I volunteer here. I appreciate how well these animals are taken care of and how often they are taken to the vet. These animals are loved until they can find their forever home. The facilities are kept clean. We appreciate all the donations made, which keep the place running.

Their a great place, helping helpless animals is virtue more of us should do. They took in 5 still nursing kittens I found under a building getting tore down without a question. Hope they find a good home

Not sure who I dealt with but after reading some other reviews, I'm guessing it was Teresa. I have never dealt with such an uncaring, belittling, rude person in my life. Fire her now!

If you go here avoid Teresa. I was greeted very rudely. I’ve never walked into a humane society and was treated so poorly by someone who is suppose to be an advocate for there animals.

We just adopted our kitten Nyla from them last week. Had a great experience. We live far so we spoke with Teresa over the phone and she immediately took her off the website so that she was only available for us which is great since we drove almost two hours to get there. Very happy with the experience and the knowledge. She has her first shot done, microchipped, and is healthy and happy. I strongly recommend this place. She has another few kittens available please give them a home.

Even though its only open one day every week for 3 hours, it was very nice to see how committed the staff were to getting their animals adopted to the right people. When I first walked in, I was nervous. (I'm not the best with new people and places.) The woman at the front desk immediately asked us what it was we needed so I replied honestly, "I'm wanting to see your kittens for a later adoption." She was skeptical of my response and didn't make it easy for me to see them, but she explained later that she is very protective of the cats and other animals in the shelter being as though some people would come in and hurt or kidnap them. With that being said, I admire her devotion to keeping the animals healthy and safe until a proper home arrives.Once the staff warmed up to me, they were showing me every cat I glanced at. Explaining their personality and how they would do alone or with a baby. It was heart warming.Keep up the good work, ladies (and maybe gents, I didn't see any men, but I'll assume there is some.)!

Wish I could leave 0 stars. Today I am having to put down my cat Sue that I adopted last fall (she is only about a year old) from Brown County. I love her so much and her time with me brought me so much happiness, but she should have never been adopted out. She was FIV+, unbeknownst to me. Looking back at the vet records that came with her at the time of adoption show she has always been very sickly. I've spent over a thousand dollars trying to nurse this kitten back to health. To me it was worth it, but how can they adopt out cats they know are sick? Makes me so mad. I am an animal lover and support and volunteer for other local shelters. I don't want to badmouth people who are in the business of helping animals, but this is unacceptable and through tears I told Sue that all of her pain wouldn't be in vain. People need to know that this shelter doesn't seem to operate the same way that every other shelter does. What makes me even madder is thinking back to a few years ago when I saw a dog on their website. Called and asked a few questions about her then scheduled a time to come meet her. Took her for a short walk around the shelter and fell in love with her. Went in to talk to Teresa about her. Finally, after I'm about to adopt this dog she says something to the effect of "oh, by the way, the vet found some cancer in her lady parts. It isn't a big deal but the cancerous growths can and might be spreading." Why would you not mention this first? Why would you lead someone to believe that it won't be a big deal to adopt a dog with cancer? Why not prepare people by letting them know up front that this dog is sick and will need costly care? I was upset but didn't think much about it until recently when the cat I adopted from them also turned out to be seriously ill. Too much of a coincidence that the only 2 encounters I have had with them have been so bad.

I found this to be a wonderful place to adopt a dog. I have adopted 3 from them and have been pleased each time. They worked with me to make a good match for my situation and needs. They we're honest and up front about each dog- health, training and personality. Each dog i have adopted was worked with and we had no potty mishaps, or personality conflicts. Each dog was well behaved and affectionate. The price was very reasonable and if needed they made a assignment with me and held the dog for me to meet and come back latter in day to adopt.I would highly recommend adopting an animal from this human society.

This place doesn't even deserve one star. Teresa is extremely rude to people looking to adopt a pet, she should not be running a 'rescue' as she does not truly care about the animals. They LIE about cat's and kittens being sick at their shelter, so don't be surprised to pay that much for the adoption fee thinking you are getting a healthy rescue kitten and come home with one that needs to go to the vet because it is so f**king sick. There are lots of other rescues around that have healthy pets and kind people. Don't bother going here to 'adopt'.

Asked for help for kittens n cats left at a place I rented they refused to help the animals or wanted a $100 per pet , if I had an extra $700'i wouldn't need their help, now my family n the animals will be homeless in 13 days, so the humane society lost animals n humans their home, don't seem so humane to me

Odd hours with no response to message. The police have duties that shouldn't involve finding a place to take care of kittens that have been found.

why have people fill out applications for adoption filled with detailed personal info and references for adoption, if you can just walk in and adopt the animal without any of that when other people have put in the effort of filling out an application and know for a fact that they put in an application before anyone else for said pet.never plan on returning here.
