Downtown Dogs has been absolutely wonderful for our dogs - we've been taking one special dog there for 10 years, and our younger dog has been going for about 4 years. We use the freeplay boarding a lot, and have also boarded our dogs overnight. DD always gives compassionate and individual care and we appreciate you so much!

Downtown Dogs is amazing in every way! Their staff really does a good job at getting to know your dog. They clean them up after a long play session and give you little tidbits on how their day went and who and what dog they befriended that day. I’ll recommend them to anyone looking for dog daycare and boarding.

My 7 yr old mix had serious illness before adoption. Also had a ACL surgery last year so I was worried about any repeat. There was some one there to watch him and his new dog friends at all times. The staff made me feel safe to leave him there. He loved it visiting.

They boast as to have been voted best doggy daycare in Mpls. If this were the case I would be very disheartened. You are overwhelmed by the smell of urine & cleaner upon entering. They have no limit as to how many dogs they take. I asked that they not put my 8lb Morkie in the main room with 50 large dogs. They did anyway. I have never witnessed any dog/dogs running about playing. There's no room if they wanted to. They all pace around & follow the attendant. Their priority seems to be maximum revenue. Not quality care.

This daycare is for very high-energy dogs with an amazing tolerance for noise and chaos. My 10-lb rescue pup, who hadn't had much socialization in his previous home, is fine with my other two dogs and does well at dog parks with other small dogs. At the DD meet and greet, he was overwhelmed - resisted being led on his leash and, according to DD, barked and bared his teeth at dogs trying to engage in "appropriate play." He was moved into a kennel for the rest of the day, came home scared and positively filthy. DD suggested that, if I bring him back, he should spend one hour playing during the day, spend the rest of the day in a kennel, and gradually increase his time in the play area as he becomes more comfortable. I'm no dog whisperer but kenneling a dog alone for hours a day and then putting him back in the same environment that made him fearful for longer and longer periods, hoping he'll learn to enjoy it without any targeted behavioral training, is bonkers. I felt so bad about how the day went, I almost cancelled the meet and greet I had scheduled the next day at another doggy daycare. I'm glad I didn't because the difference was like night and day. In contrast to DD, the reception area at the other daycare is calm and quiet. The daycare has four different size groups, including small and very small. Size matters for small dogs (if for no other reason than to avoid being inadvertently trampled underfoot). Dogs in the outdoor enclosure were playing and exploring with nary a bark to be heard. The space wasn't overcrowded with rowdy dogs. My dog trotted right back into the daycare on his leash without looking back. When I picked him up, he was happy and clean. The employees said he wasn't super playful, but he liked to sniff, observe, did not bark, and was friendly toward the other dogs. That's exactly what I was hoping for - positive, low-key interactions with other dogs to build his social skills. He's excited to go and I know he's in good hands. Not every daycare dog wants to wrestle or be surrounded by wrestling dogs all day. If DD can't accommodate dogs like mine, they should recognize that fact and suggest a different daycare, not offer to kennel dogs alone for most of the day as a solution to an untenable situation. Oh, and the other daycare hosted my dog for the meet and greet free of charge (standard for every doggy daycare I've been to prior to DD). DD charged me their highest one-day rate ($38.89) even though I couldn't drop my dog off until 10:30am and had to take time off work to accommodate the late morning appointment. A very expensive, disappointing experience.

I have brought my Golden Doodle to Downtown Dogs for daycare, boarding, and grooming. He LOVES it, and gets crazy excited when we drop him off. I have always had a great experience and pick up a tired dog from playing all day :) He also always looks great after grooming and they give him a bow tie!

Our Boxer, Bella, loves her friends at DtD, both 2 legged and 4! I know she is getting tons of love and attention and comes home a happy hound😁

I am very thankful for Downtown Dogs and all of the people who care for my pup there! I love the detailed daily notes about highlights of our sweet pup's day. Just a snapshot: our dog is terrified of thunder and fireworks, as a lot of dogs are, however I knew there was going to be a huge storm in the area, so I called just in case there was something they could do for her. I was given great detail about the old brick building that provides a measure of sound insulation, however if dogs are still bothered, they have protocols in place to turn on the fans, and if that doesn't work, they can put on music... This person knew all of this on the fly and I am thankful that they care so well for all of the dogs there, not just mine! Thank you, everyone at DD!!

By far my favorite doggy daycare in the Twin Cities. The staff is lovely - they know my dog by name and cheer when we walk through the door. I love that they have the rooms organized by energy level instead of size, and that there are options for group play AND individual play-time and boarding. Having a pit mix, I was anxious about trying to find a place to take care of my pup when I'm out of town, but I can rest soundly knowing she's in good hands at DTD.

My dog has anxiety. DTD makes every effort to work with her. They are kind and thoughtful. I wish there was one closer to the suburbs. Until then I will make the drive to DTD because I know that they will take good care of her.

Really great people! When we (my dog and I) moved away 5 years ago they wrote my dog a goodbye card. It was the sweetest things ever. But what was even better was when we moved back 1.5 years ago, as he walked through the door of downtown dogs one of the employees remembered him from years earlier! You should’ve seen the look on my dogs face, knowing he was back at a place he remembered and they remembered him. If I could give downtown dogs 10 stars I would. I do wish they emailed photos of the dogs when boarding though, maybe one day. They are the best. I recommend them to everyone I know who has a dog.

We absolutely LOVE Downtown Dogs. My dog is a sensitive, reactive rescue who requires a lot of patience and everyone at Downtown Dogs is absolutely incredible with her. She loves hanging out at daycare and staying for boarding. All the employees work with us on her separation anxiety and her reactivity, and they completely understand her personality. It feels incredible to walk in the door and have everyone immediately recognize Bailey and be excited to see her. She's allowed to completely be herself, and we know she's getting good practice with other dogs and people in a safe environment when she's there. I could not have asked for a better daycare or boarding environment.

We take our golden retriever here and she loves it. Great for short notice boarding/daycare which is amazing. Decent prices. Love the dog cams. The only reason I give 4 stars is because our golden comes home smelling like a zoo so we have to bathe her.

Our dog was well taken care of and since the workers knew he was being boarded for our wedding the next day and coming for pictures, they gave him a free bath and ensures he was picture ready. Such a great experience!!

Our dog loves it here! The webcams helped us feel super connected to her, our dog, while we were away. Our usually tentative older dog had a great time and made lots of friends! Thank you Downtown Dogs!

My dogs recently stayed for boarding. Both came back stinking of pee. One has mouth inflammation with bleeding and the other has diarrhea. Staff were friendly and kind. But I’m extremely skeptical about current cleaning practices with the construction. Given the state and health of my dogs at pickup, we won’t be back.

I've finally found a place that will work with my dog rather than just sending us scrambling for another daycare. They are so thoughtful and patient, and do a great job if you have an anxious dog like me! Willie loves his time at DTD!

Downtown Dogs is PHENOMENAL. Whether it was daycare or boarding, I have never felt like my dog was in a more loving and caring environment outside of my home. The staff are absolutely amazing. The only reason we aren’t going anymore is because we’re moving out of state, but they have made the last 5 years the best. I’m not sure if I will ever find another daycare that will top our experiences with Downtown Dogs. I highly recommend.

Dogs Day Out is exceptional! Cheerful and well thought out, it’s a nice space to spiff up our poodle. The tubs are generously spaced, with everything we needed at hand.My favorite feature is the drying room which is separate from the bathing area, keeping the bathing area quieter than other dog washing spots. The dryers are top notch and blow warm air! Our pup was much more relaxed, which allowed us to spend more time drying him.We bathe our standard poodle regularly and Dogs Day Out made it a really nice experience. We’ll return time and again.

This place is amazing! It's huge! So much room to roam.Everyone here is so great; they are all so helpful and they really get to know your dogs. We are always greeted by "Hi Opie, Hi Pearl!" They seem to know all of the dogs' personalities too.My pups are always so excited to go there and they sleep so well at night!Best dog daycare we've experienced.

I was hesitant to take my dog to a daycare as I have heard some horror stories. But, I have simply been blown away by this place! The staff is absolutely amazing! They answered all of my questions, were extremely attentive and knowledgeable and genuinely had a caring attitude. As a new client, you have to take your pup for an initial 4hr min “test flight” to make sure they do well in the environment before you can become a client. The Most amazing thing is they have webcams in all of the rooms which are accessible at any time while they are open! *Warning this can be addictive. We were able to watch remotely as they acclimated our Golden retriever to the new environment and slowly moved her to “gen pop”. She loves it there and I feel 100% at ease when she is there. And the price is very reasonable. Highly recommend.

I’ve been bringing my dog here for years and I couldn’t be happier with this place. I’ve seen it through 2 different owners, and both of them have been the gems. The employees are so friendly and happy to be around the dogs, and the dogs are beyond joyful when here. My dog comes back exhausted and full of smiles and a wagging tail. I’ve used them for boarding on vacations, and I feel confident and safe leaving my dog here. Where there’s happy employees, there’s a good business. Thanks everyone at downtown dogs!

Downtown dogs has been the absolute best thing I could have done for my young pup. She's a 9 month old lab who has non-stop energy (seriously she doesn't stop moving unless she is in her crate). The first day we brought her here she was absolutely exhausted and fell asleep for the first time outside of her crate. She is so excited to go back each day, she starts getting all giddy as soon as we pull into the parking lot. They greet her by name when we enter the door and I can check in on her online with webcams. They are also a great boarding facility, we left her with the free play option for 4 nights. She came back home stress free (which is a lot more than we can say about other boarding facilities that we have used for previous dogs) and had no anxiety about going back later in the week for day care. If you are contemplating Downtown Dogs, just do it. It's the best thing I could have done for my dog.Update: We are now regulars at Downtown Dogs and it continues to be a life saver. Although our pup has slowed down (only slightly, she's now just half nuts instead of full crazy). Every time I check on her through the web cam she is romping around and wagging her tail like a happy girl. We are so pleased with this facility!

Downtown Dogs is wonderful! The staff are so friendly, and seem genuinely happy to be working there. The space is large, and has multiple rooms for different sizes and personalities of dogs. We bring our dog about once a week to have some doggy socialization time. Her second time there (a full week after her first visit), we walked in and were greeted by name! Two weeks later, they still remembered her! It's like the doggy version of Cheers! We also love the webcam for checking up on our pup throughout the day.

Downtown Dogs is amazing. They remember our dogs every time we bring them, even after several months of not being there. The staff are all so positive and clearly like what they do. I love that you can just drop your dogs off for daycare without having to call ahead first. They've done a great job taking care of our dogs while we've gone on vacation and we've had fun watching them on the webcams. I also feel like the price is super reasonable - Downtown Dogs is awesome!!

My dog is always really tired after being here and she really enjoys it. Staff always remember my dog and are super great. One thing that I especially appreciate about downtown dogs in particular is their incredible flexibility. Other places require you to schedule daycare days months in advance, however, with downtown dogs you don't have to give advanced notice and can drop them off whenever. This is really helpful for someone like me who has an ever changing schedule.

I brought my puppy here to get him socialization with other dogs. It’s a huge facility and there are a lot of dogs here - heaven for my playful pup! What drew me there is that they have hourly daycare so I can drop the pup off while I run errands. Even better, the team there is super! They are friendly and know how to keep all the chaos under control! They get to know the dogs and the rooms are well monitored. The prices are really reasonable, and the hours especially on weekends are great. I look forward to bringing my pup back often, especially when it’s too cold to play outside.

I have been coming to Downtown Dogs since at least 2015. I love the walk-in flexibility here along with the pricing. I frequent many daycares and they all are charged by the half or full day. DT Dogs has hourly pricing which is so nice. The staff is extremely friendly and always helpful. My dog has become easily aggravated in his old age and they are always trying to accommodate to him. Love this place, best daycare I have probably ever been to. I wish I knew some of the employees names because I would love to give a few ladies a shout out on their doggy care!
