We are so thankful we were able to adopt a Sweetwater puppy. The entire process from notification of her litter, to the first visit and then finally, picking her up on adoption day was so easy. We received a sweet, loving puppy and had no issues with the transition to our home because Summer knows exactly what to do with these puppies. Our puppy has the sweetest disposition and we know it’s because she was so loved and taken care of by the best breeder. Our vet also commented that he had never seen as many exams on a puppy as were done on our dog. He was so impressed that Summer had the eye specialist results, as well as all the appropriate exams/shots before we picked her up! Everyone comments on how thick and perfect her coat is...they all assume she was recently groomed, but all because of her great genes! Summer is an ethical breeder who is truly trying to keep the best Shih Tzu traits in her dogs.Sweetwater also boarded our puppy when we were on vacation for two weeks, and it was so worth the drive back to Mayer because our puppy didn’t even look back when we dropped her off! She loved being back home with Summer and her cousins!When people ask us where we adopted her from, we very proudly tell them: Sweetwater Shih Tzu....and that they won’t be disappointed if they get their own puppy from Summer, too!

I can’t recommend Sweetwater Shih Tzu highly enough. If you are looking for a knowledgeable, ethical, and friendly breeder of healthy, adorable, and well-confirmed Shih Tzu puppies, you simply can’t do better. We bought our two females almost six years ago and they have been the delight of our lives ever since. We were experienced with the breed because we had owned a male Shih Tzu from another breeder for fourteen and a half years. We loved our little male, but he had a number of small problems that are sometimes evident in the breed. I am thrilled that our Sweetwater Shih Tzu females don’t display any of those issues and are calm, happy, and well-socialized. If you are reading this review, then great happiness is in you immediate future because nothing brings a smile like a Sweetwater Shih Tzu puppy. Truly!

Sweetwater Shih Tzu in Mayer, MN is absolutely the most wonderful (& knowledgeable) Shih Tzu breeder around - our family has always had a dog(s) included in our family, along with raising 3 kids and now 9 grandkids visit us. Over the course of 43 yrs...a little over 3 yrs ago I was connected with Sweetwater Shih Tzu --- let me just say, we now have Bella (who is 3 yrs old) and our Coco (who recently turned 1 yrs old). Both were bred, initially raised and both were in the extended care program - TODAY we have 2 of the most awesomest puppies, that give us so much joy and love. Wherever we go - they are at my side, and extremely well behaved. Bella and Coco are the best of friends -- this was not by chance -- it was because the breeders at Sweetwater Shih Tzu know the Shih Tzu breed. Sweetwater is always available for a question you may have; they help educate you on your puppy (whether you have a question about food or a vaccination); the pups come "already being socialized" (and that is so important); you are kept informed of your puppy's growth and developing personality -- Sweetwater Shih Tzu gets a thumbs up, A++ rating, and definitely 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆ ... the waiting period is definitely worth it, if a puppy is not available exactly when you want it. P.S. -- my vet and groomer both comment on what great dogs I have.

I got my sweet Minnie from Sweetwater Shih Tzu and could not be happier! Minnie was very socialized, full of love and such great company. Sweetwater Shih Tzu puppies had been on my radar for my next shih tzu pup because it seems like all of the loveliest, healthiest and best socialized pups I have seen in practice as a veterinarian have come from there. Our shih tzu addition has been just as adorable as expected, as well as cuddly, sassy, and he wants to be friends with any creature he meets. He has brought so much joy to our family already.

This spring we added a new member of our home from Sweetwater. McQueen (as in Steve). He is a devil puppy, adorable joke'ster, love muffin. He hasn't met a human he doesn't love. He's funny, and sweet and we quite simply adore him.My vet told me she has never seen such a breed perfect puppy. And after the devastation of losing our beloved Clifford last spring, Mac is a perfect addition to our home. I can't thank you enough for our little ginger snap nor speak more highly of what you do.

I knew I wanted a Shih Tzu for my first dog because they don’t shed, they are mild-mannered, and they’re cute as can be. A google search brought me to Sweetwater and I brought my little Clancy home 3 years ago. In those three years it has taken all my strength not to add more Sweetwater puppies to our family!We did the extended training which was very useful because Clancy learned to use potty pads. This was very helpful the first year as both Clancy and I learned the ropes!I would love little Clancy no matter what because he is sweet, snuggly and good-natured. But it should be noted that he gets compliments on his looks every day when we go on walks. He has gorgeous markings and a silky soft coat. He is clearly a high-quality pooch. It is a family business and the owner’s sister is a vet. When we transferred his care to a vet closer to our home, he was impressed with Clancy’s care.I have a very well-behaved dog and he didn’t just get that way from me. It was very clear that he was loved and well taken care of from day 1. I highly recommend everyone enrich their lives with a Sweetwater pup!
