to our schedule. I highly recommend!

This is an amazing place to stay! The hosts are wonderful and helped us out on a few items we failed to bring with us.When you pull in, the grounds are so neat and maintained with plenty of room to roam. We stayed in the Ranch House East which was very spacious, very clean, and had everything we needed to make our own meals. It had plenty of options like books, magazines, board games, and activities we never got around to. So much thought is put into this place by the hosts. Our kids loved the ranch house, playing in the crystal clear water that is private and secluded, the paddle boats just a few feet away from the loding, and the beautiful view of the stars at night. This place is very remote and when all of the lights from the lodging gets shut off at night there is a one-of-a-kind view of a sky filled with stars. We were lucky and stayed a couple of nights that had clear skies without a moon in the first few hours of night. In those viewing conditions we could make out some clouds of the Milky Way with our naked eye after just a couple of minutes of letting our eyes adjust. The sky just looked like glitter on a clear night. It is beyond words! This is place is fantastic!

We were so lucky to find this place for our latest trip to SE Missouri. It's the perfect place to get away and get back to nature. The cabin was clean, cozy, and the bed was nice!! We had everything we needed. It was picturesque with a pond just outside our door with a paddle boat! We've gotten to the age we prefer to be in a cabin instead of camp and this place way exceeded our expectations. 5 stars!

We had an amazing time at the ranch! The cabin/house was very well-kept and clean. The facilities were in good condition as well and the location we put up tents in was nice. The views there were amazing and our scouts enjoyed playing in the creek nearby. The ranch also had options for more casual campers or glampers to enjoy staying there as well. We had fun helping on the ranch and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. Would definitely return for another stay!

If you are looking for a peaceful place out in the country to unwind and get away from it all, this is the place!! The hosts are wonderful, the facilities are top notch, and the setting is gorgeous. We have gone to Elephant Rocks and Johnson Shut-Ins, and both sites were huge hits with the family. On the resort grounds, there is ample space for hiking and exploring in the creeks and woods, not to mention fishing or paddle-boating. There are also ample movies and books if you prefer to curl up and relax. I highly recommend Koinania Valley Ranch Family Resort, and look forward to when I can return!

Wonderful! Our family stayed in the cottage and loved it. Very accommodating. Beautiful scenery. Relaxing. Peaceful. Friendly. The kids enjoyed feeding the horses, playing in the clubhouse and creek, walking the trail to the spring, hanging out on the beach and playing in the water...learning to skip rocks, and everything in-between. We made a lot of memories that our family will talk about for years. We can’t wait to visit again!

When we arrived for a scout camping event, Mary was waiting for us and gave us a tour of the accommodations available. She was friendly and the facility was lovely and clean. We made great use of the kitchen and found it very well stocked! We also had a fire pit for roasting s'mores, a fun covered porch for hanging out, and a beautiful view of the St. Francois mountains. We also enjoyed Koinana Valley's river access, which was a lovely spot with water tumbling over rocks and lots of birds, fish, and butterflies. This is a gorgeous area, and Mary was such a gracious hostess! Highly recommend.

Koinania Valley Ranch was the perfect spot for our family reunion. Duane and Mary were absolutely lovely people and were very accommodating. The facilities were wonderful with plenty of room to be together (or to get away if you wanted to nap). It was amazing to completely unplug from phones, IPads and computers and the crazy thing was that not one of the 7 kids (10 and under) said they were bored!! Thank you for the wonderful memories!

Our family of 44 just spent the week! If you are looking for a non-tourist place where your family can spend together enjoying each other and the beauty of God's earth, this is the right place for you! We thoroughly enjoyed our time there! We rented the entire farm and utilized everything there. The dwellings were clean and very comfortable. The owners were very accommodating to us and very willing to help us if we needed anything. The entire farm was just charming and inviting! Thanks for giving us all an experience we won't forget!

We have been here 3 times and we always have such a fun time! My family loves this place. The river is our favorite part. Right on the property and secluded. The kids loved it! Even this time of year it was too cold to play in the water. We love this place! The owners were great and the cabins are always nice and clean. No complaints!

Our family has been using Koinania Valley Ranch for over 10+ years. Duane & Mary are incredible hosts and they have always bent over backwards to make our visits incredible. If you are looking for a location to rest & relax, this is the place to be.Great place for a retreat for men or women. Had a men's weekend retreat for 25 men at Koinania. The men were able to connect with God & nature that weekend. AMAZING!

It's such a beautiful, quite place to relax and recharge! It is backed right up to the Mark Twain National Forest so there is quite a bit of wildlife and places to go for scenic walks. There is a small pond with lots of fishing potential!!While the location is remote enough to "unplug" it is close enough to visit nearby attractions. The accommodations are nice and the kitchens are fully stocked with kitchen wear. (Make sure to bring all of the food that you might want/need as the closest grocery store is about half an hour away.)There is a great selection of movies to watch in the evenings ranging from old John Waynes to some from last year.

This place is quaint and spacious. Enough room for a small party or open the whole house for a large party. Will be doing this again. Thanks for a wonderful weekend.

5 stars all the way!! Beautiful property! It’s clean and the owners are such a sweet couple. I went running or walking every day along the gravel road and the views are spectacular! I only got to go to the creek once due to the weather, but the water is crystal clear. Made feel like I was in a Disney movie. Lol.Would recommend this place to any of my friends or family.
