I am giving so many stars because the people that live there and helped us were friendly and polite. Booked online four 2 nights while visiting family in town. I arrived past check in and the office was closed. Called the number on my confirmation email as well as what was on the office window and voice mail was full. Two individuals that live there said the owner is out with family and probably not returning that night. One lady did message the one brother who runs the online part of the hotel with my contact number and we left. Returned a little past 6:00 pm and no one contacted me however the same lady did hear from the owner and gave us a key for room 4. Again she was very friendly! The room was fairly clean and still needs maintenence... A cigarette butt was on the floor next to bed, there was nasties in the microwave, there was no table or coffee pot like advertised.. also there was a dirty washcloth in the shower and. the window in the bathroom was broke and fixed with some fluffy stuff and cling wrap! Lol. The cable box was broke so no tv and no internet... again both were advertised.. it took finding a resident the following day to gain access to the internet. I really enjoyed the guy staying next door.. I really wanted to get some type of refund for all the roadblocks and the services we didn't have that were paid for however the whole time being there I was never able to contact either owner. I also learned there are other hotels in the area within 5 miles.... if either owner reads this please somehow make this rite... this was false advertisement and I should get some form of refund for the services I paid for but did not receive. Thank you.Rooms: Roof over your head and heat works. Repairs are being made and besides the window and broken towel rack the bathroom was cute. Also mattress was clean.Nearby activities: Its Sandstone. There is a bowling alley on the main drag.Food & drinks: Bar across the road and not a far walk to downtown.

We arrived. There was an open sign in the office window, but the door was locked and no one in sight. I called the number. Gentleman answered and told me to go to room 5 and the guy there would help. He also asked if we would be ok with 2 rooms with 1 bed. We booked 1 room with 2 beds. No one answered at number 5. But a big dog barked. I called again. He said we could put our stuff in room 4. And we could have room 4 and 8. 4 was locked. 8 was not. It was, however, filthy. There was food and stuff on the floor. The mattress was disgusting. The toilet hadn't been cleaned. There was no toilet paper and the window in the bathroom had been broken out. But instead of boarding it up or fixing it. It had fiberglass insulation stuffed in it and saran wrap covering it. The dresser was broken. We loaded our stuff back into the car. I called again, telling him we were going somewhere else because the rooms weren't clean. I never spoke to an employee or anyone face to face. We went to another hotel. Got a room with 2 beds, and very clean for the same price.

Cheap and clean! A lifesaver! Owner was kind too.The bedding and the bathroom were both impeccably clean (perhaps the two most important things to get right). The bathroom looked recently renovated and the sheets were bright white and smelled of nothing, which is good. The rooms are definitely smaller than those of a chain hotel, but that wasn't really a problem. Fridge and microwave were good too. One negative was that the air filter in the AC/heater was very dirty, but it's meant to be removable and I just cleaned that myself.

The good: the room is cozy and cheap. There's cable and the shower is just fine. The bed is clean and great for such a cheap room.The bad: the furniture is beat to hell and a little broken. For some reason we were not able to lock our door with the key provided, and were only able to lock it from the inside. Because of covid, there were no actual lobby employees and the manager was out of town, so there wasn't much to do about it. The remote batteries were also dead, which we had to go to the store and buy ourselves for the same reason. Just generally got a creepy vibe from the property and everything felt a little shoddy. The locals at the nearby bar assured us it was fine and nothing to worry about.All in all, weird little town. Not bad for the price if you just need a place to sleep for cheap.

Is a small motor hotel in Sandstone. The owner is very personable, and is working hard to refurbish the units. Our room was small, but clean. The bath was in need of more work. Had a good fridge for leftovers and microwave. Bed was comfortable, which was what we were looking for. A simple place for a nights sleep 😴

I stay here twice a month and have learned to think of it as my "home away from home". The owner and staff are always friendly and helpful. The owner even taught me how to replace my windshield wipers when he noticed me struggling with them. I truly feel like they care about my well-being when I stay there and I am not just a number. The rooms are always clean and most of them are in the process of being remodeled. They are always working on improving the property.

Owners were really friendly and they give you a courtesy call if you are running a bit late to check in. But I ended up loosing about $150 to this place. Mine and my fiance's room had nowhere to sit besides a bed. The blinds on the door were broken. The driveway was rough and had big dips in it. And my fiance absolutely hated the place she didn't feel even remotely safe there and I don't blame her. I ended up trying to get my money back since we literally just got there 5 minutes ago but the owners refused. They said maybe If I had a good reason they would give me something back. But apparently someone not feeling safe wasn't a good enough reason. So we ended up going to the Hinkley casino and ended up getting the king suit for not much more than this place cost us. And I'm glad that we didn't stay here now because when we went back the next morning to give them the key back someone had been in our room and closed the blinds. Really makes me glad we were not there at the time. I will never even think about getting a room here again. At least not till they give me at least some of my money back.

Horrible! Reserved a room online because When tried booking directly with the motel online , I was told to go online and book. I got there and was told they didn't have a room for me. No heat in some rooms. It was the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The place looked like a dump. It snowed 2 days ago and the lot was never plowed. No one there speaks english well, junk laying around outside. It was by far the worst place that I almost stayed at.

The caring nature of the people who stay and run this place are totally reason for the monumental rating. Genuine and willing to go the extra mile for anyone who wants to be a tenant in a quant and remote location where you're able to get away from the stress levels of the other high demand areas that are all probably twice the price. This place is nice, tidy, organized, and most of all cleaner than the other hotels around here with the premium rates. I am going to try to stay here for the extent of my stay in this region.

Showed up and found grills, vacuum cleaners, ash trays, and even rotting meat scattered around the front. Upside-down American flag taped to one of the windows. Rooms were not available and it took 20 minutes to figure out which rooms we were supposed to be in, even though they only have 12 rooms. Rooms are clean but in abysmal condition with cigarette burns in the bedding, holes in the blinds covered up with snack wrappers, chipped paint, etc. One of the two rooms did not have toilet paper in the bathroom, had dog hair on the sheets (strongly suggesting they had not been washed), and the tiles in the shower were coming loose. In the other room the sheets and pillow cases were stained with blood, although at least it did not appear to be fresh.I have slept in worse places but only because I was in the infantry. I'd choose this place over bedding down in a mosquito- infested swamp, but that's about it.

Don't judge this book by its cover! The rooms are quite fresh with no musty smell, fresh paint and a comfy bed. They use a light scent in the linens but no febreeze. If you are sensitive to scents, bring your own pillow. (I am quite fragrance-sensitive and had minimal issue here.) I would stay again at our next concert.

I come from Minneapolis and stay here regularly with my dog. The new owners are fabulous! Rooms are clean, they have a refrigerator and coffee maker, and there's plenty of room for walking the dog outside. If you don't need extra amenities, so this motel provides everything needed!

The place itself deserves a 3 as far as the appearance and the rules set out for the staff to deal with. But for the one staff I ran into for my entire stay worked fairly hard to see that we were happy with our stay and he deserves a four star review

Unbelievable for the price, clean, freshly painted, refrigerator, coffee pot, microwave, and TV. Rooms are small, but fine for just sleeping. Was tired and needed a place to just stop now and sleep on a great bed. Except for the train a few down the road, a great nights sleep. A 50-ish style motel on the side of the road. Great service and they are actively working on improving things.Services included that I wanted to note:-high speed WiFi (streaming on multiple devices)-mini fridge-microwave-redone bathrooms, with door, no rust, and all amenities-1 mile away from higher class grocery store and multiple cafes and pizza places-lowest price in the area BY FAR and easy access to both the cities and twin ports

I didn't get to stay. I was coming to that town for work and had called to ask about a room and clearly they asked me where I was from and when I said Ohio she said that they didn't have any rooms for tonight and on their website it clearly shows room available. I travel this way alot and will make sure they will never have my business and we pay good money. So I can stay in a 5 star hotel for my trips. Thanks for nothing.

Unbelievable doesn’t even cover it. Room wasn’t clean, tv didn’t work AND NO HEAT!!!! When we checked in we were told “ you have 7 minutes to make complaints and then there will be no one to help you” After discovering the no heat we left. I’d sleep in my car before stopping here.

At first I don’t know what to think at this place. Need a place to stay visiting husband at FCI because it’s 15 min a way from here. Whoa the owner is amazing so helpful and made sure my stay was the best. The room was not bad and plus they got cable. If you are visiting come stay here. They also got store, restaurant and etc. If you need a ride to FCI ask he will drop you off and pick you up, upon request. Taxi is $12.00 + From the hotel to FCI. Highly recommend if you are on a budget. I will definitely stay here again.

I've never actually been, but this place looks like your typical "dive motel". If you're hard pressed to find a place to sleep I suppose you'd be better here than on the street but the place just screams sketchy. Views don't offer much considering you'll be looking at a street, there's not much to do in town unless you like bars or eating, maybe the quarry park. Not a clue what prices are, what the rooms look like, but you'd be far better off going down the road a ways to Hinckley.

I had a flat tire on the freeway just before sandstone and had to wait until the following morning to get it fixed and the owner/worker at this hotel was very friendly and helpful and even gave me a discount on my room. The rooms and outside of this hotel have just been updated and I highly recommend staying at this hotel if your in the area. Thanks again for the amazing stay and YOU ROCK!!

Rolled into town at 1am for a late planned Kayaking trip the next Morning and the owner/manager woyld not give me a room. His reason being that the office closed at 10pm. I pleaded with him to let me stay because I had nowhere else to go but he said sorry I just cant help you. This guy was a lazy uncompassionate douche
