We came for dinner on a Saturday evening after a day of snowboarding. The ambiance was great and our server was really fun and personable. Everything from the hot drinks - we ordered the Juniper Cider and the hot toddy - to the starters, entrees, and dessert was exceptional . Highly recommend on every possible level!

After skiing the day at Lutsen Mountain, I was very happy that Bluefin Grille was open- not much else was.We were taken to our table, right at the windows & had a beautiful Lake Superior shore view. Service was outstanding and "On time." They had a good selection on their menu, food looked and tasted Great - reasonably priced too!I will make a point to eat there again, next time I'm in that area!

This is only one of a couple places to eat in this remote area. Make it a little later in the evening and this is the ONLY place to eat! The staff and food at this restaurant was very good. We both enjoyed our meals and the bartenders were really cool to talk with and made sure our glasses were always full.

I'll start off saying the service was fine. Everything else from there was mediocre at best. The best thing was the barbecue chicken mac and cheese which was on the kids menu. Went there with the family and I ordered the risotto which was extremely bland boring and a scallops lacked any sear, it was most likely frozen and microwaved or something because they were rubbery. The chicken sandwich was bland and boring as well even though the description was quite tantalizing. The buttered rum was fairly decent, the old fashioned and the blueberry gimlet came with what I would assume was ice from an ice maker and using tap water. Which is never going to produce the best drink. Overall a $37 risotto that had almost no flavor and frozen scallops I was not impressed whatsoever. It is Lutsen So I suppose I didn't expect culinary excellence but if you're going to put the stuff on the menu learn how to make it.

Listen, this place has potential! That's the first thing I'd like you to read!I give this place a 3 out of 5 because the service itself was great! The atmosphere was nice! The issue is that the food that my party and I ate was seemingly all lukewarm and super salty. Secondly, my stake that I ordered was Lukewarm to the point that butter wouldn't melt. You would naturally think that you'd get a high quality meal for such a hefty price but like I said it was just okay...

Picturesque location and a nicely designed and comfortable restaurant and bar. Salads were good, seafood bisque far too salty.

Some of the best food I’ve had out to eat in a long time. Their buffalo and garlic Parmesan wings were perfect. Duck wild rice soup was also cozy and delicious on a fall day. In addition, I had the chicken balsamic burrata salad. It had a pesto vinaigrette and it was nice, light, and refreshing. You best believe I will come back here during my North Shore adventures again next summer!

The best part of eating here is sitting out in the deck looking out on Lake Superior! It is so calming and beautiful! The food is fine. My walleye poorboy was fine, but nothing was sensational!

Terrible experience this past weekend at Bluefin grille , thankfully the manager sorted things out at the end . Definitely will not be returning. Service was sub par , the food was not worth the price , and also did not enjoy sitting there for 3 hours while our waiter continued to bring out incorrect orders of both food and drinks . ( also each bill was wrong , with extra meals and drinks that were not ordered ) We had a party of 6 people, one was waiting for their entree while the other 5 had already completed theirs … while waiting for orders to arrive another waiter could tell we were left alone for quite a while and even offered to bring us a milkshake with 6 straws . I get she was trying to lighten the mood, but it was quite offensive , considering I’ve had better meals and service at fast food restaurants .

We had an excellent dinner here! We didn't make a reservation so no tables were available, but we were able to sit a the bar right away. The wild game meatloaf was great! The service here was outstanding as well. Every staff member was very attentive, and they all worked together well to make sure every guest was taken care of efficiently

1st night we ordered the portabella mushroom burger and spicy chicken sandwich we had amazing walleye cakes for an appetizer. They were so good we went back the next night and ordered 3 of them along with buffalo chicken wings which were delicious. Their house salad made with fresh and crispy lettuce was packed full of fresh vegetables from cucumbers, onions, tomatoes & shredded carrots. Their homemade ranch and blue cheese is tasty!

Beautiful ambiance and view. The appetizer I had, the blackened walleye cakes, were amazing! However, I ordered the stuffed bell pepper as my entree, and it wasn't very good. Pretty bland and tasteless - completely opposite the appetizer. I ordered a margarita and it was subpar. So I then got a glass of the bluefin bay north shore winery red wine - also wasn't good. I found that odd, since I had the same wine just an hour earlier at the North Shore Winery and it was my favorite. So I'm not sure if it was a different vintage, or was a bottle that had been sitting open overnight or something to make the wine taste "off." While it was a beautiful night, the dinner was just ok.

The food was delicious and it was presented so so beautifully. Our waiter was exceptional and the service delivery (other than our arrival) was great. The big reason I wouldn't give it a 5 star is that when we arrived, the greeter asked if we wanted a bar table. We have a little 10 month old so we said no. He said a bar table would be able to accommodate a high chair and insisted it would be fine. We asked if outside seating was available instead considering it was warm and sunny out but our greeter said no (which I was quite confused why since we can see visibly all the tables were open.) Thankfully another greeter/worker came and told him the bar wouldn't look appropriate at all and that there was a table open that we could be seated at. Otherwise, great restaurant!

Do not get rid of the duck chowder and maple chipotle wings!!! Sooooo good!!!!Excellent soup and side salads. Homemade ranch is great. Good cheese curds… Decent bacon cheeseburger. I wish the menu was a little larger & had more appetizers. Great service . The view is amazing.

Beautiful atmosphere, our server John was awesome and made the experience. We came for our anniversary and were looking forward to filet dinners. Unfortunately, they did not have that available due to vendor issues, which we completely understand. We had the ribeye, which was ok, thin cut but cooked well. We asked for side of shrimp, was excellent and side of scallops, they were very bland and wished they had been seared. We received a complimentary dessert for our anniversary, which was very nice. We would go back next time we are in town.

Great restaurant fabulous scenery. The deck is small but dog friendly, if you get a table there on a nice day it's an amazing view to go with your meal.Food was well prepared and ingredients were well rationed and balanced, there is definitely some thoughtfulness put into the dishes.

Phenomenal. Started with walleye cakes... So good. Ribeye, veggies, cold brew martinis.... Skillet cookie for dessert. We did it all. Our waiter was so great. Recommended additional places on our trip and even wrote them down. I wish I grabbed his name, but felt like one of those people you've known for a while. Thank you!

SO GOOD! We wanted an authentic North Shore experience with a view and this place nailed it. We ordered the Duck Wontons for an appetizer—highly recommend. I could’ve eaten that for the whole meal. Luckily, I ordered the Walleye Sandwich and was blown away. I’m not even much of a fish guy but that sandwich was great, exactly what I was hoping for and more. And the views from our table were unbeatable. Our waiter, John, took great care of us. Will definitely be back next time I’m up on the North Shore!

First time staying in the area so we wanted someplace close by. Very pleased with the atmosphere, the food, and the view from our table! The Duck and Bacon wontons were delicious, as well as the rest of our meal.

Waited 20 minutes after being seated before a waitress talked to us (ironically the manager spoke to us right as we were seated but we didn't see him again). We were seated in the table across from the kitchen (very noisy). Ordered the pan fried walleye with mixed vegetables. The fillet was dried out and cold. The vegetables were cold as well. Added a star because the maple syrup old fashioned was very good. We were there on a Friday night and it was very busy. Saturday night we had dinner up the road at the Cascade Restaurant and Pub and it was excellent! I suspect the problems we encountered at Bluefin were related to being understaffed. Bluefin in a beautiful location with a lot of potential, and I truly hope they can figure it out.

We stayed at Bluefin for our Anniversary, which also happened to coincide with Valentine’s weekend. We were able to get seated right away, and our server was excellent! Drinks were great and my husband’s wild rice soup and Caesar salad were fine (nothing bad about them, but nothing to write home about either); my maple bourbon salmon was overcooked (if I wanted to, I could probably bounce it off the floor). It’s never a good sign when the best part about your 30 something plate is the mashed potatoes (which rightfully, were delicious). We came back another day around lunch time for some appetizers. The duck and bacon wontons are TO DIE FOR. Excellent flavor and the wontons were crispy. We also got garlic parmesan wings (at the time we were there, they were 16 bucks for 8 wings), which only 2 of the 8 were edible. The rest were cold, overcooked, and stringy. We had the wings removed from our check. We initially had dinner reservations for that night that we cancelled due to the experiences above. We tried to order food for delivery one night (around 6:30 pm) and were told that the kitchen is unable to take any requests at this time for delivery and to call back at 8:30 pm. We did and were told the same thing and to call back at 8:45pm. Again, called back and were told that the kitchen is no longer accepting delivery orders for the night. At this time, the other restaurant on site was closed.Really wanted to love this restaurant but kept being disappointed with each experience.

Absolutely a treat. Nestled way up North. Stunning views of the lake. The wait staff was great. Full and life and great energy. Our drinks were wonderful. Very unique and delicious. The Wings were what you find at a nicer restaurant. The were a very good dry rubbed wing. Meaty and flavorful. The real treat was the Walleye sandwich. I've never had one that was so crispy and lightly breaded but was melt in your mouth. The walleye was a huge filet and super juicy. Dessert we got the cheese cake. It was a perfect end to the meal. Very thick and rich flavors. I totally recommend this restaurant if you are in the northern north shore. FANTASTIC!

The dry rub wings were unexpectedly amazing.Food was great. English was a slight barrier with our server. Place was eerily quiet (no background music, etc.) so you could hear everything in the kitchen.Location is phenomenal. Prices very much inline with what you'd expect at a resort grille. We will definitely stop again in our travels.

Beautiful views right on Lake Superior. Food is good. Enjoyed the breakfast. Sunday buffet is okay but at $14/plate a bit overpriced for the quality. Wild rice omelette is tasty but canned mushrooms took it down a notch for me. Servers are friendly and attentive.

My husband and I are staying at the resort. We made reservations for dinner on a Saturday night. The atmosphere and views were good, but the service and food were sorely lacking. I’ve worked in fine dining for a few years and I hate leaving reviews under 4 stars, but I also know how important detailed feedback is for a restaurant that’s willing to take it seriously.Looking at the menu online, there were several dishes listed on it that they didn’t have on the printed menus (a few appetizers, a risotto entree, a short rib dish, a salmon and lingonberry entree, a venison tenderloin). I was hoping to try the salmon or venison so that was disappointing. We were sat quickly. Our server seemed incredibly rushed and overworked. It was a long wait to place orders for appetizers, drinks and entrees, to get our check and then to pay it. She seemed like the only server who was in any sort of hurry, so I wonder if she was just given too many tables. We started off with the cheese curds and those were pretty good and came out nice and hot. I ordered the fresh fish — a pan-seared herring with wild mushroom risotto and vegetables. Unfortunately, the vegetables were the best part. The fish was seasoned okay, but I was expecting more of a crust or sear, it was all the same mushy texture. I’ve made and eaten risotto many, many times and this risotto was probably the worst I’ve ever had. It was extremely mushy and gummy, and seemed undercooked and overcooked all at once. Overall the vegetables were the only thing with any sort of texture. I ate a few bites of the risotto and left the rest on my plate. My husband just ordered a soup and salad. He seemed to enjoy his food. The cocktail and mocktail we ordered were good as well.Lastly, we decided to stick around to order the creme brûlée, and they were out.I’m no stranger to higher prices, but for what we paid, I would expect better food and a better experience overall. Maybe if you are just coming for a burger and fries things are better, but I wouldn’t recommend risking their entrees. I elected not to say anything because my husband was trying to treat me to a nice dinner and I didn’t want him to feel like I was disappointed.

The food was amazing and full of flavor. Our waitress was also very good. Not overly attentive but enough to anytime we needed a drink she was on top of it. Very expensive dinner but also very worth it in my opinion. Coming back again tonight! Only negatives was my duck wild rice soup came a bit cold (was still very good), and the jazz music was a bit loud and overbearing.

Delicious food. Friendly service. Amazing views. Meals cooked to order. The Sausage and Chicken Paella was excellent. Great selection of wine, cocktails, and draft beers. Great selection of desserts. Just need to add espresso as an option!

This place, quite possibly has one of the best food on superior north shore between Duluth and grand portage. The views from their patio is breathtaking. Our hostess Tessa and server Reggie were phenomenal. The food is well cooked and arrives quickly, in-spite of being a bit understaffed, we didn’t notice a the drop in service quality like other places on the lake. I recommend the blueberry gimlet cocktail and the nacho burger.

Excellent food and service. Beautiful views of Lake Superior. The prices were good considering the portions were large. The salads were very fresh. The wraps were big and very good. The wings were crisp and well seasoned. Even the kids menu was very good.
