Super fun museum to take the kids to. They had a play room in “Grandma’s Attic” and several neat props from the Tv series. I enjoyed having period items placed through the museum. We spent over an hour at the museum. The gift shop had several neat items. I picked up a locally made Christmas ornament, a shirt, and candy for the kids.

A cute museum with prairie-era memorabilia as well as from the TV series. Would be a wonderful place to bring children after reading them Laura Ingall Wilder's books. If you drive out of town to see the Wilder's Dug out home, you'll see the depression in the ground where their home once stood, not the actual home. Be prepared to use your imagination! Beautiful restored prairie at the dug out site. Cost is $7 per car.

Cute place to tour for us and our kids after reading the books. It seemed to be geared more toward adults, but our kids still really enjoyed it.Afterwards you can go across the street to Nellie's Cafe for a small town diner. Bring cash or plan on walking to the ATM. The staff was very friendly.

This was a great place to visit. The Museum has actual history worth exploring. The show memorabilia was impressive. The buildings were lots of fun. The staff in the gift shop were so engaging. Unlike the other place in a nearby site, this has the stuff you will be happy you visited.

If you go there in hopes of seeing everything that you saw on the TV show you will be a little bit disappointed However as most people know the TV show is just Hollywood's version of "" little house on the prairie This museum shows you the truth to life people and you can learn about them and their experiences There are also other exhibits to see as well

I grew up watching the TV show, so visiting the real Walnut Grove was nice. Very small town but worth the history to visit the town of a famous author from the early 20th century.

Lots of books. Not a lot of "stuff". There is what appears to be a 1/2 replica of the TV Ingalls' house built next to museum. It's a cute photo op.

It was very interesting. A lot of history regarding the family. The employees were very friendly.A great family experience. It would have been nice to have more details about the 1903 fire that swept through the town. There was no outside information available, unless you wanted to purchase a book.

Absolutley stunning. The staff is excellent and everyone wants you to touch and experience the things Laura did. Run barefoot on the prairie. Make a corncob doll and drive the covered wagon to the school house. Living history for everyone to enjoy. See the sunrise on the prairie and dress up for school. Worth the stay overnight to experience the sunset and sunrise. Very clean and bathroom facilities include hot showers.

For those who love Little House On the Prairie it will be the best stop ever. This is a Museum with actual things from Lauras life here and from the actual show. There is a small fee to go in the museum area. Go in the shop to see what they have to buy related to the show and Lauras life. Pay there to go in the back too. They have the actual school house. Is the red building. Everything is from the time the ingalls girls went there and a few more things from the show. From ma's fire place to Mr. Edwards clothing on the show. You can buy original copies of the actual books they used in the school house. There is other areas that show you how everything looked and how people lived when Laura was a child. The dugout is a mile away down the road. Just ask for directions. There is small fee to go there too as the dugout is on private property but is definitely awesome if you love Lauras books. This area is mostly popular in her book "by the banks of plum creek" so is like living it. I do recommend it! This book lover approves this awesome place. It was my childhood dream to visit and now I seen it all. Enjoy and dream as much as Laura did. 😍

My family loved it. I had been here many years ago, but after my 8 year old son read the Little House books we had to take him. The drive from Topeka to here was worth it. He learned so much. Knowledgeable helpful staff. Great gift store. Must were masks right now due to covid. A must stop place!

This was actually more fun and interesting than I had expected! I think the best part was hearing my daughters come to realize that Little House On the Prairie was actually based on true stories! The museum has some interesting things to see. One of my favorites was the sod house. This is definitely worth the stop!!

Just okay...we went quite a bit out of the way to see this and was disappointed by how little there was that directly about her and the little house show. The museum had a good bit about her to read and look at but the buildings were less interesting. If you are nearby, sure, check it out. Don't make a day trip.I have a hunch that the LIW event in July might be pretty good???
