Not exactly sure what happened. I dropped a review last week and now it's gone. Anyway... I'm really amazed at the high ratings this place is getting. I know it has history and it's been on TV or something, but other than the chicken the food is terrible. And even the chicken isn't the best I've have. So not exactly sure what everybody is raving about. Yes, there was definitely a lot of options in the buffet. The ribs were just okay, not smoked or anything. Looks like they came out of the oven. The other meats I couldn't really tell what they were. The mac & cheese and coleslaw tasted spoiled. I took one bite of both and didn't finish the rest. The place had a very interesting atmosphere with business cards posted everywhere. Other than them making you wash your hands before you ate, the place seemed very dirty. For that price I would definitely not recommend going here.

I need to first provide a disclaimer - it was Easter Sunday and naturally, many places were closed. I chose it because it seemed quaint and interesting, which it was. I called ahead to confirm that they were open. They were closing the dining room early, but we could get take-out. Outside there’s not much to see, but we were able to park our RV. We were able to choose from MANY items on the hot table, and the portions in our take out boxes were very amply filled. Service wasn’t very friendly, but we got what we asked for. The food left a lot to be desired. The fried chicken that they are well known for was completely dried out as were the cornbread muffins which literally crumbled into tiny bits. The smothered chicken and pig’s feet were tasty and so were the sides. Maybe if it were another day, things would have been better.

This was my second visit to The Old Country Store with 5 years in between. As with any spot like this, you're coming for the venue and the food. The setting, building, and people are more than worth the stop. We were mid week lunch for this trip and traffic was light and Mr D wasn't there this trip. However, the people working were fantastic and the vibe remains great. The food - All of the food I had on both trips has been good. All seasoned well, the selections are very traditional and welcome. While everyone talks about the fried chicken, I enjoyed other items just as much (yams, cucumber and tomato salad, cornbread dressing, hocks and greens.)The Chicken - When fresh out, it is very good, almost like a cracker crumb crist, moist throughout and tasty. Pieces are also on the larger side than most spots. As with any buffet - traffic dictates turn. When we first arrived (wednesday lunch), the chicken hadn't been refreshed, was good and moist but lacked some crunch as you would expect. About mid way through lunch, they called fresh chicken and it's worth the wait.Would I drive out of my way for the food alone? probablyWould I for the overall within an hour of my route? yesParking: If you're in an RV or Trailering there were spots on either side of the road that provide a good amount of room.

The chicken was edible. The sides were disgusting. It all was totally gross, smelled bad, not fully hot or cold, and tasted sour. Probably leftover from yesterday it was so bad.My wife and I now have a joke that we will never go to a place that has been recommended by Food Network, it seems to go downhill quickly afterwards. Please don't eat here. I still get a gag reflex thinking about it.

I am a southerner and this is not what I expected. Born and raised, and this was not it. I found the food had no seasoning, taste like it was straight from the can. I couldn’t identify some items, and gravy was very greasy, Place was dirty and uncomfortable and to be honest it was the worst food I ever experienced in an establishment and cost was unbelievable. Tourist Trap for sure.

Fried chicken is the best. The rest is ok and the dessert cobblers are great. Mr. D. WILL sing to you! It has great atmosphere. A must see. And you will wash your hands before you can be seated. I loved it 😍 ❤️

My sisters and I visited this place on our way to Natchez, MS while on our second sister's trip. Our experience wasn’t a pleasant one! The food left a whole lot to be desired. The greens tasted as if they were put out straight from a can. No taste. The corn bread was overly crumbly. The dressing was dry- cranberry sauce was old. Actually, the only food that tasted good was the chicken and candied yams. Disappointing since the buffet was clearly overpriced for the quality of the meal.We were very dissatisfied with the bathroom facilities. They was plenty toilet paper, but the entire area had a nasty appearance and odor. We felt that the bathroom area wasn’t cleaned regularly enough. The commodes were very low to the floor and proved difficult for my older sisters who are in their late 70’s to rise up from. Mr. D sang for us, but wasn’t very receptive of our constructive concerns about the bathroom facilities. One sister almost fell when her shoes got stuck between some boards on the floor! Mr. D made it very clear that the floor wasn’t a concern of his!One of my sisters and I ordered dessert. My blackberry cobbler tasted horrible! We paid almost $5 for 1/2 cup of dessert that didn’t even taste good! All in all, it was a bad experience, and we left very disappointed and still hungry!Parking: There was no problem with parking.Wheelchair accessibility: The bathrooms were spacious, but no handrails to grasp to assist ascending.

We were greeted by the best hostess in all of the Mississippi Delta. She sat with us and drew some of the finest artwork around. I've been to fancy places all over the world and never have I been gifted artwork drawn as I ate some of the best chicken, potato salad and blackberry cobbler I've ever had -next to my grandfather's of course :)Thank you, Mr. D and ladies.

Great place to say you've been there. Chicken on the buffet is good (make sure you get the fresh pieces!), but I'd have to say not the best in the world, but still worth the visit, and Mr D. Can sang y'all!

My first time eating, I met my son there to give him something he wanted to try the food. So i said I am going to try it also I've heard so much about this place. I had fried chicken, cabbage, yams when I tell you I was sooo disappointed 😞 the cabbage tasted watery no season what so ever n the sweet potato my lordy it was Horrible Wasn't sweet, no flavor no candidate, no butter. It was not what I expected the fried chicken. The only thing that tasted good, what's the skinny? It could have been fraught a little longer.I was so disappointed eating from a country Soul food place. Never again for other people's. They might love it, but I did not.Sorry In the price was extremely hi.It's not for me Oh yeah I hate it apple cobbler It was not sweet but crust Was raw undone? The apples was crunchy undo and What happened to the Sugar I just can't do it no more first and last time sorry againParking: Lots of space to part in the front of the building free of no charge.

The ribs were perfectly smoked. The fried chicken was juicy. The cabbage had the best seasoning. This is a great stop on the way to the Windsor Ruins or Rodney! Old Country Store is Southern in the best way.

A buffett that feels like home cooking. Definitely some of the best eating I have had in a long time. Would advise anyone in the area to stop by for lunch. Great food and good people.

Good food with varying options. No complaints but would prefer the option of ordering from a menu vs buffet. That said, understood due to COVID-19 restrictions.

My family has never had a bad experience here before, but today was not good. The plates, silverware, and cups were dirty. Service was poor. It could be a one off, but I will not be coming back here when I'm visiting home again. The one positive I will say is that they ask you to wash your hands when you arrive and then sanitize them again before going to the buffet. This seems like a bit of a moot point though when dishes and silverware are not clean.

Mr. D. knows how to cook and his servers are great.I once drove 3 hours to get 50 pieces of chicken for a family reunion. It went first. Never a regret. I did call ahead for my order as I didn't want the people dining in to be shorted. It's my favorite place for a well rounded meal in Mississippi.
