My nephew and I came to pick up my niece who is a minor that was working in a neighboring store to this Petco location. While we were waiting for her to get off work, we went into Petco to check out their fish selection (before they were closed). My nephew is newer to fish keeping and I was helping him get more fish that would be suitable for his current tank and tank mates. We decided on getting him a Betta. After selecting the fish for him, we went to go check out (at this time, it was after 8 pm and store was closed and my niece arrived outside waiting and was waiting).My niece was waiting outside because the employee closed the door on her and would not let her in since they were already closed. She informed the employee that she was waiting on us and wanted to come inside (again, she is a minor, it's 58 degrees fahrenheit outside, and didn't feel comfortable waiting out there by herself). The employee declined her request and came to get us (at this point we were already headed to the cashier). I asked them if they could let her inside. They said that she could wait outside while they were ringing up other customers, and then us with our fish, and then we could go out to be with her.I told them she was a minor and that I did not feel comfortable having her wait outside while we were waiting to get rung up.The cashier insisted that she can still wait outside (with an attitude at this point).At this point, I'm in disbelief and told my nephew to put the fish on the counter and that we're leaving. We will not be spending anymore money on a business with employees that don't care about the safety and well-being of others (especially minors).To the Petco employee: If that were your child, would you still have made them wait outside?Do better Petco.

It was time to stock up on dry dog food, Greenies treats, and our dog's favorite, Maro Bones! The staff was very helpful. I couldn't find the Maro Bones, and a staff member showed me where they were, but there were none on the shelf. Then he said he thought there was one more large jar of Maro Bones in the back, and he went in and got it for me. They have first-rate employees at this Petco in Rochester!

The appointment took 3 1/2 hours for a small dog. I was told the groomer was very busy between my dog and another. Why make an appointment if the time is not for my dog. Was also under the impression I would get a discount being a first time customer. Couldn’t find that in my receipt. It was my first visit and last. My time is valuable also.

I needed food for a dog I'm watching, the owner told me what to get so off I went to petco. Upon arrival the gal behind the register was on her phone and didn't even acknowledge me. As I went in search of my food of choice I met an associate named Josh, who walked me right to my food and helped me pick out a treat, I then waited to checkout, the cashier wasn't up front. When she finally did get up there, she didn't acknowledge my wait. She then asked for my phone number, I told her politely no, to which she responded "You're generation is the problem". I don't own an animal of my own but I don't think I'd frequent here of that's how I'm treated.

The smell!! It's unreal!! I've been to so many pet stores and not one smells as awful as this place, you can smell the stink outside!! They are also charging more for items in the store than they are online, not sure what that's about.. I guess you have to pay extra for the nauseating smell. They've also started charging .10 cent for bags that 'suck' (the cashiers words).

The purpose of my visit was to purchase to items for the dog I had recently adopted from Healing Hearts Rescue. I had a gift card that I was unfortunately not able to use and the cashier was not willing to even try and refused to manually enter the information. Also, when I first approached the checkout Tracy rudely finished her text on her personal cellphone before even acknowledging me. I am going to return all of the items and try another store where my patronage is valued.

Typical pet store smells, but it's a clean store. Definitely check out the random pop-up sales! It's absolutely worth the stop in! The staff is great very helpful. While it's always hard seeing the sad animals, the cages were clean, and the animals looked healthy.

We were going to Petco for grooming in New York State for all our dogs for all their lives. Petco in Rochester MN NW just refused to take our dogs because one is 17 and one has brachycharia ( slower than average heart beat). We have been using them happily since 2009 in NYS but apparently this place has ridiculous standards

It's a bit small, and a little dingy at times. The central lighting of the store seemed to be out when I went and it lent it an eerie air, especially around the fish tanks. But the staff are amazing.You can tell the dog groomers for example REALLY enjoyed what they were doing. One groomer in particular was super bubbly as she worked, and the joy she felt finishing up the groom of a poodle. She just beamed at me while petting the amazingly well behaved dog, and I couldn't help but beam back.When I couldn't find what I wanted, one of the two cashiers on duty actually came to help me find some options. They didn't have what I needed, sadly, but he spent a good 10 minutes working with me to try and find something that would suit my needs, and the returns I needed were done in about two minutes.

Really disappointed in the Guinea pig kidMy wife took our Autistic 8 year old Daughter to pick up 2 Guinea Pigs she had picked out the day before and they were told this employee decided and hour before they got there to buy the only fluffy Guinea pig and refused to do the decent thing and let them buy it. He went on to tell them how he has 11 at home and 3 are pregnant and if we were to get one from another group it would take time for them to acclimate to each other. I understand it is hard to work at a place that sells pets to not take them all home but denying an 8 yo in such a way is very disappointing

Connor was wonderful and very helpful. Five stars for him. Unfortunately one of our fish died the first night. The others that were in the same bag were fine, though. I think Petco needs to do a bit better, as we did several dead/almost dead fish in a few tanks. I try not to support chain pet stores but they have weeded out most of the smaller people who actually love and care for animals. So probably my bad for buying fish there.

We talked to 2 different employees. One gave us very helpful information and advice on hamsters and mice. Another showed us a snake and gave us all kinds of information. They were so knowledgeable and friendly.

What a wonderful place to buy all my pets needs and wants. Not to mention the awesome customer service thank you Petco. My dog Velma absolutely loves coming inside with me to visit all the other dogs.

Store is filthy. Can't imagine when the last time they vacuumed their rugs! Came in for some dog food and after walking through the aisles several times, never found it. There doesn't seem to be any organization. Should be alphabetical by brand so anyone can go right to it and find the one they need. Never found any staff to help, even though we had our service dog vest on. Disappointing since they do have a nice selection.

Absolutely horrible the pet grooming lady is 100 % racist. If I could give her negative stars I would. I am beyond frustrated and will be emailing my concerns to the company. after I was racially profiled my dog was also on the “referred out” list when I called to reschedule him which means he was on the do not groom list which is for violent dogs or dogs with medical conditions, which neither my dog has and the nice lady that helped me did inform me that there were not notes as to why he was put on that list so I feel that is very unprofessional 0/10 do better

Have stopped at the pet groomers, and they've always got me in for a nail trim for my dog Orion,, I usually stop being at the spur of the moment and they've always made time to get me in, the ladies that work in the pet grooming department are awesome, I want to say thanks to all of them

Don't shop there!! I've been shopping there for 2 years . 8 months ago I bought a cat flower fountain for $35 and several filter refill packs ($10 each) warranty 1 year on fountain. Motor quit working. I did EVERTHINGmanual suggested including taking apart motor and cleaning in vinegar. Even with receipt they won't replace or fix. 4 phone numbers later nobody will help.Nobody knows what they are doing. Don't shop there!!

We took our new rescue dog with us, because we needed harness, leash, waste bags, food, training treats. It was very expensive.Mostly we were disappointed that there were no sales people on the floor to help us, especially when it came to fitting the harness. We had to rely on the kindness of other customers.I would say, not a great place for the inexperienced pet owner.
