Support your local hardware store! These guys have helped me out of several last-minute jams. I'd give them 6 stars if I could.Prices can be a little higher than big box stores, but in terms of convenience , customer service, and knowledgeable staff, this place is the best. I find myself heading over when I'm mid-project and realize that I just need one or two small things to complete it. They always have several friendly people on staff that are assertive about helping you find what you need, and often willing to give you advice on your project too if you've got questions or concerns. You can be in and out of the store in minutes too. If you're in the neighborhood, I strongly recommend checking this place out.

Plumbing part advertised online "as settergrens price using an Android browser was listed as $3 more in store. It's actually false advertising to charge the higher price and you are subject to all sorts of fines and penalties if you do so. They tried to charge me the higher price and I was ready to walk and report them. Clearly it's an issue between them and ace but it's still their problem not mine and they should have charged the lower price and apologized. I didn't buy anything else on my list and not going back. A more enlarged enlightened management system would have given the salesmen they opportunity to give me $3 off. It's the only reason I went to their store because they had it. Not good. Not going back.

Model local hardware store in a great neighborhood. A little of everything thing you cannot go without. Love the character in the thoughtful signs for each aisle. We lived in the Linden Hills area from 1963 to 1976. Great memories.

I love this neighborhood hardware store! There is always someone knowledgeable to assist. Today was over the top, over and above help I've never had in all my years. Last month Jess was so patient with questions and helping me purchase my first electric snowblower. Today I went to use it for the 2nd time and couldn't get it to start. Jess answered the phone and went thru hoops to help me. Not enough room here to tell whole story, I'll send email to owner with details but sincerely an amazing experience!

Really great service. I had to fix a leaky bathtub faucet handle this past weekend and made three separate trips as I gradually figured out how to remove the ancient valve. Wade, one of seven (seven!!) employees on duty at the time found all the tools (faucet handle remover, adjustable wrench) and parts I needed (gaskets, screws, washers, etc.). And I didn't have to wait for help. Anyway, the faucet didn't leak anymore and I probably saved more than a few bucks.

I needed some covers for my air conditioner vents. Instead of ordering at Amazon I decided to use a local retailer. I was not disappointed. I walked in the door, a pleasant young man was ready to help me find what I needed, and I was out back in my car within 5 minutes.

Great neighborhood hardware store. Lots of employees, and they’re all extremely friendly and willing to help with whatever you need. Not as cheap as your big chain retailers, but for the convenience and service – this place really can’t be beat. We’ve never walked in and left without something we’ve been looking for. They offer a number of convenient service as well. We’ve rented a carpet cleaner and gotten duplicate keys made. If you’re in the neighborhood I highly recommend this place over any chain retailer.

I really like and appreciate this store. For the last 16 years I have tried to give them 90+% of my Hardware business despite Menards being more convenient to my home. However, my last two visits in the last month have been frustrating. They seem to be suffering from service and product availability like all others.

I went to the store to get a battery for a wrist watch. Although I have had staff install a battery there before, the young men just blew off the idea. They could have been more polite and helpful about getting a new battery even if they did not want to put it in. This was the first time in 50 year that I have been disappointed in service at Settergrens.

I wish I could give this place 10 stars. If this place is within 30 miles of you and you choose to go somewhere else, you have a screw loose. One of the best customer service experiences I've ever had anywhere. Wade and his team are amazing. Do yourself a favor and go here for all your household/hardware/equipment needs. Absolutely tremendous!

Helpful and knowledgeable staff! Small hardware stores where things are easy to find continue to be part of the lifeblood of any community. It's a little like a barbershop in that way.I appreciate places like this because it's possible to be in and out in 10 minutes with exactly what you need!

So I stopped into this store for the first time today as I took a different route than usual due to traffic. A staff member (not wearing a mask) asked me if I found everything. I said “I know they’re probably out of season but I’m curious if you have the little rounds for starting seeds.” The person said “No”, rolled his eyes and walked away to ask another customer if they need anything. Like… sorry?!? Next time I’ll know not to bother their staff with quick questions! *sarcasm*

I have been going here since I was very young, and Settergrens has been the most consistently well run business I've ever known. Very helpful lifetime staff, and they hire high-school age kids and have a very community oriented, family owned feel. Decades old businesses are still around for a reason, and theirs is quality service.

Such a great store and they have everything - tools, cleaning supplies, yard supplies and toys, the whole lot! They have the best staff who always say 'hello', hold the door open for you, and are very knowledgeable. And the cherry on top - free popcorn!! And in the fall they sell the most beautiful pumpkins.

I am not very knowledgeable about home maintenance but when I go here there is always someone who will not just show me what I need but take the time to explain how to repair or replace what I'm working on. And if I'm not sure of the correct size they have told me to bring it back (even if I've opened the package) if it doesn't fit. I appreciate the time and patience and if it costs a little more than some big box store it is well worth the extra attention and convenience.

Hanging a new door and needed new house numbers. They were out of the number 4 but they called the neighboring hardware store to hold it for me. I had previously been to another hardware store and they had said "we dont have it" with no offer to find one somewhere else. I will be using this hardware store more often now. Great service.

This is a great place to get your hardware needs. We had some screens re-screened and the work is top notch. I really appreciate the great service and recommendations that the staff here provide. If you are needing anything, this should be your first stop. They may not provide that service but can point you in the right direction.

I live in Woodbury and I won’t go anywhere else from now on. I had a bolt missing on my bike rack and Jess spent 20 minutes diagnosing and fixing it, always friendly and went WAY above and beyond to help me. I have been visiting this hardware store for more than 30 years. As a woman, I get the same service as any guy who walked into the place, whether I was looking for a tin snips or a can opener, a shorter bolt or a rope for my dog run. I love this place.

These guys are great. If you live in SW Minneapolis it's the only place you want to go because they know all of those houses so well. And they love pics! Take pics of your problem with your phone, head in, and they'll take the time to show you how to fix it. You'd be surprised at how much you can do yourself when you have that kind of help. It's awesome. Great store.
