I've been going to this vet hospital for years and have never really had an issue. The front desk staff is always super nice. Dr. Nelson has always been kind of rude and dismissive but it's never been anything that was really that bad. I took my dog in for an annual and she muzzled him for no reason. This was the rudest she has ever been to us during a visit. She was very short and dismissive the entire time. My son tried to say something while she was talking and she shushed him!! DO NOT SHUSH MY CHILD!!!! She could have handled that situation politely but chose not to. We are absolutely done with this vet clinic!!!!.

My cat was really sick (not eating or drinking, lethargic, drooling, etc.) leaving me very worried. I called to see if I could get him in and they offered to have me bring him in regardless of a lack of appointment openings. They saw him between appointments, taking good care of him, and nursing him back to his spunky self! Additionally, they called to check in on him a few days after! I'm very grateful to the team for taking such good care of him and getting him back to himself! Thank you! You're all appreciated!

When three other vet clinics in Mankato denied service (they were “too busy” or “had a staffing shortage”) these guys stepped up to the plate and got my dog in on an emergency basis. I cannot express my thanks for that enough since we were not established patients there. However, we are now! We’ll continue going back to them for our animal care. Dr Nelson and the staff I met were friendly and very compassionate toward my dog. Thanks, to all of you for the great care yesterday. Stella is doing well today!

I had a great experience with the staff at North Mankato Animal Hospital. They were very friendly and took excellent care of my dog. I appreciated how welcoming they were to new clients. As someone who lives over 3 hours away and has my family dog staying with me permanently, their accommodations were very helpful. Overall, I highly recommend North Mankato Animal Hospital.

I recently had to put my cat, Leo, down due to an enormous missed mass that was somehow missed in X-rays. Leo also had asthma in which I tried to get the ibuteral inhaler to help him with his attacks as they’ve been getting more frequent with age. Dr Nelson led me on for months saying she would order it and when I would call weekly to see if it was in would be told “it’s coming should be in next week” or “she forgot to order it it’ll be in next week” this went on for months and now sadly he doesn’t need it anymore as he’s passed. I learned from my new vet that those inhalers aren’t hard to get ahold of. Dr Nelson also handled my older smaller dog super aggressively by grabbing him and slamming on the table to get him on his side and muzzled him for no good reason. He is a very friendly and gentle dog and when that happened he became scared and confused.He used to not be scared of going into the vet and now is because of that experience. The vet techs are nice but Dr Nelson is rude, dismissive and did not treat my animals with care. It felt like a slap in the face getting “I’m sorry for your loss” card from her when she could have helped my cat and improved his quality of life when he was still alive. I refuse to take my animals back there.

Kirby has good medical care and the vet cares about him, however he needed to have his trauma managed more anticipated before visits because he has PTSD. I think I could have done a few things differently too. He has trauma recently and maybe needs a behaviorist.We put him on prosaic which I think may help. He used to be very docile and affectionate and I'm trying to figure out how to help him because he had an injury and mental trauma while I was away in December this year.I think his arthritis pain management which the vet prescribed is helping but I'm still not exactly sure what's wrong with his back, it came on suddenly.So maybe a sprain if not arthritis? He hates his shots of meds and gets scary when she tries to administer them so I'm trying to figure out how to stop that, we are going to try gabapentin. I wish they made oral Solencia to avoid the pain.His situation is a little baffling. He also has Neuro spasms. He's 16. I hope to get him to be nice and not be terrified of the doctor and not be menacing to her. Kirby is such a darling man; his behavior changes since December make me sad.

Very happy with their commitment to caring for our pets! The Veterinarian is very informative, takes time to provide owners with education on treatment and details about their pet's health. We never feel rushed or feel like we're just a number like at some big buisness pet hospitals. We appreciate this professional yet compassionate team and will recommend to anyone!

the OWNER & MAIN VETERINARIAN is very rude and extremely dismissive of information told to her regarding our cane corso! SHE AGGRESSIVELY placed a mussel on a 4 month old cane corso after showing NO SIGNS of aggression and proceeded to tighten it to the point where he cried of discomfort! she IGNORED his runny stool & his persistent itching! he NOW HAS BLOODY STOOL & BUMPS ATOUND HIS EAR from it worsening! Instead she questioned us “WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS BREED?” & insisted we get him neutered. She rudely shut the door on us after we expressed we would like a different veterinarian to see him & told us to go elsewhere. HER STAFF WAS NO HELP EITHER. THEY TRIED TO CHARGE US FOR A VISIT THEY KICKED US OUT OF!!!!!!! DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE!!!!!!! our first & second visit here was useless & we plan to go to someone who SHOW INTEREST IN CARING FOR ALL BREEDS!!!!!

The staff is so good with my goofy dog. They so obviously care about the pets they treat.They also let me decide what's important for certain preventative measures, with no pressure to spend money I don't have. They seem to understand that you can absolutely love your pet on a strict budget.

The staff there are all very friendly, gentle, and do not rush my dog when doing exams and procedures. It's a great place for my dog who used to be so terrified of other veterinarians that she shook and would try to hide. At this office she walks into the door with her tail wagging!

Very skilled vetrinarians, but make sure you communicate a lot and ask any questions you have because they are busy and won't go into detail about expectations, aftercare, etc. unless you ask.

I just brought in my new adopted cat, Honey, for her first new patient visit and her second round of vaccines. I was very impressed with North Mankato Animal Hospital’s dedication to COVID procedures, and their curbside pickup for my kitty was run very smoothly. Once she was inside, I communicated with Dr. Nelson from my car via my cellphone. Honey was very well taken care of, and the appointment went by super quick. The staff were fabulous at communicating what procedures, screens, vaccines, etc. she was given even though I wasn’t able to be inside. She was prescribed some medication, which I was able to take home with me after the appointment. Overall, things couldn’t have ran more smoothly. I thought the service was very reasonable, and the staff really do care for the animals. We will continue taking Honey here forever. ❤️❤️❤️

They were very professional and caring to my pup. They allowed me to sit in with him during checkups and visits, which other veterinarians have not. With my pup having separation anxiety, it always put him in a spin. But he has been very pleasant and docile in their care. He recently went in for an operation. They were very timely, and I was able to bring him home the same day. I would highly recommend them for whatever your pets needs are.

Dr. Nelson is very calm and brilliant. Not only is she adept in soothing the human's panic and concern about their sick pet, but animals are calmed by her too. She respects her client's budget and is always willing to provide estimates and be up front about costs. I trust her with any of my animal's lives. My dog Jinx was just seen for bladder stones and potential acute renal failure. Jinx is also a known biter when she's afraid, but Dr. Nelson approached first with minimal restraint and plenty of praise. Jinx didn't seem upset at all. More veterinary staff need that skill-- staying calm and building up to increased restraint as needed.

Dr. Nelson and the nursing staff was amazing when we took our cat in. He isn't the greatest at vets, but they said he did a good job. Only got a little fussy when he had to come out of the kennel to do some tests. However, they were able to give him a minor sedative and get a urine sample. We found out he has crystals in his urine and are now putting him on a new diet.We brought him from another vet that did not treat him well at all. This place was a complete difference and I would for sure recommend going here!

Dr Nelson and her staff provided my two cats with excellent veterinary care while I was attending school in Mankato. I always felt "heard" regarding any concerns I brought up, and especially appreciated their willingness to work with me to put me at ease over any questions I had. I first visited the clinic after my dog was attacked by another dog. Dr. Nelson’s care for my dog, Toffee, at such a scary time convinced me to finally move from our old vet an hour away. Since then, I’ve had great care 3 other times for a dental cleaning, another mini emergency, and a routine visit. Each time, I’ve been impressed and thankful to have found a great vet for my 14-year-old pup!

Dr. Nelson and her staff are awesome!! They are always ready to get my dog in at a moments notice and they go above and beyond to make sure she feels good at the vet. My dog used to be terrified of the vet but now she enjoys going to see Dr. Nelson! My dog isn't the best with other dogs so the staff always makes sure there is a room open to go in so that the won't have to encounter any other dogs! Would recommend to everyone!

I love this vet clinic. Dr. Nelson is so calm and thoughtful and is able to examine my cat in my presence, unlike at our previous vet clinic. It is easier for me, and less traumatic for my cats to go see Dr. Nelson. I don't know how they do it but my cats have never seen, or heard, a dog at the clinic to scare them. I know Dr. Nelson also treats dogs but, so far, we haven't seen or heard a dog in the waiting room. It isn't that I don't like dogs, I just appreciate that my cats aren't scared by them while at the vet clinic.
