Nice random stop. Most of it is overpriced and has been sitting there for years but it is all well-tended, unlike most of the (not-so-closet) Hoarder Yards that advertise as "antique" or "thrift" stores that have their stuff priced to _not_ sell. Occasionally there are decent prices, but mostly I see things like glassware singles for $6, entire sets of cut-glass "crystal" for $250, used carboys or canning pots for $30-75...

Lots of neat things to look at! I bought some jewelry and spent a long time just browsing at the neat items

So much glass! If you are looking for something from your childhood or to update missing pieces, this is the place.

Reduce, Reuse, give me your recyclable refuse.

This is a mecca for me on the North Shore, in East Beaver Bay. As a tableware collector, I love the sheer variety of pieces available, plus the attractive prices. Some items are indoors, while others are displayed on large plywood improvised tabletops outside. Tarpaulins are attached with clips to the tables outdoors, and can be hastily drawn up to cover merchandise in case it rains. Besides tableware, there are figurines, farm implements, jewelry, vintage signs, vases, games, dolls, toys, furniture, decorative artwork, and other categories of vintage items. Sonja is the owner, and will answer questions about inventory and the variety of merchandise being sold there, on consignment. There is something for everyone at Second Hand Rose.

We usually take a yearly trip up to and drive up the coast to Grand Marais. This is one of the places we always stop at. They have so much merchandise and a lot of it is out front of the store on tables and they also have more inside in their store. I noticed this year they have even added more and another building. You can an amazing variety of glassware from back in the forties and fifties. Also statues, figurines, jewelry, clothes like coats, and a whole lot of assorted other things. I usually find a treasure every time I go there. This year I found hand blown glass rooster and he is gorgeous. I have to at home so I just added him to my growing tribe of roosters. I believe they take a lot of things on consignment and a lot of their things are on the pricey side. Just depends on what you are looking for or what gets your attention or what you collect.

They really have the stuff. I walked out seventy dollars lighter (bridle, reins, cant hook). What are you looking for? Items from great grandma's kitchen or grandpa's tool shed or the barn? It may be here. Most everything is displayed very well. Not done yet, will return tomorrow. I just cracked the surface. Prices are very fair.

A cool little place, with LOTS of glass work products. The owner is a lovely gal who was very kind to us. She's been running the place for 20+ years. Lots of old tools as well. Only reason for 4/5 stars is due to the cramped quarters, they have a lot of stuff but it could be claustrophobic to some shoppers.

Very unique items. If you are looking for classic dinner ware, this IS the place. Any style, color, you name it, they have it. Not just plates and cups, the entire set including water ptchures, gravy bowls, side platters for condiments. A truly well stocked store. A fabulous drive to get there as well. There is nothing more relaxing than a drive on Minnesota's north shore.

I loved the name and wanted the place to be cool. It isn't. I guess if you are really into dishes you might like it here. There's more dishes than anything else. But most of the rest of the inventory is overpriced junk

This is a fun place to shop. They always have so many items to look at and prices are reasonable. I like that it is mostly outdoors and they put glassware by color and type. So fun!

Nice clean thrift store priced reasonably. Kind people who work there. I appreciate this tiny town having it around to recycle what we all don't want or purchase something at a great price. I live on the same street.

We stopped off here on the north shore. Collections of old old dishes cups teapots. Dusty and dirty. Very rude woman didnt want to hear the truth about her overpricing ripoff prices. An old cooler from the 60s that looked like it should be free. She wanted $12 for it and we thought it said $1.50.

This place has lots of glass. Wide assortment of everything you use in a kitchen. Great way to spend time looking over the many tables. Their prices are a little high, but you can still find a good buy.

Lots of antiques and collectibles, but there are a lot of things that are just old or unwanted which makes large portions of the shop just seem like catch-alls.

What a fun selection of stuff. There's way more than just dishes. They do charge sales tax. I'd come here if I was decorating a restaurant with antiques or quirky fun household items.

Lots of fun antiques and odds and ends. Stop it'd well worth it. Fiesta ware, glass ware, rocks, China, records, iron works for street number signs, old toys, glass jars, old royal dishware (commemorative) nick naks, vhs, dvds.

There are certainly some treasures to be found here, and that's the only reason this place has 3 stars. It's only open in the summer and when it's not raining and...you get the picture. If it's open when you drive by, stop there and have a look but never plan on it being open. You will rarely in your life find a small business owner more unfriendly than Rose...

This place is off the hook. Huge variety of stuff, the prices seem a bit high to us.

Love to see what they have every time we visit the North Shore. Great spot to pick up vintage Fiestaware.

Glassware is a hard sell, and those prices aren't doing them any favors. Its neat to pull over and window shop, but in all honesty, you're better off just finding a garage sale.

There is old junk. There is cool old stuff. There is cool old junk, and even some genuine "antiques" (in the USA sense, which means older than the internet, anymore) & a bit of stuff I would consider "art".Something for everyone. I bought a turtle! This turtle can't swim, he sinks to the bottom of the water and just sits there, even though he's carved out of very dry wood... perhaps he's made of Suriname Ironwood or Argentine lignum vitae. This is one HEAVY turtle, pretty grain too.

Pretty good, if you like glassware and enjoy the assortment of goods and original pieces. There are some diamonds in the rough but honestly don't care for the prices on any of them though

Very nice staff. It was raining so it was hard to look around since so much of the stuff is outside. The parking situation sucks. It's right off a very busy highway

LOTS of glass so if that's your thing you'll love it! Prices were high like everything on the North Shore.
