I was very worried cause my 1 year old GSD had to be kenneled for an entire month. Keeping him here was a very worry free experience though. They allowed my mom to visit and send me picture while I was traveling abroad. It made me extremely happy to see him and to see that he looked very happy. I could tell he enjoyed staying here. Will definitely keep him here in the future.

The best experience from start to finish. My partner and I adopted a kitty. They are very detailed on everything from other pets in the house being up to date with shots/vaccinations to any training activities. We couldn't be any happier with the process and our new addition to the family.

This shelter is amazing! I worked with Cathy mostly in the process of adopting my little orange tabby waffles, and it was quick and thorough, they take amazing care of their animals and you can tell there is lots of love for all the animals there! They even send your new furry companion home with a goodie bag of treats and toys and a stuffed animal ❤️ if you’re looking to add a furry member to your family, please check this shelter out!!!!

Friendly and knowledgeable staff that communicate well and take great care of the animals! I like that they take appointments—it gave me peace of mind to know I’d have time reserved to get to know the cats I’d applied for. Highly recommended!

I have been in at least 10 times to drop off donations and each and every time the people working are rude and dismissive. Only once did anyone even say thank you. This was before and after Covid, both, so it’s not related to the pandemic. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of concern for the animals outside of very basic needs. This seems like a governmental agency not a place focused on caring for, healing, and finding good homes for the animals. But they will certainly make sure you’re paying them to register your own animals!

We were lucky enough to adopt a cat from here. The process to adopt was easy. Staff were friendly and able to answer all of our questions about the pet we wanted. Right now they are by appointment only, but it was easy to schedule. Plus we have a super awesome cat out of the deal!!

Very disappointed in the way that business is conducted from the beginning. Can't view or visit the animals without an appointment. I adopted a dog from there 10+ years ago and received the best dog. Now it doesn't seem like they want to work with potential pet adopters. Very disappointed!

Why do you call your stray dogs pittbulls when they are strays and you have NO IDEA what breeds these dogs are? It’s deceptive and makes them less adoptable as many landlords won’t allow this breed. Reba and Scrappy look nothing like pittbulls…

I love them! They gave me a dog and she is the greatest! I am so happy with her! They have the best service and they also let us board our dogs for medium prices if we go on family trips! I couldn't have asked for a better humane society. They are also a not kill humane society❤️

I am so incredibly disappointed in the Red Wing Humane Society. I have a co-worker who wanted to adopt a dog. She is an extremely kind, compassionate person who would have given this animal a loving home. The humane society declined her application because, according to the humane society, they were not current on the shots for their other two animals. According to their vet, the shots are not needed every year, they are needed every three years. My friend made an appointment with her vet the next day to get the shots the humane society required. The staff at the humane society would not reconsider, and were quite rude when they were asked (actually begged) to reconsider. I have always thought that the humane society was there to help animals find loving homes. This experience has totally changed my view on what the humane society stands for (in Red Wing). I saw absolutely no indication of anything resembling "humane" with the experience my friend went through. She and her son are heartbroken, and the dog is without a home. Shame on the River Bluff Humane Society for your insensitivity and indifference in a situation that called for kindheartedness and compassion.

Caught a stray cat that kills my rabbits and in my efforts to take it to the humane society. They required I go through my township and it would have cost the town big dollars. It's a bureaucracy that cares very little about the animals and rehabilitation and/or doing what it takes to find an animal a home. Wouldn't recommend them at all

Lady at the desk is extremely rude and uncivilized. I was a potential volunteer, drove all the way from Hastings to turn in my application, during a snow storm...only to find the door was locked. They were open, and the lady sits behind her little desk right in front of the door, acting like im not there, and she doesnt give a second of her time. Do not bother with these rude, uncivilized people that have no business working in an animal shelter. To them its just another job.And to think that I was planning on searching for a dog to adopt here...they can keep their dogs!Avoid private animal shelters at all cost, go to the humane society!!

I'm grateful that our small town has a Humane Society. I appreciate what they do and I contribute often. This is where I always kennel my dogs when I need to go out of town. It's clean, reasonably priced, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Until recently they offered grooming, I'm hoping they do again in the near future.

Wonderful, accommodating, friendly, compassionate staff. Thanks to them my husband and I were able to adopt Walter. He is "the old man" and is also blind and almost deaf. Someone anonymously paid for his adoption fee the morning we picked him up. They gave us his sweater, his food, his blanket ,and took our picture. Walter is warm and happy now.

Rarely do I comment on these things. I just told the lady (who's been trimming my dogs nails for years) about my dogs last vet appointment. Since we were at the vet if they could trim her nails. The vet tech (at Pierce vet) told me that they couldn't trim my dog's nails because it will stress my dog out too much. So they want me to buy meds for a dog that didn't really need. Now I asked the vet tech why I should give my dog Xanax or trazadone just for a nail trim. Her response was that they didn't want to "stress my dog out." With medicating my dog it would be better for my dog. I told the vet tech at Pierce how easy the people at the humane society trims her nails. The vet tech said that she didn't know what the humane society used to clip her nails. My dog get returned to me (post covid so it's a curbside exchange) with her tail up and wagging very content. Pre covid you could just walk in and the ladies take my dog into an exam room, trim her (I barely had time to go see the dogs and cats) and return her to me that quick. Of course post Covid you just call ahead and they will schedule you in and it's just that easy. It's not a fluke. The same ladies are there and very caring. It's sad to think the vets office would be pushing a medication on an animal that doesn't need it. I have also heard other people talking about medicating a dog (to be fair, idk the other dogs issues). But I have told as many people possible to just try the HS in Red Wing . I really do believe that they take your dog and leave your dog happy after the trim. TBH I really don't know what they charge for nails. I leave them with a $20 and they ladies are grateful for the couple of extra bucks. I can't afford to make any big donation, but I can help w little bits at a time. So you see, I strongly urge you to try it. Idt you would be disappointed.

I love this place! We come whenever possible and we like to take out the cats and play with them and we love to donate! We have sponsored two cats, Princess and Brutus. We are working to sponsor more animals. I love to come here and always enjoy myself here.Edit:Dave Erickson: They are a humane society, which means that they take animals that people drop off. You want to report animal abuse? Talk to the ASPCA, an animal *rescue* which means they go all over the place and get animals. Thankyou for trying to help, but you should have done your research and called the authorities instead.Zed Leppelin: They actually do care very much and help you if you would just pay attention. It only costs a lot of money because they spay and neuter the animals, microchip them, and vaccinate them. Imagine owning twenty or more cats and dogs. Think of how much money that would cost. Paying for litter, beds, toys, food, water, power, fences, paper, ink, soap, bleach, the shelter van, and the entire building!Just rethink your claims and do your research before you complain about these people who are helping so many animals. Thank you.

Gimmicks after gimmicks, say one thing, then they do another. They are fake it's very obvious they don't really care. I feel sorry for all the animals here. They only want your money and that's it. They care about nothing else.Never recommend.

They won't let anybody in unless you are pre-approved to adopt whereas all of the other shelters let you take a look that's too bad. I went out elsewhere
