Every staff member I met when I went to adopt my puppy, Hemi (now Dekker), from here was kind and clearly cared about the animals at the shelter. Their adoption process, for better or for worse, is almost too easy and adoption fees nominal. They were also willing to hold the puppy I was interested in for me a few days until I was able to make it over there. Thank you for providing such great care for Hemi for over a month, from when he and his littermates were dropped off, until he was ready for adoption.

I adopted a lab from here 16 years ago and Jackson was a great dog! I recently lost a dog and decided to call here. They helped me adopt Harley and they were great and Harley is a great puppy. I ah him transported to Wisconsin where I live. Thanks to all of you down there!!

Great place to take your pets for vaccinations. The customer service was off the chain. I am well educated on the ahota for the pets very friendly. I loved the experience

I adopted a coonhound from here on June 30, 2020. He was so shy at first and a little skinny, but now he loves being around people and he’s starting to gain some weight. His name is Rosco and he’s the sweetest little boy in the world.

I did adopt a kitten but it was more about saving it than anything. All the cats had respitory problems ( which they told me) and were obviously in distress. They have no vet which is insane and I can only guess is because of budget. Frankly I think the animals in there would be better off in the wild. So sad.

What a wonderful facility! These ladies are such caring individuals. I adopted an adorable kitty and every step of the way, I received such helpful and positive communication. The center is immaculately clean and very organized. If you're looking for a new family member, even if you are from a different state like myself, you simply cannot do better than coming here. 5 bright stars for these awesome folks!

This is a great place! I spent the day here and worked with the staff and animals. I was so tired when I got home. (I have RA and just don't work that hard anymore) but I would love to go back and work with them 1 or 2 days a week..even half days. Their dedication to the animals is heart warming. Everyone was professional and friendly. The employees I worked with explained my duties in full and then left me to them. I felt every bit part of the team. They take excellent care of the animals and anyone looking to adopt should look there.

Love this shelter. We have two pets from them both cats. My mom has one of the little dogs I got here. Which when we moved left my mom alone so I let her have her for company. Very nice staff and sweet animals. It’s a $25 adoption fee. I would recommend them to anyone. :)

This place doesn't even deserve one star. I had brought a dog I found in b/c I couldn't keep him myself. He was there for FOUR days! When we went to get him back b/c we found him a home the dog was COVERED in his own pee and poop. Then they made me pay the $25 dollars to get him back. When I had not only called up there once but twice to make sure everything would be okay and they had told me it would only be $10 b/c of a special going on b/c it was September. So y'all please do not bring any animals up here for any reason they WILL NOT take care of them.

I tried to take a sweet dog in and they refused her. The lady behind the counter was very rude and rolled her eyes and continued to smack on her chips. And animal shelter is suppose to accept animals that have no where and that didn't seem like these people's number one goal. It seemed more like none of them wanted to take the time out and do a job.

They are great. Tho I had adopted a dog from them once and turned out to have kennel cough. Called them to let them know in case some other dogs might have it. Didn't seem to care

Every stray dog or cat I come in contact with, I always want to keep them all!!! So in order not to become an animal hoarder, I call DeSoto County animal control. I always hope and pray that people have lost their precious pets and I keep telling myself that the owner of this beautiful animal must be desperately looking for him/her. So, with mixed emotions, I drive them down to the Hernando shelter where they accept them with open arms and take care of them until their owners are found, or until they are adopted out to new owners. Love, love, love all of these people! Such a difficult and sometimes heartbreaking job they have.

This was a very clean and comfortable environment for us and the animals. I csn tell the staff loves animals and care about their well being. If you want a pet here is the place to find one. Adopt don't shop!

Agency accepted a stray dog found in my neigborhood efficiently (in and out in less than 5 mins). They welcomed the dog and offered her tons of "love." to the lost doggie.
