The owner bash on his own son business And I do agree with his owner dad for what he said and it true. Worse motel, dirty, not clean, gave us a renter boat that is not even clean and it was not a 18 footer it was a 16 footer waste money bad experience. Just bad at everything. No wonder the owner dad bash on his own son business. I would rather go to other resort then this one.

10/23 I am updating my previous review. Changing from a one star to a five. We actually stopped by to give it another try after learning the property had new ownership. Amazingly enough we were very pleased! The food and service was good. Property was neat and clean. I believe if there was a bad experience we owe to them a 2nd chance after such a bad experience the 1st time. Obviously the first time we were there on an off day.First review: I stopped at the restaurant on the property end of May 2021 .We were excited because we were told how great it was. When we arrived there were not many people there. We went in and waited for 15 minutes to get someone to take our order and clean off a table. After they cleaned our table and took our order we all went into the restrooms. The women's restroom had dried puke on the floor, there was no soap or towels to dry your hands and there was a couple of dirty washcloths on the counter. We told the waitress about the condition of the bathroom and her explanation was she was aware of it but the cleaning service was backed up. Needless to say we just paid for our drinks we ordered and left! I give the restaurant one star of decor!

My brother and I went during slow season last month in hopes to catch the Northern Lights solely- we were not there for anything else but that. (My experience might be completely different from anyone who is there during peak season) Michelle, the co-owner(?) and also manager, was so sweet and accommodating to our needs and requests. She was extremely responsive. During our stay, we unfortunately, experienced a flat tire, and she immediately called a local mechanic to come save us. One other thing to mention is, prior to our booking, we somehow missed that we needed to bring our own towels but she was so kind to let us borrow a few bathroom linens when we checked in. Another thing to add, is that the food at the grill is really good too! I would definitely come back and stay on this property in the future! Xo

We were very impressed with every aspect of the service we received. The boat we rented was in excellent condition, and they were helpful with our trip planning every step of the way. They were also flexible with us when I made multiple changes: For example, I was going to rent a canoe, and they offered to shuttle us to our desired launch but was able to provide a motorboat last minute when we decided that lake conditions weren't suitable. I also received more advice and tips on Voyagers NP than I did from the rangers. The restaurant is a great oasis of food with a very good beer selection. My highest recommendation.

Really good! We went back all three nights we were up here! The atmosphere is awesome and the food is superb for a bar and grill. We’re from central Midwest so it took a while getting used to how expensive things are up there but the walleye sandwich is well worth it! Highly recommend the nachos as well

My best friend took me here for my bachelorette! She rented a cabin for us to stay 3 nights! I had the best time and everyone was so nice and took great care of us! The best service all around! The food was really good! I loved the garlic cheese curds and the pizza was to die for homemade red sauce! Thank you Michelle for taking such great care of me and helping Tasha make the best bachelorette celebration for me! Mary you are such a sweet heart and Nathan thank you for taking us on the best boat ride tour around the lake! I will be back next summer and can’t wait to bring my soon to be husband here! Thanks again so much for your amazing hospitality you all made my bachelorette so special and I’ll never forget!!

The organization at this place was horrible. We went to rent a boat. Stood in the empty building for about 10 minutes before someone showed up. We payed for our boat and she told us to go down to the docks to get set up and we could just leave the boat that evening when we got back and they'd charge for fuel on the card provided. Went to the docks. The people at the docks had no idea we rented, let alone which boat we were supposed to have. They got us in a boat. The speed and gas gauges didn't work. There were plants growing out of the wet carpet in the boat. There were left over fish bait and hooks in the cubbies. They told us the boat was going to lean left. It definitely leaned left (not steered, leaned). Came back that evening, well before the boat was due. Just so happened to catch a worker on the docks, who was leaving. Double checked we were okay to leave since they had our card. He told us no, we had to go in and tell them how much fuel we used. (Had we not run into him, then what would have happened? They had no record of what boat the rented us.) He fueled us up, and we went in and payed for the amount. Later I saw I was charged doubly for fuel. The amount we actually used when we payed that evening, and then again for some random boat's fuel level they must have fueled up the next morning.

We spent three nights at this resort. The entire experience was fantastic. When checking in one of the owners upgraded us to a spot that had a beautiful view of the lake. She personally walked us to our condo and showed us around making sure we had everything we needed. We had a great pizza and drinks in the lodge with their accommodating friendly staff. The owners are always right there for any questions or concerns. We asked about a canoe rental and were told they were available free as we were guests. The dock person Lucas hauled the canoes yo the dock and made sure we had the proper life jackets.Our condo was well equipped and very clean. With a huge fire ring where the wood was replenished daily. Great experience😀not one complaint. Thank you Ash Ka Nam staff for a perfect experience.

Had a wonderful time. Exceeded all our expectations. The staff did all they could do to make myself, children and grandchildren comfortable in our cabin and restaurant. We were treated like extended family. Cabin was clean and restaurant was reasonably priced and the food from breakfast to dinner was very good. Would recommend.

The accommodations were in excellent shape, the staff at the bar/restaurant were extremely hospitable and welcoming. The scenery was beautiful and the surroundings were clean and well maintained. The water was perfect too. Definitely a great spot for a family getaway. Peaceful and serene.

We just spent 3 days at the Ash-ka-Nam resort. It was absolutely gorgeous! The scenery and fishing were fantastic. The accommodations were perfect. I would recommend it to all especially if you love fishing. Lucas, the dock man was fantastic! So friendly and so helpful and adorable!!! (he's my son) . Well worth the drive if you enjoy beauty and relaxation!

Great food and service by the new owners!We rented a spear house for the day and the owner went out of her way to insure we were happy.The new owners brought in brand new fish and spear houses and also provide guided fishing trips as well and they also have snowmobile rentals available!!Something that was much need on Ash River as it now opens icefishing on Namakan Lake to everyone.

The place was being sold but it was a disaster. The staff was mostly "oh well" on everything. The dock guys were good. A/c was broken, furniture was destroyed, bugs, no wifi, etc. There were no river toys that were advertised for kids to use. Would not recommend.

We enjoy visiting the restaurant for a bite to eat and cocktail when we are touring the Voyageurs Natl Park waterways. The cabins and bar are nestled along the Ash river in a beautiful north woods setting and accessible by car or from Lake Kabetogama by water. There is also a spacious patio for outdoor seating in the summer. It's also a fun spot to stop in the winter by snow mobile. The restaurant bar has a large open floor plan and although noise can carry, it's typically the pleasant sound of merry vacationers. Hours of operation can vary by season, so plan ahead. We recommend you check out Ash-Ka-Nam!

Friendly staff who simply will go above and beyond. Totally worth the visit. In our case we made a couple trips off of Kabetogama up the Ash River to AshKaNam resort for supplies and to add some socializing to our otherwise very peaceful Voyageur NP trip. It started with a call to the resort asking if they sold supplies, specifically spark plugs. They don't sell them, but apparently the owner was in town and offered to pick them up for us. Later that evening we boated in and picked up the plugs, a couple drinks, and some ice and vowed to return before the end of our trip. Two days later we casually boated in and docked at one of their many available riverside docks which share some idyllic views of the rock cliff faces so prevalent to the area. We played pool and shuffleboard and spent some time laughing with the friendly staff. It was the perfect diversion for the afternoon. Recommendation: order one of the vodka slushies in a yard glass. It's the perfect refreshing pick-me-up after being in the hot sun all day. They also have non-alcoholic versions too. Can't wait to go back and spend some more time there. See you in 2018!

The drinks got me drunk. So I achieved what I came for. There was a friendly dog too, but it was wet because it rained. So that was a real bummer, but I pet it anyways. Still washing the wet dog smell out of my clothes. Otherwise it was amazeballs. 3/5

Busy busy spot this Saturday. Hundreds of sleds. People, food, beverages, and gas. One cook, bless her soul, tons of orders for burgers, fries. Wings! Menu has items based on grandchildrens names. Adorable owner and staff helping all the snowmobilers!!
