The larger upper condos are much nicer than the bottom ones. The bottom ones are for a couple but there is a number of stairs, don't get natural light and not aesthetically nice. The larger family size upper condos are really nice and has everything you need for a long stay.If you're a couple, I'd consider some place else that provides more value

My husband and I stayed Wed thru Sat (buy 2 nights and get 1 free). We just wanted some down time after the holidays to relax, read a book, and do a puzzle. Keep in mind, we are also very frugal so we always shop for a deal at a place where we can prepare some of our own meals. This room had everything we needed for our little escape including a wet bar microwave and fridge, large whirlpool tub for 2, fireplace, and king bed. With a little rearranging, we had some nice space in the corner to set up a card table where we could look out at the lake and work on a puzzle. Thoroughly enjoyed several soaks in the bath with the bath crystals the resort provided. The room could have been a little cleaner (chunks of something in the corner where it had not been vacuumed, lots of food/other debris under chair cushion and snapshot left by a previous guest along the edge of the bed) but otherwise everything was very nice and well prepared. The only real glitch was the fireplace "thermistor"' needed to be replaced and we had a real struggle getting the fireplace started. However, maintenance was quick to respond and we agreed to hold off replacing the part until after our stay as long as we were able to get it started with a bit of work. Overall, we would definitely stay again, as long as there's a good deal of course 😁.

Very nice place, clean, quiet and comfortable. The room is very spacious and the wet bar has a full selection of silverware, cups, and plates (2 of each). It also has a coffee maker and a small fridge. I missed a toaster, though. We picked the superior suite, which was great size for a couple. Our experience bringing our dog to this hotel was great, many places to walk the dog.I wished the TV was a bit larger for the size of the room, I think it's a 55" TV.From a logistics standpoint, there's 2 electric car chargers on the site. Also a gas station 1 min away. And a general store a little bit further, maybe 2-3 mins north.

Very relaxing environment and comfortable accommodations! The resort enables a feeling of seclusion while offering amazing views of Lake Superior. Our room and the facilities were very clean, which was great since housekeeping was only available upon request. Our room only had a mini fridge, which wasn't enough considering the length of our stay and the limited number of local restaurants. And our batroom (which boasted about double shower heads) wasn't designed well enough to accommodate 2 shower heads, so don't get too excited about that feature, but otherwise it was a great setup. Perfect place to escape to when you need some R&R.

Nice facility, but horrible service. We stayed in one of their newer Surfside units, a couple of miles South of the main lodge. No complaints about the facilities. They were modern, spacious, very clean and comfortable, although the bedding was so-so (small pillows, thin blankets). The big frustration we had was with the service. The check-in / check-out process was way too slow, especially since the reservation had been made months in advance and they had our credit card # on file. Getting a human on the phone took an inordinate amount of time. Their concierge service, which they brag about in their promotional material, was of zero help to us. We wanted to go for a boat ride, maybe a little fishing expedition, but their staff was incapable of providing that service in-house. We thought we would make their job easier by showing some flexibility, and told them that any charter service from Duluth all the way to Grand Portage, a whopping 150 miles of shoreline, would do, cost be damned. But that too was evidently expecting too much from that incompetent staff. Nobody bothered to even call us back. All in all, a big disappointment... And it wasn't exactly a bargain, at almost $1,200 for 3 nights, an amount they tried to make us pay the minute we checked in, by the way. Bluefin Bay is a great facility at a beautiful location, but their staff is some of the worst in the hospitality industry.

Was not what we hoped. We stayed at blue fin bay prior and loved it. At Surfside, we got the last room. Four nights for the price of three. It was bad enough that we left early. We arrived and the room was still what I consider dirty. It had popcorn on the floor and beer bottle caps on the deck with multiple chairs , minimal dishes (asked for more dishes, got them some were not unclean) . The worst thing is there was blood on the comforter. Made my wife extremely happy. There is more but by the third day just wanted out. At checkout the managing crew didn't bother to ask why we were leaving our free day. You would think they would ask how my stay was... I won't be back. On the good note the view was great. 1 out of 5.

Our 3 night stay here was amazing. We stayed in a master suite. We got beautiful views right off the lake and the trails left you wanting to see more. It was a perfect location for our 10 years anniversary, but we will be coming back with the family.

Our view from our patio was stunning. Rooms are immaculately clean and very cozy. Only issue was our door keys kept not working and locking us out. Guest services was very helpful though. Free movie rentals is a plus!

My husband and I came for our mini honey moon. We got married the day before arriving and checked in at 4pm, which is check in time. Our room, which was a suite, looked very lovely. After a night of dancing we decided to hit the jacuzzi bathtub in the room, which was nice and relaxing until a staff member entered our room WITHOUT knocking at 5pm. They never said why they were there but they wouldn’t close the door until we were yelling at them to do so. They never told us why they were there until they stood outside for awhile. Turns out, they were delivering flowers and chocolate covered strawberries which were supposed to be in the room before our arrival. We were so on edge the whole evening it was hard to relax. It’s very disappointing considering a resort rule is that staff aren’t supposed to disturb guests.

I would give 6 stars if it was possible. This place is a bit of paradise on earth. Not only the views are amazing, but the interior design and set up of the apartment is flawless. We decided to spend our anniversary here and we couldn't chose a better place. They surprised us with special complimentary stuff and our experience was really special. From bikes and hiking gear for free, this hotel has a whole infrastructure to support you on your stay in the lake superior. The staff will do everything to make your stay unforgettable.

Loved this place. It was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was fully stocked of everything we needed to cook up meals for our family reunion. Best of all, the resort offers loads of activities free to guests. We enjoyed guided kayaking, a canoe trip and a winery tour, but they also have hiking trips and bikes, not to mention nightly campfires with somoresWill definitely be back.

Great views of the lake, nice indoor pool and hot tub up front near the spa & fitness center, and rooms were fantastic. Very cozy with the gas fireplace and plush robes for the jacuzzi tub. Great place to relax after a full day of skiing!

We just returned home from our trip to Surfside/Bluefin Bay and we are already talking about when we can go back! My husband and I have been going there since we were dating, more than 14 years ago are enjoying creating new memories together as a family. The amenities are great! They have truly thought of everything to help make the stay enjoyable. My husband and I enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub while the kids swam in the pool. We played tennis/ pickleball as a family, rented movies, books and games, roasted marshmallows and made s'mores (all of which are provided by the resort). They also have bikes for the family and kayaks you can rent as part of your stay. The north shore is so beautiful! We went on several hikes and rode the gondola up to Lutsen. We went to the Waves of Superior Spa at surfside for relaxing massages and I had a fabulous facial with as lady named Trish. The condos are modern and spacious, yet cozy. We enjoyed the view of Lake Superior from our balcony every morning as we enjoyed our coffee/breakfast.I'm telling you, if you go once-you'll be back! We met family who was there for a wedding. They have been going since their daughters were little. Their eldest was getting married last weekend and she wanted to have the wedding up at Bluefin/Surfside because of the wonderful memories their family has made there over the years.Oh, and before I forget, you have to check out Bluefin Grille! The food is fantastic! My husband said it was one of the best steaks he has ever had and I can honestly say the same about the walleye and wild rice dinner. The kids both had the crispy chicken sandwich and have said that they wished we had those somewhere here in the Cities. Also, their cheese curds were some of the best we've had- I'm talking state fair good! I'm thankful we discovered their cheese curds on the last night or I'm afraid we would've packed on more than a few extra lbs during our week-long stay.Love this place! We missed the outdoor pool/hot tub overlooking Lake Superior, which you will have if you stay at Bluefin, but we loved the modern condos and everything else about Surfside. This was the most relaxing trip we have taken in years. The staff is so helpful and will go out of their way to make you feel right at home.Check it out! You'll be so glad you did.

Great resort the views off the deck or out of the huge windows are breath taking. The pool area is nice and clean. We stayed in a 2 bedroom. It was very nice. They build a fire in the fire pit each evening so you can make Smores.

The most beautiful resort I have ever been to. Town homes to rent right on lake Superior. The rental has everything you would need. They have so many lay outs I recommend getting info directly from the resort. They have a full spa, pool, exercise equipment and restaurants. They have a campfire with Smores every night unless a storm prevents it. We were there for my Brothers wedding. 12 of us in all, none could complain about anything. Imagine walking out on one of many decks per home with a hot cup of coffee to a sunrise over Lake Superior with waves hitting the shore. The staff was exceptional and took care of any request immediately. There were guests there from other countries to. I can't say enough about it. You will love it.

Awesome room and awesome view. Customer service was beyond great. It doesn't really seem fair... but I took off a star due to the layout of the resort. It would have been a long outside walk to and from the pool and exercise equipment... and at -14 outside that wasn't going to happen.

It was catered for a wedding. I had a really great time there. They have a bar and a really good steak option. They also had a DJ there as well. Furthermore the open atmosphere and clear view of the lake really add to the charm. I would suggest it for anyone looking for a smaller venue and wish to be right next to the lake.

The views are great, the room is nice, the service from everyday employees was great! Major draw back is you must drive everywhere! This resort is not yet complete (still under construction more to come on that) and has only a few amenities available so you must go to the other bluefin resort for most activities and meals. Yes it is only a mile away but on a busy highway and walking at night it is dangerous and not recommended. The kayaking tour was great, very friendly guide, all the staff for meals and lounging were great as well. Only one problem with the room, it was a romantic room for two complete with two chairs to sit in and that was it. So either a bed or a chair and no table space so eating in the room is difficult and lounging by the fireplace is not possible. The Management is another story. So the resort is new and under construction, totally understandable. However we were never notified of this so 8am first morning there was a bit of a rude awakening as all our windows were wide open and the construction crew was 4 feet from our patio! Our entire room completely visible. We figured we were going to be gone most of the day anyway and they probably didn't have much to do there so just left and they were gone by the time we got home. The next day however they were using heavy machinery, a bobcat and back hoe! Making enjoying the room at all impossible, much less the patio right next to it. Now we complained. They had other rooms available but somehow it was an oversight to not book the room next to construction! It was our last night so we elected to stay, and asked if the machinery could wait until we left... it apparently could not. We were supposed to get a call from the manager that day about an apology and maybe some compensation. That never happened. At check out we asked again, and after waiting 30 minutes for a manager that would not talk to us they gave us a gift card and a brush off. You would think after the amount of money we spent at this resort they could spend at least 5 minutes addressing concerns of their customers and think about giving us more back than what we spent at lunch the day before. So great views just make sure to ask any questions about the room you can think of even if not necessary, and pray you never have to talk with a manager, because you won't.

Modern architecture and beautiful interior designing. Some of the best views of lake superior can be seen off the rear patio. The close proximity to numerous activities and hiking trails made it a fun get away. In the winter we went to go snowshoeing as well as make the short trip to Lutsen ski resort (about 15 minutes away). Staff is very friendly and the amenities are excellent.

Went here during the winter and it was amazing!!! Free cross country ski rentals and ice skate rentals, yes the have their own skating rinks. They had fires every night and the staff was amazing. To top it off the rentals were absolutely top notch.
