We stayed here because we needed a last minute reservation somewhere that was pet friendly.Pros: Check-in was easy, the front desk staff was friendly, and location off the freeway is convenient.Cons: entering the room we noticed a putrid smell. After opening the microwave we found a MOLDY steak dinner left behind from a previous guest. It was basically a science project growing out of it. Even after tossing it the smell was overwhelming. On top of that the bathroom light fixture had wiring exposed which didn’t seem safe. Also, the bedding….you could literally see through the sheets that’s how thin they were and the cover was scratchy and smelled like a basement. It’s a bummer because this spot is great and the staff seemed great, but whoever manages it needs to take better care of it. Just by doing a few upgrades like adding a light cover over the bathroom lights, getting bedding that isn’t from 1964, and making a check list for the cleaners would make the world of difference.

Normally I would write a review to say how bad a place is. For being in a small town the hotel is okay. The owners need to pay attention and provide some tlc and love to the place. It is very out dated however the staff made up for it. The pool has been out of commission since 2020. Why wouldn’t the ownership want to take care of a place they own. It will draw more attention and a great place to stay.

I couldn't even stay here. When I was checking in, the front desk staff told me about how a guy (who he assumed was my husband) called to see if I had a reservation there and the staff confirmed to this phone stranger that I would be there. I'm not married. Had to leave asap after the staff told me that.

I stayed for a wedding for the nights of July 6th and 7th. Front desk staff were friendly but my room was not clean. The microwave and TV stand were covered in dust. I found a piece of used bar soap in the shower. There was also a bug in the sheets. I was charged for 3 nights when I only stayed 2. It took a couple weeks to get my money back. When talking on the phone to get my refund they kept insisting I stayed 3 nights even though i had the reservation in my email for 2 nights. I told the staff they could check cameras if they had them. I directly handed my keys and checked out at the front desk before 11am. $242 for 2 nights in a dirty room is absolutely unacceptable and disappointing. Tried asking one staff member on the phone for a manager to call me but never heard a response.Rooms: Rooms were dirty.

Check-in went quick and easy. Customer service was excellent. Bed was comfortable. Couldn't get tv to work. Microwave wouldn't shut. Went into our room to find dirty sheets and sink and bathroom not clean properly. Candy wrapper on ground. Eric was quick to help and put clean sheets on the bed and apologize. General manager said she would give us $25 off the room. Breakfast was okay, for a continental breakfast it was good. Eggs sausage yogurt milk juice cereal bagels toast apples oranges donuts coffee. I wasn't expecting too much after reading the reviews but we needed something close by moose Lake campground. The hallways are very clean the entryway is very visually appealing and clean the breakfast area was very clean. Our room was visually appealing

It's a room. Nothing particularly special, but seemed reasonably clean. The location is convenient with a McDonald's and subway across a small street, and a gas station very nearby as well. Quiet area, and plenty of space to walk dogs. I would honestly LOVE to see a fence put around part of that area for an off leash dog park/area. I was happy that they allowed me to bring my 3 dogs, as many hotels have restrictions of only 2 dogs per room. I would have really liked to have had a room with a king size bed and a pull out couch or roll away (my husband and I and my 11yo step daughter), but only rooms with 2 queen beds are available for people with pets. The staff was pleasant.Unfortunately I can't give 5 stars. Our room was not quite what I would want for a 5th star. The light cover in the bathroom was missing leaving exposed wiring and light bulbs. Seems sketchy hanging above the shower. Next there was an extra roll of toilet paper left behind the in-use roll, and it was stained brown. We decided to ask the front desk for a new roll of TP. Lastly the breakfast, was meger but it did fill a void. Basic stuff like cereal, toast, bagels, yogurt, milk, biscuits and gravy, and orange juice. What I really wish they would improve about this is the fruit options. There was a small basket of whole fruit to choose from, but the bananas were all pretty well brown, the only orange had a brown spot, and while it may not be the hotel's fault.... Let's face it... Red delicious apples are gross.

Our whole hockey team was booked to stay here. Young man working was very nice. The room was fine but had cobwebs which was not a deal breaker... the bugs on the mattress were. My husband asked for a new room to check it out, same thing... the young man issued a refund. As we were leaving the owner came in and was verbally attacking teams and there families, and never once just apologized for the inconvenience. Very poor customer service and bugs!

Great location, clean rooms, no odors, nice selection of breakfast, and outstanding customer service.Nearby activities: Mooselake & Sturgeon lake are great towns to visit. State Park, boating, fishing, bowling. We visited Parker's Sand Bar in Sturgeon Lake, it was so wonderful and welcoming. The food was amazing, the best restaurant / bar in the area.

Rooms are decent sized, beds are comfortable. The pool is closed and has been closed for a very long time, staff do not know if or when it will re-open. Free breakfast has excellent variety and the food is fresh. Free cable, TV's are fairly large and staff is friendlyIt's obvious this used to be an AmericInn, from reading previous reviews it looks like they lost the branding due to the pool being closed. It looks like they've been cleaning up their issues since losing the branding, other than the pool being closed everything else was fixed. I can't remember if there was working wifi.Rooms: Rooms aren't huge but aren't small either, bathrooms are just the toilet and shower with the sink and hair dryer in the room.Nearby activities: This is on the outskirts of Moose Lake, you have access to quite a few campgrounds (but why are you at a motel if you're going to a campground), various state parks and I-35 is less than a minute away. Duluth is about 40 minutes away.Safety: Rooms are interior with heavy doors and standard modern magnetic stripe card locks, front desk is staffed 24/7Walkability: Truck stop, McDonald's, subway and state prison are within walking distance.Food & drinks: Free continental breakfast with cereal, donuts, milk, coffee - your standard free hotel food setup. Food is fresh.Noteworthy details: Limited on-site truck parking available

First impression of this hotel was good and person who checked us in was friendly. When we got to room noticed that one of chairs was dirty and bedspread was dirty. The vent in bathroom was disgusting, full of dust and who knows what else. No hot water when taking a shower. Husband called front desk so we were Moved to a different room. That room was somewhat better. Again bathroom vent was disgusting. Breakfast the next day was not great. I normally don’t do reviews but would never recommend this hotel.

DO Not go here. We checked into our room the man was very nice, but then you get to the room and what a joke. The bedspread on both beds had visible stains on them all over. Lifted up the sheets and there was hair all over both of them long and short hairs. What looked like blood stains as well. I asked for new sheets which I put on myself then looked at my pillows and was appalled. There were stains and one had a big green and yellow crusty Bugatti glob. Then looked around the bathroom air vent was really filthy and then unthinkable.. There were bugs crawling on the bed. Disgusting and very unclean; I should have looked at reviews before booking because looks like things have been the same this place should not be in business.

This was a place to sleep. Disappointing service, when we arrived we were told our room was not pet friendly even though it stated it was on the website. We had to be downgraded to a room with two queen beds. In the morning we were running a few minutes behind check out time and were already getting knocks on the door and phone calls to the room only 3 minutes past 11.

STAY AWAY from this hotel! False advertising pool was not open. Front desk person was advised not to give discount due to no pool. Same on you owner of this hotel for not telling your customers of no pool until they walk in the door and no discount. We stayed here for our grandkids to play in the pool. Total disappointment! We have heard from a former worker that the pool has been closed for a year…please inform your customers poor business management. The cleaning person was awesome on Saturday morning…asking us if we needed anything…yes the pool working. Rooms were okay. Towels were dirty looking with holes in them from previous use. Free breakfast… limited items…No coffee in the breakfast area on Saturday morning…

1st room was still dirty from previous night. 2nd room was made up, but the bedspreads had many visible stains on them. The light fixtures over the beds were broken. There was a constant smell of grease in the room. I assume this was coming from the McDonalds next door. The breakfast was minimal at best. We decided to go to Tobies instead. We will NOT return to this hotel.

Once we got there, we had to spend 20 minutes trying to get the T.V to work, then find out there’s no breakfast, coffee was terrible! Then my husband went to go take a shower an found a big clump of hair in the bathtub drain! An also looked like there was seaman on the hair in there. Absolutely disgusting!! 🤬 so my husband went an told the front desk an said I want a refund and someone to clean this nasty bathroom! The front desk guy said” we’ll what do you want me to do? $20.00 refund”… after he was shown the video that my husband took of the drain.. never again! I’d rather sleep in my car then to ever step foot in American Inn ever again! Poor disinfecting! Poor cleaning! Poor service! Poor coffee! Poor employees! 🤬

You need to get your pool area up and running- one of the perks of a hotel is a pool & hot tub. Friendly staff.Nearby activities: Moose lake restaurants

Website states there is a pool, hot tub, and free breakfast. None of these were available during the stay. It took almost 25 minutes to get checked in one evening, it did not appear to be busy. A female night staff acted as if it was a inconvenience for her to check me in, and was complaining about people messing up her work area the entire time, and huffing under her breath. On another stay, a male staff was swearing numerous times during the phone conversation while trying to book a room, and appeared that he was drunk, manic, or high. The lock was broken on the exit door, so anyone could enter. The shower made a screeching sound when using. There was no microwave or fridge in the standard room. It was close to $130 a night. The room itself appeared clean, the staff were not professional at all. It felt unsafe to stay here.

There were so many issues with my group’s stay, but I can only speak for myself. I checked in a day earlier than everyone else did and I honestly felt a little uneasy from a safety and security aspect. The front desk guy was nice enough but obviously did not care much about the job as he was often found laying down or having his feet up on the desk. And wouldn’t bother sitting up if you came to the desk to enquire about anything. The company card did not go through for what ever reason and since it was late Sunday, I was unable to look into it until the following morning. The response was, “pay or get out.” This was not his decision but rather someone who he spoke to on the phone. I ended up using my own personal card until I was able to contact someone in the AM. The back door is broken and open to anyone. (HUGE liability!) The windows would not latch in my room which made it even worse. No internet but was consistently told they were working on it. This was the response from two separate staff members. It didn’t work the entire week I was there. The remote was well-used and took great finesse to turn the volume down. This was a big deal since it was set to turn on at maximum volume. The TV is an older 27” flat tv. I brought my own blankets but did appreciate the fact they have a bed bug company inspecting their beds as I noted the tags while I was checking it. The ironing board was stained and distasteful. There was splatter on the wall beside my toilet that was very questionable. There is no fridge or microwave in the room. No breakfast being served and the pool area is still under renovation. I’ve heard it’s been under renovation since the new owners bought it several years ago. Overall, it is not worth the cost they were charging and I would not stay again. Staff training and small upgrades to the room would go a long way.

No microwave, no fridge ,ice machine broke, pool is not open, and there is no breakfast at all. The guy at the front desk did gets us a small fridge from another room just to have someone take all our stuff out of it and put it on the dresser. We had the little fridge for 4 days and then they did that. I recommend staying some where else. I stay in hotels all summer long and i would rather drive a hr than ever stay there again.

No pool or hot tub in working order. Apparently has not been in working order for some time, with no intention to get it fixed either. Website and in-room brochures don't mention it. Just a sign on the front door when you arrive at the property.Noteworthy details: No working pool or hottub! When we made the reservation, it was for the pool and hottub mainly.

After making a online reservation which was very smooth and easy. Nothing else was. Check in took about 30 minutes cause the employee couldn't find my reservation she was looking in wrong computer. Then she put in wrong credit card information. Finally got room key and asked about the pool. Which is closed to further notices. Ok can live without. The next morning try to login on the Wi-Fi which was included. Went to front desk and asked about the Wi-Fi at which time was told nope we don't have none. ok at that point was little irritated, But then at 8am went to get breakfast and nothing did not bother asking. Why not? Well the general manager was aggressively confronting a customer because he was questioning about the services that are in the advertisement's and that are included with the rental of a room. LONG STORY DO NOT EVEN BOTHER WITH THIS PLACE.

Room seemed clean, and the staff was friendly... Not much else positive to say. I stay in a lot of hotels, and my expectations are low. But yikes. Broken WiFi, dated tv that didn't work, hot water ran out almost immediately, and as a first for me, the soap didn't work. As in the soap was so cheap, it wouldn't lather. It was like bathing with a wet napkin. I've never seen anything like it. Even cheap roadside motels cross off most of those boxes Generally, you can tell that no money has been reinvestes into this hotel since it was built. Stay elsewhere if you're not set on Moose Lake

Will just say, had an okay stay. The staff was friendly, wasn't worried about bed bugs or anything like that. Thought I had a mistake with the payment, I'll be the first to admit I was mistaken. But will never be staying there again and have already told several friends in the area about how rudely I was treated by the management over the phone. Kjerstia (?) Sounds like its pronounced Kirsty and I know I am misspelling it. I'm sorry, but she was nothing but confrontational and when she discovered my mistake I couldn't believe the snooty sounding remarks from the other side of the phone. On a plus side I suppose there were two employees I found extremely helpful and polite. So I would like to thank Eric and Thomas for helping us during our stay. I genuinely hope she doesn't treat her employees the way she treats her customers.

Very disappointed in this motel. Full price charged with falsely advertised amenities. Pool drained, non existent breakfast, broken ice machine, and zero internet provided to guests. Desk clerk rude when this was mentioned. Beware before booking!
