We’re from the Jackson area and have recently had to make two trips to Tupelo. Both times we chose to stay in Houlka for the peace and quiet. This little grocery store is one of our favorite things about this town. It offers more selection than you could possibly expect for such a rural area, as well as smiling employees and good prices.

If you are fishing at Davis Lake at Tombigbee National Forrest / Park, this is your closest place for live bait. Worms, crickets, and limited selection of gear such as weights and hooks etc. However, don’t come looking for top customer service because you’ll be disappointed. My philosophy — Life is too short to be rude. Be kind to everyone, especially those who are downright rude to you. :-)

This is actually a little hole in wall place. I'll make special trips here. They do have a few difficult to finds items. Rita is a sweet girl, and is very friendly. She is also professional.

Very clean store with decent prices. The staff was very friendly and they had a decent variety. It's hard to find that in more rural areas when traveling, so it was nice to see. We stayed at Davis Lake Campground 10 minutes away and were so glad we went in.
