The Starkville store is absolutely incredible. We were looking for a specific item and the store had sold out. The cashier enthusiastically said that the item was showing online for shipment. She made it easy and hassle free to get our daughters Christmas present. We absolutely shop this store as often as we can.

I love shopping Academy. They have a great selection and good prices on most everything. Starkville Academy is aiming the best I’ve shopped.I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because of Academy’s corporate stance on certain political issues. I have yet to understand why corporations have to have outspoken political stances. Why can’t they just do what they do best and, in this case, sell sporting and outdoor goods?

Went in there on Tuesday to purchase a box of .308 rounds and staff member told me they were sold out. I had noticed they were stacked behind another caliber and I pointed them out and he sold them to me. Note they weren’t not what I was looking for to hunt with but right now you take what you can get. But I leave the leave store and realize I had forgotten to purchase something else and return 10 minutes later and walk through the section where he is selling the ammo and low and behold there’s more.308s cartridges of another brand that were not out previously. I would have rather had those the first time. So is the store intentionally not putting all of what they have out or what.

My visit was fine but I only gave three stars because when my daughter tried to exchange a medium sized item we purchased prior to Christmas for a small size, the cashier charged her $6 or $7. I am extremely displeased with this act and even questioned store employees about the practice while o made some purchases last evening. I understand it is not store policy which is a relief; I hope you are able to curtail such acts in the future.

Nice place and clean, mostly friendlyIf you buy the encounter cell Camara and have to talk to customer service be prepared for a hour wait to talk anyone. Will not buy again. Bought new one and said someone else owned said Camara. Very poor customer service to keep you on the line for over a hour.

This store is a complete joke! I love academy at other locations, but the complete mismanagement of this branch is very evident. Just today, I purchased an item that apparently had been opened and returned with parts missing. Outside the store kayaks have been sitting in the sun delapidating. I feel as though the owner should focus more on finding quality management rather than highering cheap college labor with a lackadaisical attitude.

Went to buy an expensive knife, got to the checkout counter and the price rang up wrong. The cashier told me to take it back to the gun counter and figure it out, even though he had a radio on his shoulder. Not really a big deal but kinda ticked me off so I told him to keep it. My wife and I don’t go back here.

Inside the store was set up in blocks that were confusing to navigate. Outside, it was like a maze trying to just get to the store. All in all, found some good deals on some really nice clothing items.

Called before driving 2 hrs away and was told they had a item in stock low and behold when we get there the system still show it but they say it's out and can't find it. Poor service and poor inventory counts. Then they tried to sale me something I did not even want.

It's a pretty nice place. Just may need to call to make sure they have what ur looking for before u go. If they don't have it , they may order it for ya. But call, and make sure. I often have to do it before wasting a trip
