Over all disappointing. I went to donate $75+ of things last week. The workers couldn’t care less. I got tossed off to a worker who didn’t want to acknowledge me. The only decent person was a man back in the kennels who offered his help. It’s disappointing and frustrating. Those animals need someone who can vouch for them and give them their best chance to get a new home.

The people at the Columbus Humane Society are EXTREMELY rude!!! I will never ever again support the Columbus Humane Society and here is why. I was on my way back from visiting my older sister in Fayette AL and I was with my younger sister who lives in Caledonia. On my way back to drop my little sister home, we found a dog that was lactating near Spivey Road in Columbus Ms. It was past 11 at night, and the dog was alone at the side of the road so I assumed the dog had been dumped and picked it up. There were no puppies in sight. I decided to take the dog to the Humane Society, but I sent my little sister inside who is 15 and doesn't drive. Because the dog was lactating, they asked her where she got the dog from. It was late when we picked up the dog, and she didn't want to come back to the car and ask so she told them Alabama. They said they wouldn't take the dog after that. When she told me, I was irritated because she didn't ask for clarification before giving them an answer, so I went inside to clear things up. I told them that no the dog isn't from out of state, we found her near Spivey road. The humane society people proceeded to yell at me and claim that I was lying and that I needed to take the dog off and dump her back on the side of the road because I shouldn't have picked her up. I was so shocked at the way I was being treated that I started to record them, but the older lady went to the one who was yelling and told her I was recording them and she stopped. I am just in disbelief at how rude they were. I tried to explain that I was the adult and that they shouldn't listen to the minor who doesn't drive, but nope. I am shocked and never again will I recommend the Columbus Humane Society to anyone!

Very friendly employees who also care deeply for all the animals. All buildings very clean. Not one enclosure for dogs or cats were dirty. All our questions were answered with informative and experienced answers. Highly recommend if you are looking to adopt.

Was very pleased with my trip to Lownes humane society. Was very pleased with the cleanliness of the building and the kennel. Picking up a new dog next week.

Very well staffed. They have a place to walk the dogs and spend some time with them before adopting. The fees are well balanced to weed out bad pet parents but the value is incredible for what you get. (Shots, spay/ neuter etc). They really checked me out before letting me adopt. Im glad they do that

I am absolutely blown away at this animal shelter! The staff is friendly and they take excellent care of their animals. The facility was very clean and well spaced out and they even had a nice walking trail to walk their dogs. They are even careful about who they give their animals to rather than giving them away to just anyone. I definitely would recommend this place to anyone!

This is an amazing shelter. In my opinion it's the best in Northeast MS. I've been to a lot of shelters and this one by far is well kept. The staff is friendly and seems to generally care for the animal's well being. If your looking to adopt stop by and see them, sadly most all shelters are full all the time with animals waiting for a FUREVER home. Thanks to all the staff and CLHS!

Most well kept shelter I have ever been to. They truly care for the animals. The enclosures are in excellent condition and the animals seem happy. I made a connection with a dog today that I will most likely be coming back to adopt.

Went to sign our dog up for neutering & the lady opened the door for me & was very nice. I was also greeted by their older greeter dog who was a sweetie. Clean facility & very organized.

They really do want to find good homes for these dogs, and that INCLUDES MAKING SURE YOU DONT BRING IT BACK IN A WEEK BECAUSE YOUR APARTMENT DOESNT ALLOW PETS. They do a great job and I'm happy with the work they put in to make sure the dogs find FOREVER Homes. Irresponsible people rate it bad because they are petty and don't see the big picture. Please go see the humane society for your next pet!

The folks Columbus-Lowndes Humane Society truly go above and beyond. I contacted them about a stray we found near our house. We live about an hour away in Alabama, but this was the nearest place we could take him without him being out down because he was injured. I left a voicemail on a Sunday, but that evening we found a foster family willing to take him in. On Monday, when the Humane Society called back, they advised us on how to go about seeing if the poor pup had people missing him. The following day, even though she didn't have to, the same employee called back to ask me more questions. She'd noticed on Facebook that someone in my area was missing their furry friend and went out of her way to get in touch and see it was the same dog. Unfortunately it wasn't, but it was really impressed that a shelter with so much work to do still took the time to follow up, and that the wonderful employee remembered where I'd said we lived and cared enough to try to help reunite a family with their four-legged family member.

Had 3 kitties spayed/neutered here. They were nice to me and sweet to my kitties. It was much cheaper than going to a veterinary clinic and equally effective.

I applied to adopt a cat on Friday night. Then I called Karen and petsmart everyday to ask the process. Today they told me that cat was adopted by others. The only reason is that I didn't provide landlord number. So why not call me to ask landlord number directly? Why need my number on application? Actually, I provided landlord number to petsmart when we call them to ask the process. I did whatever I can do. I even bought food, treat for that cat. How disappointed I am!

They are rude. I sat in a cage for 45 mins with a dog i was going to adopt. They called my landlord and there for i was not aloud to adopt. This seems like a load of bullshit to me. Isnt it my responsibility for my house not the pound.

Couldnt adopt a cute little puppy because they called the vet and called the landlord. The landlord said NO. LAST TIME I CHECKED THAT WAS MY PROBLEM TO DEAL WITH. IM SUPRISED THEY DIDNT DO A CREDIT CHECK. ITS SAD THAT THEY WILL PROBABLY END UP EUTHANIZING IT RATHER THAN GIVE IT A CHANCE.
