I've been going here for over twenty years. New owners now price has gone up. Way too much for a small town like this. I don't go there anymore. One star because of the price. No complaints at all under the previous owner.

The Hilltop Inn in Slayton, MN is under new ownership as of DEC 4, 2023. The property is undergoing a wide range of improvements/renovations and now has Starlink super fast satellite WIFI, Smart Roku TVs and Keurig machines with coffee and tea pods in each room! More positive changes on the way such as all new pillows and linens, painting, new carpets, new amenities!

I cannot say enough how clean and accommodating she is! 1st off, She keeps the entire place, not just the rooms spotless. She has clean linen, towels, everything you need, whenever you need it. We are staying long-term for work and she even offers an oven in the main area. They are great people and don't mess around when it comes to keeping their business in order. I would highly recommend them to anyone!

Clean but with a slight stale smell after being closed up for some time. Had a short wait to check-in. A reasonable price per day.Nearby activities: Had a nice dinner at The Grain Exchange restaurant/bar that's only a couple blocks away.

Vehicle was having problems had work to completing in town decided to stay and was pleasantly surprised on how nice it was, things are kept up and nice owners that care and pleasant to talk to, cleanroom, nice bed, clean showers. No fancy stuff but ice machine and GOOD coffee in the morning. Just an overall feeling of cleanest. Also enjoyed the lounge area they had set up in the front also Pizza oven.

We made reservations for the July Draft Horse Show in May. Since they don't send any form confirmation we called twice to confirm that we had rooms for the event. The second call was on July 5th and we were assured we had 2 rooms. We arrived at the Show on Saturday the 9th. There was a waiting period before the next event and we called the motel to see about an early check in. We were told that someone on the night shift gave away one of our rooms because it had a queen size bed and a Judge for the Horse Show brought his wife. We were expected to bunk up with the other couple traveling with us because we had 2 beds in the other room. We cancelled the reservation and found a REAL MOTEL. Very disappointed.

While it does not have the amenities that other hotels / motels have, it is still quite pleasant, the rooms are clean and modern, the owner is friendly and loves to share pictures and stories of recent events such as when the parking lot across the street was flooded from heavy rain last month. My only complaints are that some rooms do not have microwaves and that you have to use the one in the lobby, but it also has a pizza oven, which I have never seen in a hotel before and could come in handy if you want to go grab a frozen pizza from the grocery store. And a few of the other guests were very loud outside, but that's not really the motels fault. And you have to go to the lobby to get shampoo, but it's in a box that any guests can take from so it's no real inconvenience. Would recommend.

Great renovated room. Flat screen, microwave, fridge. Room also had two lounge chairs which was nice. Stayed on the east side and black out curtains were useful. It's a quick drive to Worthington and price was cheaper than most hotels making it a good choice.

Rooms were clean but very old. Mattresses were at least 20 +yrs old and stained badly. Bedding and linen (towels) were see through. When someone smoke in smoking rooms the smell would come into your room through the walls and bath fan. They had to put bleach down the tub drains in several rooms because of bugs in drains.The owner does hand written billing so if you have multiple rooms you better check your statement as we had several mistakes. It is the only place in town to stay at. No other hotels or motels in town. (Lack of choice if working in town)If you arrive later then 6:00 most nights you have to call a number he leaves out on front desk.He is usually at the local bar 2 blocks a way like norm from cheers. He also hits on every woman who comes in including my wife. I would highly recommend staying somewhere else especially if you are female.

I spent 3 nights here, to attend the 15’th Murray County Classic Draft Horse Show, July 9,10,11’th 2021. This motel and the Horse show is located in Slayton, Mn. I cannot thank the owners Gordy and Christie enough, for providing such an EXCELLENT place to stay at! I’ve never stayed at a 4 star hotel that was “cleaner” and more comfortable and for rates that can’t be beat! Christie is the most beautiful, kind and interesting woman I’ve ever met! She and Gordy are a Class Act, that you just don’t find in the hospitality industry anymore! I loved Miss Lulu and Missy, their 2 dogs, who added the special feeling of being home! There’s no place like home, except at this small town Gem to stay at!Thanks so very very much!

VERY NICE MOM AND POP MOTEL!!!I am currently Traveling through the Slayton Minnesota area.Staying the night at the Hilltop Inn Motel, located right off of US Highway59 in the Town of Slayton, Minnesota.VERY easy access from the highway.Very nice inside Lobby, reminds me of a Hunter's Lodge. Excellent down home type Decor and super clean.Looks like these Folks. Enjoy their business and take care of their property very well.The General Manager Christie is a very nice good hearted lady who is beyond PLEASANT .Treats people good. Definitely a people person for sure.The Rooms are very large and Clean beyond normal standards. There are power strips, mounted Flat Screened TVs with good Channel menu line up.Nice Clean Bathrooms and Tubs, Carpets are really clean with nice entry Rugs. Even has Two Chair. Recliners in my Room. Bed appears to be nearly new and very comfortable.As I mentioned, it appears that the Owners and Manager have went above and Beyond to make sure that Guests have a nice stay. The consistent good Reviews written on this Motel definitely reflect this!My Overall Opinion on this place is a good one. A safe, clean, and very hospitable. American Owned Motel.VERY Affordable!! Why pay more at your bigger Chain Motels and get less service. Ya get down home service here. Save some money and stay right here.Make this your designated stop when Traveling US Highway 59 North or South while coming through Slayton.Close proximity to all amenities within just a short distance. I stayed at Hilltop Inn this last weekend for the Autumn Boutique. The owner is very friendly and the room I had was very clean and plenty of room. Yes the furniture is a bit outdated, but the bed slept comfortably and there was also coffee and doughnuts on Saturday morning.
