If i could give this place zero stars I would. Proven she does get her dogs from puppy mills. Two or 3 dogs crammed in the smallest metal dog kennels they even sell. We went in there and have photos from our visit. Dead gerbil. 2 chinchillas crammed in a glass aquarium. Adopt dont shop folks. No idea how this woman has any good reviews unless she's paying for them. Heard enough, seen enough. She needs shut down.

This place is terrible and I'm done with it. Every time I can remember being in there the staff have been very rude. I visited a couple days ago and the only person on staff was a young girl who was too busy visiting with a friend to acknowledge my presence. Then after her friend left she went back to cleaning aquariums or something for a bit until finally asking if I needed anything. I told her I was looking for puppy shampoo and she asked how old my puppy was and then got snippy and started lecturing me that I should have never taken him away from his mother so young and asked if I had brought him home yet or not. As if I'm going to bring him back..... She then went on to reiterate that he was way too young and that they should be 8 weeks and the only thing you should use is labeled "puppy shampoo." I picked up a waterless shampoo product from their shelves and pointed out that the label states "for dogs 6 weeks and older" and she said no you can't use that it has to say puppy shampoo. I said huh.... ya think so? And she replies back very snotty "I know so actually" and turned around, walked away and went back to cleaning her aquariums. I walked out and won't be returning.

Went with my significant other to this shop a few weeks ago and we found the most adorable little puppy here that we both wanted to hold but the staff told us we could only hold the dog if we were interested in paying full price for it. We both left saddened and disheartened with our experience. Also the animals didn't seem to be feeling very well they seemed lonely and don't get taken out much.

I have went to this pet shop for many many years and workers and owner are kind and polite ! They take care of their animals very well . I’ve bought 8 dogs from there and they get feed and watered very good . The cages are not to small for 2 or 3 dogs they fit perfectly in them they have a lot of room to play and run around with each other . The cages are always clean for all the animals . The puppy’s are not from puppy mills very happy about it . The birds , fish, reptiles are taken care And treated good also. I recommend going to this place I’m going to keep going in there it’s the best place I’ll never get my stuff from any other place aka like Walmart because the fish die right away that’s why their so cheap at Walmart. I don’t know why you guys think it’s a bad place it’s the most wonderful place to go in and shop some of you just Right a review and lie about it . It’s very clean in the pet store she is always caring and loving towards the animals , she has never once said “Shut Up” to the dogs . She is very helpful and comes to Ask If we need help finding anything or have a question . The dogs get out a lot to play and run around Ive Seen It . I understand why you have to hold the reptiles in the cage like the rats so they don’t jump out of your hand and run around the pet store trying to find them and they don’t even have a 20 gallon tank or 17 rats in one cage they have a 10 gallon tank and only has about 5 or less rats in it . The reason why y’all need to understand why you can’t hold the dogs unless your interested in buying is because they don’t want the dogs to get sick they don’t know where your hands have been they want them healthy when you buy them not sick so understand and not get mad about it. 100% they are the best place ever!

I love this place. I had and issue with my animals and I went in and asked for help and they told me every possibility that could be wrong with the animal. The women also let me know that the puppies are from an AKC registered breeder. Yes, they are crammed in kennels but so are all other puppies at rescue centers and other puppy places. They do take care of them, I've seen it. It depends on the person you get when you walk in, I've seen them all and most are very caring, some may not be. They also don't try to take your money, she sold me the stuff I needed then told me to go to Goodwill and buy something cheaper to hold the item up, and obviously if I couldn't to come back and she could order it for me. I really do recommend this place.

Polite staff, bought the cutest puppy who was vaccinated and dewormed. Took him to the vet just for a checkup and he was healthy as can be! Plus helped us also find a moving container for my beta fish(also from the store). Thank you to the wonderful staff!***PUPPIES DO NOT COME FROM PUPPY MILLS****

I live in the Willmar area, and I can attest that the other people reviewing are absolutely correct. I bought my second cat from them, and we ended up giving him antibiotics right away because he was sick. I went in there recently and asked for a few different items that I was looking for. They didn't have any of them, and the owner was very rude. She basically ignored us and seemed annoyed that we would even dare ask a question. I've taken to ordering everything I need from Amazon or purchasing supplies from our local vet. The Bluebird Pet Shop may have gotten a remodel in recent years, but the way they treat their animals and customers hasn't changed a bit.

You would have no idea how well these animals are cared for unless if you have worked at this pet shop! These animals are very well cared for and are given so much love! We take them out of their cages at RESPONSIBLE times (multiple times) during the day when customers aren't in the store to avoid stealing and possible harm to the pets! When I worked here we worked hard, long hours to give them the care and LOVE that they need! For people to say they are not cared for is UNACCEPTABLE! We have multiple inspections and we ALWAYS pass, do not judge what you are not certain of! For those who know this, your business is GREATLY appreciated!

The store stunk so bad just walking in the door. There was a cockatiel with a battered tail and all the birds were unsocislized and wanted to bite anything that came near the cages. There were 17 rats in a 20 gallon tank, NOT BIG ENOUGH for that many rats. There were two puppies to a small crate. One had three. The puppies wanted out and were crying. Not to mention the crates were dirty. I asked to hold one of the very unsocialized rats and got told to hold it in the cage (so not bonding would be possible) there was a bearded dragon that was not even close enough to the age to be there and was being house with a sick looking leapord gecko. I was so very unimpressed with this store. People put good reviews and I don't know why because this was the worst pet shop I have ever been in.

The owner is extremely rude! The dogs are cramped into very small kennels that they have to share. The pricing on the dogs is exuberant in my opinion. Really cannot convey how rude the owner is. The only time she seems intrested in anybody is if you're laying money down on the counter. I would suggest getting a dog from a breeder or the humane societee! I think that the way that she keeps they animals Is very inhumane

The lady who works here has been here for as long as I can remember. As I kid I loved to stop by and pet the puppies, but only when the cranky old lady wasnt there I could. She is so short tempered and rude I have no idea how she’s still in business. I remember thinking to myself when I was younger, when will this witch die already. Honestly I rather drive to Minneapolis to buy a puppy who we can actually interact with, without a rude lady telling us to buy it or we can’t pet it. I was so sad when the other pet store closed down because those were the only puppies we could pet in willmar! Thank the lord we’re getting a petsmart, at least they try to help you when you need it.

The first time I went there, I got a hamster, Marshmallow, who was very sweet and loving. However, he passed away within the two months I had him at home. He had gotten wet-tail. The second time I had gone there, I got my hamsters Oreo and Ginger. I asked what food they fed them and the storekeeper or employee threw a bag of highly unrecommended hamster food. I went a long with it and bought it. I also had asked her "Are they the same gender?" to her reply she said, "I do believe so." But they turned out to be different so I ended up with an unwanted amount of hamsters. Most babies passed away (because they were seriously weak) but the others were brought to good homes. One I kept Mango, who recently passed due to lack of care when I asked my father to watch over him for the weekend. I forgave him and made him buy me a rat... Ginger became constipated and Oreo died for a unknown reason. After about 3 months of no hamsters (except for Mango) I had gone to Black Dog (I rate them 5 stars they are WAYYY BETTER than BBPS) and got a rat Dapper. I went to Black dog 3 months after I had had Daps and they were closed. So I went to Blue and the lady there was kind and very nice to me. I picked out a rat and she let me grab him, Nelson, and I held him then put him in the good sized box. I put my hand in to pet the other rats and then I wished them good luck to finding a new home. I will most likely go there soon and adopt them because I love my rats :) I liked the lady there. I liked her way more then the lady from when I got Oreo and Ginger. If I worked there though, I'd still teach the workers there a lesson. HOW TO PROPERLY TAKE CARE OF HAMSTERS, RATS, BIRDS, FISH, SNAKES, TURTLES, GPS, PUPPIES AND MORE.

It is fun to go and browse and check out the adorable puppies, if you can stand the rude owner. Every time I go in there I see reptiles in very poor shape. At the moment there are two leopard geckos on the verge of death in there. I can't believe she can treat them that poorly, much less SELL a sick animal like that! They are severly underweight and may have MBD- (a bone disorder from the lack of calcium that they need.) And they are on sand which is for looks and a huge no no! It is nice to have a pet store to go browse in, but most the time I leave the store sad for the animals. :(

Bought an amazing dog from this place. He is absolutely loveable, likes to cuddle, and is definitely one of the family. While so much is over priced at the store, I dont blame them if you want to get excellent advice as well as quality product. Any other reviews that are negative on here are the following.- Animal Rights Activists (the adopt dont buy option) by them saying to adopt and dont buy they are saying that all animals dont deserve a home to be loved. It should not matter if you adopt or buy. All animald deserve the same rights and chance as well as love and affection.- Next...people complain about not being able to hold animals. Keep in mind. People bring germs and other diseases. If everyone held the animals, they could catch something. If you are not there to buy either...then you are also wasting the staffs time to help those who truly are there for something and are providing them business. Do you honestly think that if are not going to buy or pay for something because you are too cheap or broke that its going to keep the pet store in business? They are not a multi billion dollar company like walmart. So get over yourselves for leaving negative reviews cause you cant manage your money or get a job.- Next...while some people complain and say they have no idea what they are talking about at the store. For example: Two fishes should be fine together and you take them home and one kills the other and blame the store...then you are wrong. They do their research and had no problem at the stores...you cant expect them to know what kind of setup is at your home and what fishes you will mix etc... That should be the customers responsibility. Do your research first if you are serious about having fish. There are plenty of fish experts on YouTube who give advice, training, explanations, etc...watch some videos and stop making excuses. The only person to blame is yourself.All in all...Stop leaving pointless negative reviews for stupid reasons. Over half of the negative reviews you read on here are hateful people who just didnt get what they want or have it their way. So they come here and take it out on people who are trying to respectfully run a business, who know their stuff, and would greatly help those who are there to conduct actual business.Thank you to the staff of Blue Bird Pet Shop for sticking around and providing awesome service and dont take these negative comments seriously cause they dont think before they speak, dont know how to be respectful, and clearly are not mature for their age.Note: I do not have any close connections at Blue Bird nor do I work there, for anyone who thinks otherwise get a life. I am just a normal customer who knows a good place when I see it.

I got two fish from here and the lady was helpful but she said that the fish would be fine together in the same tank. It took the larger all of 12 hours to catch and eat the smaller. She obviously was just trying to sell some fish and didn't know what she was talking about/lied.

My husband and I when looking for a puppy and they didn't have any on hand. When we asked them questions about which would be best for our needs they wouldn't give us the time of day. In fact they down right ignore us. Very rude!As to when we first walk in we didn't know who worked there because of the way they were dressed both of them had on dirty sweat pants and dirty hair. We figure they were customers.

Amazing people!!!! They helped us so much when we got are iguana... They are also very patient when we called so many times with questions.. we could tell are iguana had been handled because he was very calm when we first got him and still is very good even with three toddlers around!!!!!

This place was atrocious. I always love to check out little family-owned, small town pet stores, and I've never seen one this bad. It's tiny and cramped, and all of the animals were stuck in too-small cages without any stimulation whatsoever. And no UVA/UVB lights over any of the reptiles. Puppies were in tiny rabbit cages, chinchilla was in an aquarium with nothing but recycled newspaper. 20+ rats in a 20L aquarium. Horrible.

They don't carry certain items & then say that they'll order it & get it on a certain day, which is false. We waited for weeks but had to give up on buying the item we needed here & ended up buying it from PetSmart in St. Cloud. Also, this store isn't open during the business hours that they claim on their door & online. My husband tried to come here after work on Friday, which was only 6 PM, but they were already closed. Their hours of operation say open until 8 PM Fridays. I hear a PetSmart is coming to Willmar. Thank God! We can get what we need when we need it.

Awkward momentA few months ago, I got rid of some guinea pigs because we had too many. I went in there and found one of the 15 babies we got rid of at a humane shelter. I hadn't seen it in 4 months. If you don't know what it's like, imagine seeing your ex at a bar 8 years after breaking up. It's shocking and awkward, but you're happy in an odd way.

i agree - the girl there is very rude. She yelled at the poor puppies to "shut up" for barking when someone walked in and they were "so annoying", they looked so excited to leave lol. she didnt ask if we needed help so we just had to look for stuff on our own. i was going to buy a fish (wayyy overpriced) like 30$ for 1 and she snapped at me for even asking how much it was. i found the same blue fish at Walmart for 6$ and bought it from there.

Anytime I have ever needed advice for one of my pets I have always found my answer by stopping in and asking an employee. Ive needed flying squirrel food...they ordered it for me..if I've needed anything they've pointed me in the right direction. My pets get the best from Bluebird Pet Shop. Highly recommended.

Everyone there is rude. There's a young gal who works there that can be just nasty. I needed a product that I bought there before but couldn't remember the exact variety. I described it to her. She got really rude and made nasty comments. Unfortunately this is the only pet store in Willmar. That's the only reason I continue to go there.

Puppies are crammed into tight cages with no water or food and one puppy had a hernia. The owner said the buyer of the pup has to get it fixed. They won't pay for it. They get their pups from a puppy mill here in MN that has numerous violations on file. This has to stop.

Owner is rude as hell and does not take good care of the dogs. Ive been in there many times and she is craby everytime. The only reason i would buy a dog there is to get the poor thing out of that hell hole.

I called to ask a few questions and see how late they would be open as I had to drive an hour to get there.The lady working was very short with me and said they were open until five. I arrived at 4 to find a sign on the door saying they closed at 3. So glad I called....

Every single time I have been in this store, the staff has been rude and not helpful whatsoever. I have spent too much money at this place to be treated so poorly. I don't plan on returning ever again.
