The location of Sea Villas truly cannot be beat - the views from every single unit are unreal! The decor is old and tired, they could use a facelift overall - the beds are not comfortable and these are not huge - but I still love the vibe and quaintness of the villas and resort. The unit we stayed in this last time was not what we expected but the resort made it right - their customer service is on point. We have stayed at almost all the odyssey resort locations on the north shore and they generally do not disappoint. The spaces are always clean and the staff are always friendly! I know we will be back - either to sea villas or another resort in the odyssey family in the near future!

We have been coming to the North Shore for over 30 years. We stayed in unit E3 which is just steps from Lake Superior. There are gorgeous views of the lake from every window. We love to hear the waves crashing against the rocks and watch the beautiful sunrises each morning. Every day, we would walk the 1/2 mile of picturesque shoreline and meander through the tranquil, woodland trails on the property. It's also close to many other walking and biking trails. Our Sea Villa was nicely updated and gives off a cozy lake cottage vibe. We love coming here every year to relax, rejuvenate and just be in our happy place.Nearby activities: The Lutsen Sea Villas are close to many beautiful rivers and water falls, including the Cascade River, Temperance River and Poplar River. The Superior Hiking Trail and the Gitchi-Gami Bike trail are steps away. Lutsen ski hill and golf course are right down the street.

Lovely 2 night stay at the Sea Villas while skiing at Lusten Mountain a short drive away. Coordinated a late check-in with the front desk easily. Bathroom nicely updated, and the unit had a wood burning fireplace with fresh wood and instructions! Relaxing view of the water from the living room. Parking was free/easy. There were plenty of dishes and cookware for group dinner in the evening. We also made use of the communal hot tub and pool after a long day in the cold. It was clean and there are changing rooms available.Great off-site option for those planning to ski Lutsen Mountain!

Very clean and idyllic! My villa was well stocked with everything that I could need for my trip. I loved the unique decor and the views of lake Superior were breathtaking. My kids enjoyed exploring the shoreline and being minutes from Lutsen Mountain. It's hard to find great accommodations that are pet friendly, and I would definitely come back.

We completely enjoyed our 2 night stay. The condo vibe is so cozy and relaxed. Our unit had a nice updated kitchen and bathroom. We really loved the wood burning stove. We had plenty of wood, kindling, and fire starters. The right out our door majestic Lake Superior did not disappoint! With gales wind warning, the waves and howling wind were captivating! It was nice to walk the lakeside trail and catch a freighter in the distance, moving by at full speed ahead! The staff were helpful, too. Bring your swimsuit to enjoy the nice pool area.

We stayed in a 1 bedroom Villa (I-5) and it was spectacular. You could tell the bathroom and kitchen area had been recently redone with nice tile and marble- very sleek and clean! The unit was spotless when we arrived, check in was very easy and took less than 2 minutes which is nice when you've been travelling all day with kids. The loft beds for the kids were comfy- my husband even slept up there with them since there were 3 beds and said he slept great! I will say the ladder was a tad steep and our 3 &5 yr olds were able to do it, but we didn't feel comfortable leaving them alone in case they needed to get down in the middle of the night- thus my husband stayed up there. I would say in the next year or two though they kids would be fine along in the loft. the main bedroom was cozy as well and had space for our pack n play for our toddler. The sounds of the waves on the rocks was very peaceful. We loved loved the location and ambiance. We used the pool/hot tub/splash pad multiple times during our stay and we were impressed with the clean locker rooms to change before going back to our unit since it was chilly outside. Overall we had a wonderful stay and will be back for sure!

Where to start. First the location on the water is wonderful. But I can't get passed the shabbiness of the 'villas'. We were here 7 years ago, and the interiors were showing wear then. It appears no money or interior maintenance/update has been done at all; apparently the resort was sold to Odessey a couple of years ago. i.e. the couch is old and the bottom is sagging on the floor; the awful old carpet with spots makes you want to wear shoes all the time. The cabinets are old and look grimey. On the deck was a dead rotting bird left for us to find. My husband had to clean up the deck himself. Can I overestimate the number of flies both in and outside the cabin? No air condtioning which I understand, but in trying to open our bedroom window at night, the screen had a large hole; so nope, couldn't do that with the bugs. Bottom line: this is not a luxury resort; its interiors are rustic and badly in need of updating. Just be aware when making reservations that your expectations are realistic.

We had a wonderful experience staying at unit E3, which is the closest unit to Lake Superior. We were literally a few feet away from the crashing waves. It's a beautiful two bedroom villa with very modern updates and lovely Up North artwork. We really enjoyed our stay and the location was perfect.

A pleasant experience in J1. Excellent customer service, very friendly front desk. Unit was ready on arrival. Pet friendly, which is so convenient and hard to find for a Great Pyrenees dog which weighs 100+ pounds! So close to the water, peaceful and quiet during our stay. Unit nestled along trees on one side, more private than others. Beds comfortable, kiddo loved the loft area. Recently updated bathroom and kitchen, clean shower with good pressure and temperature. Everything we needed for a lovely family vacation. Would suggest removing old carpet and replacing living room furniture.

We had a wonderful time while staying with friends who own a condo here. My one complaint was the front desk staff. We were at the lodge and the desk was left unattended for 2 hours with a note simply stating they would be back shortly. There was merchandise for sale on a rack in the lobby that we wanted to purchase, but there was only one size of each sweatshirt. We waited 15 min, then came back another 20 min later. No one. We tried calling the front desk hoping it would roll to a cell. Nothing. We eventually each took a sweatshirt as there was only one of each size and left a number asking them to call. Over an hour later no phone call, so we stopped BACK. Gal was there, and we said we were here to pay for the merchandise. "I noticed things were missing. In the future, don't take our merchandise without paying for it." It was insulting given how many times we TRIED. It would be a good idea to leave a time for guests letting them know when you will return.

Location location location!! You cannot beat the location of the Sea Villas. In the summer, sit outside on the spacious deck to watch the lake or have a fire in one of the many outdoor fire rings. In the winter, after a long ski day, cozy up to the wood burning fire and watch the waves of Lake Superior roar. We’ve been staying at the Sea Villas for 15 years and it is our go-to place on the North Shore. It’s close the the ski hill and numerous state parks, waterfalls, and walking trails.Unit J-5 is outstanding and is a perfect fit for our family of 5. The kids love sleeping in the loft. The kitchen is updated and well stocked with cooking essentials. The shower was recently updated to a very nice walk in.

Great location. I'm in sea villas A1 and the lake is 40 feet from the big porch this unit has. Incredible views of the lake from almost every room. We had 8 people here, it was a little tight but the weather was nice enough that we didn't all have to be inside all the time. Fire ring by the beach and an always replenished supply of firewood was fantastic. There were several issues with the unit though, internet down when we arrived( fixed on day 2 after 2 phone calls) screen door falls off everytime you open it, maintenance said it just needs to break before it can be fixed. Dishwasher doesn't work, fridge broke halfway through our trip, lost milk and meat. Took 3 calls to get maintenance out to tell us it couldn't be fixed. The resort did let us use the fridge in the unit next door though. There is a bad step on the way up to the loft, don't step on it if you are an adult. The mattresses were not what I would call comfortable, definitely need to replace those. The unit could use some updating considering the price you pay per night. I would consider this a really nice camping trip, not a resort. The staff at the resort is friendly but inconsistent when it comes to getting some one out to work on a problem.

This place has views that are breathtaking. The rooms were nice and cozy and having a roaring fire in the wood burning stove was wonderful. The people are nice and helpful. It’s only 5 minutes from the ski lifts, so the location was perfect. We can’t wait to come back next winter.

Very clean, nicely appointed individual townhouses right on the water. Beautiful lake views, crashing surf sounds, a wood burning stove, and a full kitchen make it a perfect place to stay.

Posting this so others don’t waste their money. $1700 for 3 nights for 2 people in the tiniest, most out of date dump. Even with two people it’s super cramped space and they tout it for 4+ people. And it’s at least 30 years overdue for a remodel. The staff was polite upon check in, the 100 sq ft of “condo” was clean but it’s a ridiculous price for what another reviewer accurately called glorified camping. It’s water-damaged wood paneling and out of date, cramped spaces. For perspective, our unit’s source of entertainment is a DVD/VCR. We aren’t here for watching tv but it is an example of how outdated the unit is. Don’t even get me started on the bathroom. The location is on the beautiful lake but even the access and rocky beach is relatively small. The deck is tiny and decomposing and the dirty plastic chairs don’t help. If I had known how outdated and overpriced this is, I would definitely not have booked. We are likely leaving early. We are not opposed to spending the money we did to have a good experience in one of our favorite places, but this wasn’t it. We’ve stayed on the North Shore in multiple locations for 20+ years and there are way better options which we will be using exclusively in the future.

We rented sea villa K2 for a 3 night stay. You could say location is everything however there are some things you can’t ignore for the astronomical daily rate; the rotting outside deck/picnic table and old mattress in the main bedroom. The unit had beautiful new stainless steel appliances and flooring.

If you think spending $700 per night guarantees some minimum standard of safety, condition, comfort or cleanliness, think again. Upon arrival and boiling kettle for tea burner so encrusted with old fat and food started to burn triggering fire alarm that could only be turned off by disconnecting. Dishwasher did not work despite management being aware of problem. Serial number indicated it was mfg in 1980. Bedroom drapes very badly stained probably from water damage. Didn’t really matter as curtain rod was broken and so could only be partially closed. Screen door stuck and could not properly close thereby admitting flies. Shower screen door was out of track and leaked water. I am 5.8 and when in shower I looked down on head. Stooping was order of the day. All furniture, baseboards, stairs etc badly chipped stained and grimy. Oven has two temperatures on and hot and off apparently never temperature calibrated. This partial list of items for unit A1 may not represent all units but it is clear that management does not impose nor inspect for minimum standards

Beautiful location and cabin. Would definitely go again. I loved the view and the amenities were very relaxing. The cabin was well stocked and had plenty of sleeping space as well as a wood stove for a cheery fire. Right on the water. The only thing I would suggest is that they put a shovel out for people to access- the parking wasn't plowed because there was just a storm and there was no shovel. It's Minnesota... If we had a smaller vehicle we wouldn't have made it out.

What an absolutely wonderful place to relax. You can hear the waves on the lake just by opening the windows, the villas are extremely cozy and comfortable if not hugely spacious, and the surroundings are gorgeous. It's hard to imagine a more ideal situation to get away and sit around and do whatever you enjoy most. I should note that the activities are also great however, and shockingly they're all free. There are daily 2.5 hour guided sea kayaking tours of Lake Superior, for example, with all the equipment including wetsuits provided. At other places you could easily expect to pay $45 for an hour of the same experience. There are also all the resort standards, pool, hot tub, spa, etc. Especially for the price, these are amazing.

Beautiful view of the lake and very cozy. Definitely would recommend for groups. The villa we stayed in had a queen bed and 3 mattresses in the upper loft. Very cozy. The villas are also right on the lake, great to wake up to the sound of waves in the morning

Great location, but dated and very small. The 1 bedroom 1 story with loft villa did not comfortably fit our family of 4. We all slept fine but after a long day of hiking, there was no place that we could all relax and put our feet up. The bathroom needed some updating. For instance, my husband couldn't comfortably shower due to his height. He is only 6'1", so not a giant. It is surprising to us that we paid the same for our outdated villa as someone who stayed at a more updated villa of the same size.

Fantastic views, beautiful Villa ... Campfire smells with the in door fireplace that had resort provided wood for it! The ambiance was amazing ... One of our more memorable trips to Superior. Quick trip to the main lodge or use the close by pool and hot tub. We will rent a villa again.

First time we have stayed this far north along Lake Superior. We rented this townhouse and would do this again in a heartbeat! Great sunrise before we started our tour of the fantastic fall colors framing the beautiful waterfalls.

Really close to the lake! Also, there is an actual backyard which is great for dogs. The wood stove is terrific to have on chilly nights. While the place isn't fancy it's very cozy, quiet and relaxing.

Worth the money! Sleeps 6 comfortably and fully furnished. Fantastic view of Lake Superior. Also perfect location if you love to fly fish. The Cascade, Temperance and Baptism are all within 45 min of each other. Only thing i would improve on is a bigger TV screen. In Todays age, id expect a 42inch to be about right. Did i mention free wifi and a nice pool, hot tub and sauna to unwind in?
