There's a HUGE pumpkin posted up and the kids and I didn't hesitate to abruptly turn off 36 and see what these guys were about. Things are pricey but I suppose these lovely inflation times are to thank for that. Kids and I enjoyed our time there. Thank you.

Best place in the east metro for pet food and farm animal supplies. Knowledgeable staff, excellent service, great open hours. Only place I know to get locally (WI) grown organic chicken feed for the healthiest poultry and best eggs we’ve ever produced. Forget the big box stores & support locally owned animal food stores!

I came to Houle’s on 6/16/23. They had all the products I needed in stock, a great plus! The products I bought were all $2-4 more expensive than at other stores, definitely a minus especially if buying in bulk. They had at least 3 young staff members there, a plus. It was 10- 15 minutes before closing and they would not take cash. I had exact change, but they said they already closed the register. I had worked in retail for years, and could never have imagined turning away a customer who had exact change even if it meant me working a little harder for a few extra minutes fixing the til. It was pretty dang inconvenient on my end. I’ll probably only be back if I happen to be in the area and need something in a pinch.

Spike and Houles is a great little place that we drove by a lot for years and finally checked out when we got some chickens. They have so much more there than what we expected. Bird seed, feeders and bird houses, dog food, great staff, plants and gardening stuff. Lawn care products.And the staff is always cordial and super helpful. We have started going here for ALL of our chicken supplies now including ordering new chicks. They know their stuff.

Been going here since 1996...the BEST place for horse feed choices. However..the new young girls working there need retraining. Ive recently had numerous occasions where they have no idea what im talking about or asking for. A week ago i called and inquired about a certain feed and i was made to feel stupid for asking and was promptly told they didnt carry it. So i drove there the next day and the gentlemen working there said they indeed carry the item i was looking for. Another time i was there i asked if they had any square bales of alfalfa hay. The response i got back was "what do you mean by bale of hay...im new here!!"

Great Farm Store! We have purchased chickens from them many times over the years and they are always healthy and in great shape. Once our order was short and they made up the difference promptly. There feed is also very good, always fresh..If you ever have any farm related questions the staff is very knowledgeable and a great resource....

Very easy to work with when I put in an order for day old chicks, they were very patient with me...I was a first timer. It was nice to not have a minimum order like most other places. The chicks arrived on time and have all been healthy. I will be ordering more and more chick/en feed from here. It's nice to have a small store instead of a huge chain.

Went and was going to buy some standard pigeon mix. Price was insanely over price at $33 plus tax for a 50lbs standard pigeon mix. I had the employee pull a sample bag for me to see and it was so standard. I didn't buy. At that price if I'm getting the high quality pigeon racing and or breeding mix with all the high grade grains already.

I love Houle's. They were recently purchased by Gerten's. I hope the old school farm feels continues and it stays a hub for buying baby chicks. Out of 31 chicks I only lost one and only ended up with 2 roosters. Very high quality birds! I love their knowledge and kind people who work there too. Everytime I go there I am greeted with friendly workers!

We've had chickens for years and this is where we always get our bedding and feed, they always have just what we need. Plus the staff is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to gardening, live stock and wildlife. If you're in need of feed, seed or bedding go check them out.

This is the coolest store ever, I love this place! It reminds me of a time when you could go to lumberjack days and see half a dozen people you know. So many choices for bird seed it's amazing.

It's used to be a Five Star Feed Store now Gertens purchased it. And I downgraded it because half the stuff they don't carry or they discontinued now they're selling pumpkins and flowers. Sadly I'm now looking for a new feed store.

It's a great place to buy grain for your horse(s) and pet supplies in general. They bring your grain out and place it in your vehicle. The staff is always friendly!
