This winery is on top of a hill and has a gorgeous view of the surrounding trees and land. When you enter the building, there is a tasting bar, then behind it is the check out counter. The whole process of paying and ordering was a little confusing but we eventually figured it out. At the checkout counter you can place your food order, pay for wine samples, and buy bottles of wine (and other drinks they have in upright coolers behind the checkout area). They have chilled bottles of wine if you are wanting to drink them there, and they also have non chilled ones if you are getting them to go. For the food, they give you a buzzer, and then you go to the pick up window the pick it up when it is ready. Ours took about 30 minutes. There are glasses at the check out to use to drink your wine from. I had to ask about them, the cashier did not offer them to me. Also at the check out counter you can pay for samples, then you take your receipt to the sample bar and show them and they will give your samples. It's 10 dollars for 4 samples. There are lots of seats out on their decks. They have limited covered seating. The views are gorgeous. Once you get your food and wine you go find a seat. Seats are just first come first serve. Just look for an open one or look for people that are about to leave. We brought our wine out to the table and wondered why we didn't get one of those ice bucket to keep the wine chilled. Later we saw that another table got them from somewhere inside and found out they were 2.50 a piece. As for food, I got the house salad and we got 2 of the baked brie for the table. We also got the jumbo pretzel that had cheese cubes, grapes and salami in the inner open sections of the pretzel. Everyone at the table also ordered sandwiches and salads for themselves. It was definitely enough food for a group of 7 (too much! Lol) I loved the baked Brie and the jumbo pretzel dipped in the cheese was soooo good! There were a lot of bees and my friends boyfriend got stung! They would not leave us alone! If you have food, you will have bees visiting your table.

Went here with a group of residents from where I live. On the day we were there, you went to a counter to order and they gave a device that signaled when our order was ready. It was a little slow, there was another group there as well. But it was a beautiful day and scenery was equally pleasant. The French Dip sandwich was very good with plenty of meat on it.

The view was gorgeous, and the service was great! We did a wine and spirit tasting, and our guy did an outstanding job in describing each and providing some history behind each tasting. He also explained the trolley, which we will definitely do on our next trip.

Not a wine connoisseur and went at a friend's recommendation.Had 3 wines, red , white and rose, all were really good. The buffalo pizza was amazing as wellDid get hot under direct sunlight, could use umbrellas with adjustment / tilt.Great view and weather, ride to the top was a pleasure too. Will try to visit again when in the area.

Gorgeous scenery, excellent food choices, and live music to top of a great overall ambiance for our Sunday Afternoon. We got their version of a charcuterie board (which ACTUALLY feeds the table), pretzels and garlic bread for the kiddos. The live music was yacht jam style, inviting everyone to dance along as they wish. Over all we had a great time and will return.Wine wise? Semi-sweet is sweet. Semi-dry is sweet. Heads up for those of you thinking there's a middle ground here Dry is pretty great, and sweet is flavorful for sure.

Overall a disappointing experience. The view was nice and the chardonel was good. The other wines were wanting, and the service that accompanied them was lackluster, with very little knowledge or attention from the staff. We ordered the ""baked"" brie that came with some microwaved bread.

2020-Enjoyed my experience here today. Although it's during this Covid-19 pandemic. Everyone did a great job with social distancing. I'm glad I was able to try a tasting of wine and spirits. I loved the seasonal Tropical Sangria! The view is definitely amazing.Updated 2022I'm sorry, the view has changed so much with the trees near the deck area.We went on Saturday and found easy parking. I've never had easy parking.I can see there's a difference just in the crowd.Yes there's umbrellas but it's just not the same. My photos before and after can prove the difference. We sat inside which I never knew existed until this weekend.(7/23/22)We stayed to listening to the band and left after a glass of wine. The vibe is definitely different 😌.Ice buckets are and extra charge($2.50). I'm not cheap but if I'm buying bottles the buckets could be complimentary. 🙄

We went here on a nice fall day for a snack and a bottle of wine. They have a nice setup that is easy to get along with. The people are friendly and efficient. They have a nice selection of their wines. I especially like their Nortons, which is kind of unique and I haven't seen it in other areas of the US. Supposedly the Norton grape was grown by Thomas Jefferson on his estate at Monticello, but I feel that may be a legend.I am disappointed that the trees on the deck are now gone. It does enhance the view, but on sunny days the lack of shade can be oppressive. There are umbrellas on some of the tables, but not enough to make us want to visit during the heat of the summer. Overall though, we love this winery.

Nice winery...very sad they deforestation the hillside of all the beautiful old trees Las month. It makes for an unobstructed view of the valley but it had a great valley view with the trees and the shade was wonderful.Without the canopy for shade you will roast on the deck under the summer sun this year.

Montelle Winery is actually the very first winery I have ever been too. I have to say I was very impressed and pleased with the service food music and view. The servers were on top of their game. The food was absolutely fantastic at the sunset dinner and they had the perfect wine to complete the dinner. The live music was wonderful to listen to while we dined.

We were in town for just a couple of days. People mention this winery to us. When we pulled onto the parking lot the view was outstanding, you can say the view takes your breath away. The wine we try was a 2018 Norton, It was smooth with very little aftertaste. We will be back.

One of my favorite wineries!! Their fruit wines are perfect for newbies but pass me the Reserve Norton!!I love that you currently get 5 tastings for $5 or $8 for access to the reserve products and you get to keep the glass! We had slushees today that were amazing! The view is something not like anything we’ve seen along the Augusta wine trail!Make sure that during the summertime you’re wearing deep woods bugs spray because ticks & chiggers are around!

Montelle Winery has a great variety of wines, wonderful service, and an absolutely beautiful view of the landscape with a very spacious seating area. As my wife said: "one of the best places to see a sunset". We've visited over 90/135+ Missouri Wineries and although all of them are unique (in their own way) none of them can even begin to boast about the marvelous views and accomodations that Montelle features. Thank you for a great visit! We will definitely be back!

The Montelle Winery is all about good fun, with gorgeous tree-lined vistas along the Augusta countryside. From food and music to the beautiful decks, the winery has an incredibly relaxing vibe and is our favorite in the entire region.

Montelle Winery was a great experience. The atmosphere was very pleasant and the sunset dinner was wonderful. The food was delicious, the service great, and the view like none other. The wines were very delicious and the variety was very nice! Overall, a great experience especially for a nice weekend getaway.

Update... We returned yesterday and the view was literally breathtaking on this beautiful spring evening. Sitting on the deck it felt like we were suspended out over the vast open hillside. While we're still sad about the removal of the tall old shade trees, I'm sure it'll be beautiful when they eventually plant a vineyard in its place. Even the grassy hillside is nice to see at the moment. They will definitely need a LOT of umbrellas for shade as the heat of summer approaches, but I wouldn't discourage anyone from missing this view. Remember your sunglasses and give it a visit soon.

This place is great, the gentleman behind the bar was knowledgeable and made our tasting very enjoyable. We bought a bottle to share and ordered food and sat on the patio. The view was fantastic, the wines are very good, and the food got the spot.

Good wines, especially the red Chambourcin botlled in the winery, I like it very much. The people had fun, there was a nice live music performance. Also, the trees are changing their colors.

First time here was almost 12 years ago for my 21st. Went back again this past weekend with a friend for her birthday (after another winery visit in the same area.) The view of the balcony is gorgeous! I love the wine sampling and 'souvenir' glass. I still have mine from all those years ago and have a new set to add. Was SO sad the dirty martini cheese wasn't a staple item that they still had these days. Nevertheless, we had a great time. (Photo cred for pic with wine glass goes to my friend Kristine!)

A beautiful place to spend a sunny fall day with friends. Knowledgeable staff for the most part and you can buy a bottle of wine and drink it right there!

Very nice winery with great views. The Dry Vignoles and the Norton were my favorite dry wines. We ordered the giant pretzel and 4 people were able to eat it. The Himmelswein served chilled was very refreshing on a hot day.

For the quality of the wine, food, and views, this is the best winery in the area. However, we didn't have a good experience there with service during our fall 2020 visit. There was one employee working the entire room (register for all food and drink as well as handling the tastings). He obviously couldn't keep up with the huge rush during a beautiful fall day. Management should hire more staff or not offer wine tastings. We purchased wine tasting and pizza at the counter and had plans to buy a bottle after the tasting to go with our lunch. The employee was swamped at the register and only got us 3 of our 5 tastings in the 45 minutes we waited for the pizza. The line was then too long to wait and pay for wine/drinks so we ate our food without any drinks and forfeited the rest of our tasting; we didn't want the pizzas to get cold. After lunch I went back to get a bottle of wine since that was the point of our trip. Another employee was finally helping. The original employee apologized for not warning us and said he was ready to finish our tasting whenever. At that point we would have preferred he comp our wine tasting instead. I got a bottle of wine to drink while enjoying the views and afternoon sun. While checking out I overheard that they were now only serving a limited menu and no more tastings until 2 pm after the rush was over. This sort of policy should have been in effect at noon when we were originally ordering our tastings! The employee was hard working, friendly, and knowledgeable, but management needs to either hire more staff or better manage their lunch rush during obviously busy days.

It was a scorcher over the weekend and no shade. We sure missed the trees that were cut down. Umbrellas would have been better than nothing.

$15 tasting features very small pours of very unremarkable wines. Also they recently cut down every tree on the hillside, so the place has the ambiance of a construction site. There is plenty of outdoor seating though, and the hillside has potential.Maybe check back in a couple years and see what their big plan for the area is?

A winery with spectacular views and wines. This is a self-service restaurant with a good wine-tasting experience. Food choices are very limited and the quality is below average and quite expensive. This winery could be 5-star experience if you aren’t there for the food. It’s nevertheless a romantic experience on a beautiful day, especially late spring or early fall right around sunset.

We didn't get a chance to visit Montelle last year. We were shocked at the lack of trees around the patio now. Who was the genius who made this decision? That was always the big reason we would choose Montelle over some of the other wineries in the area. I guess we'll go to other more shaded options moving forward. That's a real shame. It just doesn't look or feel the same. In the name of progress, you made it worse. Nice going, guys!
