Having to visit family last minute this place was a saving grace. Not being anywhere familiar with the area, it was perfectly located 5 minutes away from anything you needed in town. It had a beautiful view of the lakefront with one of the cleanest beaches I've seen. The rooms were adorable with great water pressure and good hot water. The coffee was good and they also have a sauna on site which felt and was amazing. Definitely helped with relaxing in what was a stressful time. Being here help take off a lot of that stress. The manager Shannon was always helping us with a smile and responded whenever I had questions or I had to call and ask about anything that was nearby. She has always happy to help with any questions I had. The fire pit outside was perfectly sized it was great to have and able to be able to enjoy that sitting by the lakefront outside with such a clear view of the stars at night it was just all around a great place to be. My only regret is I didn't get to try all the amenities of this place before I had to return to work. I highly recommend to anyone who is staying in the area even if it's a little out of your way it's definitely worth going. Also I feel I should mention that the TV channels had great quality and the bunkhouse was immaculate the sauna also has a really cool dome facing the water at night or during the day so you can enjoy the sauna in privacy and still enjoy the landscape.Rooms: The rooms were incredibly clean. The beds were so so soft. They supported my back so well and I am known to have back problems. Or just trouble sleeping in general. Soon as I laid down on these beds I passed out completely. There's a fridge in microwave and several outlets a cute little desk and great view of the TV from the bed. There's great water temperature control and great pressure. Everything was just great and there's a little coffee in the rooms too I would highly recommend.

This is an awesome place!! Way better than any regular chain motel or hotel. We found Spirit Lake Resort on a whim while on the road and are very happy to have found it. The old-school motel feel has been kept alive with some light updating, but most importantly it’s clean, quiet and it’s on a lake!! The beds are super comfortable. The manager on site was the best-really an awesome find!!! This is the type of place you stay for memories.. We may have to come back again when the water is a little warmer. Don’t pass up Spirit Lake Resort! You have a small-town feel, close to everything you need with food, gas, and good people. This place will be loved by the kids with the small lake beach which offers fishing, kayaking and even a pedal boat.

A welcome find for us on our recent travel to Lake Itasca with our dog. The owner was very friendly. The lake offered a nice place to relax either on the pier, beach, or chairs provided. The location was convenient. We would stay here again.Rooms: The room was clean, with refrigerator, coffee maker, and microwave. The only thing we missed was a blow dryer. The room was cool (temp), which was welcomed with the warm weather.

Such a convenient little place to stay with younger kids! We came specifically because of the location and the amenities (for the lake) offered. The rooms were efficient and did what we needed them to. The staff was great, friendly and very helpful. Rooms were clean and great for a sleep or 2. If you want to be waited on hand and foot, and have questions every 5 seconds-- not for you. If you want to enjoy the lake and the beautiful summer weather, it's perfect.

Awesome motel!At first your thinking, oh boy, 1960s motel, not clean, bed bugs, maybe rented hourly right?Well guess what!NOT HERE! New ownership over three years ago, rooms where spotless!! The toilet 🚽 even had a seal around it that was keeping it shut after it was cleaned waiting for new customer! The rooms are cleaner then your house!!!! The rooms have A/C, Flat screen, desk, one bed, or two beds if needed.. rooms are not huge by today’s standards, but it’s perfect for what you really need!It’s a beautiful spot, it’s literally on the lake, they have things you can do in the water , there’s a tennis court, volleyball court!Very cozy awesome family owned and operated Motel! Strongly recommend. I will be staying here again.

I am on a genealogy and Water Protector trip. Our family: Hoppers and Wiiliams lived in Park Rapids in early 1900's.My room was very: clean, updated and decorated. The owners were very welcoming, is right off the lake and next to great city park! Owners have kayaks, paddle boats, fishing equip & more for you to use to play. They have their beach to swim and next door Park has all Public area to swim and recreate in many ways.Will come back when I can make time for fun and relaxing within feet of my room!

The couple that took over ownership of this resort have turned it into such a cute and comfortable place to stay. They provide free kayaks, canoe, paddleboat, and wood for the fire pit. Honestly couldn't ask for more in an up north, affordable lakeside stay. The fact that the owners are so nice and lovely to talk to is icing on the cake. We will be back soon!

From the time we arrived and checked in the owner's were the most gracious , friendly and helpful. The resort was clean and well maintained. I would give the room a A+. It was clean, the appliance 's were clean and worked. The bed was very comfortable (sleptlike a log). I would definitely recommend this motel!!! You could see that the young owner's had a lot of pride and accomplishment in what they have done.

The Hubby and I stayed here for are anniversary get away.. The room was great the owners are very nice their young but very nice they let the hubby and I have a bonfire. They have a grill people can use if you want grilled food. The hubby and I had a great time we were in the lake side room big and roomy just for the two of us. They both work hard to keep up with it.. We came up May 18 and was out on the 21. We had a great time.. We will be back again.

As a blogger, I travel a lot and it takes a lot to impress me. This is one the cleanest motels I have been to in a very long time. The brand new owners are extremely motivated to make this place homey, inviting and appealing to everyone. They are also some of the It’s right in the lake and is a beautiful setting. Price is also extremely reasonable. Will for sure be back

A hidden gem! Stayed here twice now and the hospitality is far superior to anywhere else. Jeremiah and Brianna run a peaceful resort and motel, at a rate that, with everything offered, cannot be beat.Try finding a spot in northern Minnesota that offers tranquility, a private beach and dock, paddle boat and kayaks, a pontoon, fishing gear, convenient location, the friendliest atmosphere and company, AND a clean and no frills room. Go on, try to find another.If you happen to find one that offers these amenities, you will not find it at the affordable price they offer. In a world where vacations can break the bank, these folks understand that your room doesn't have to. Beyond that, their operation and lakefront provides so many activity options, as well as information, you may want to plan LESS travelling from their resort, and plant your feet firmly in the soft sands of Spirit Lake.We will keep coming back, and will always recommend them.

The best dimond in the ruff. The lake is awesome not to crowed or many boats. It was a 100° on a Saturday. The resort has many things to do canoeing, paddle boat, kayaking, basketball, tennis, there is even a dock to park your boat. Been here twice just love this place.

The new ownership has really taken the resort to a new level. The rooms are updated with Smart TVs and great linens. There are grills you can use onsite, fishing poles at the front office, boats/pontoons for rent. The customer service is the best we’ve experienced up here and we’re looking forward to staying in one of the redone suites during our next stay with a full kitchen and new appliances. 10/10 would recommend to anyone we know.

Staying here was great! It was such an adorable little motel that felt very homey. I will definitely be returning. Not only was the room great but the service as well. Late at night my child got sick and they were quick to come in and get all the bedding changed and just smiled and told be it was no problem. Great place to stay! And great price.

Spirit Lake Motel and Resort was a great experience. The rooms were well kept, and the lake had a great view.Above all else, one of the owners took the time to help me fish off the dock. Taking the time to show me the details of fishing. Even allowing me to borrow personal tools that I did not pack on my trip.

Very nice and accommodating staff. The location was amazing. The only reason I didn't give the 5th star is the room I was in was pretty small but was fairly priced. We had 2 adults and 2 children and it worked fine, it was just cozy. I didn't get a chance to take advantage but guests can use their Kayaks and canoes for free

Stayed here and was charged for a room and we was put in a bunk house with other people and I ask for my money back since I was charged for a room and did not get a room only a bed with other people in the same room and no privacy. I was told I could not get my money back, so feel like I was taken advantage of and my money was stolen. I was charged for 4 days and stayed one night, still no refund.This place is nothing to brag about, it’s outdated and the place is very small also no one ever answers the phone. So we had to drive up to get a room and was told we could stay during the week but had to move out on the weekends. Terrible terrible place.

I was so surprised when I walked through the door! Unlike most motels the rooms were very clean and newly remodeled. The shower was huge! Any they give you two bottles of shampoo! There even is a little folder on the desk giving you ideas for things to do around town.

Dumpy motel that they call a "resort" which is laughable. Had reserved a double queen but on our arrival clerk tried to put us in a single. TV is tiny and no movie channels and only visible to one bed because they put it in a corner. No phone in the room, curtains are from Goodwill and the entrance door is not very secure...all this and they still charge an expensive rate...for just a few more dollars could stay in a really nice hotel. Won't ever return to this dump!

Great little gem of a motel. Nice beach and view. Sure it has a retro style because of it's age and small rooms, but they are spotless. Young couple just bought it and are eager to please. Will stay here again for sure.

If no stars were an option that’s what this place would get. I was charged and paid for a private room only to sleep in a bunk house. When a room came available I was not moved nor did I get any of my money back. They jack the rates through the roof because they know there was no other place to stay. I do not recommend this place and will not return.
