LAR is an amazing shelter, completely run by volunteers. They are so compassionate and patient with the cats & dogs that are brought to them from all walks of life, needing a huge range of care and attention. I trust LAR fully and have adopted 2 wonderful pets from them over the past three years.

I love volunteering there! Have done so since 2013. Started with cleaning cat room, then fostering over 13 dogs in four years, now on their Marketing Committee. Rescued pets are the best!

We adopted Snowflake about a month ago. She is 5 and a half years old, absolutely a sweetheart, and our 13 year old tabby, Gracie, is warming up to her. Loved the obvious care and compassion shown by all the volunteers at LaCrescent Animal Shelter. Thank you for rescuing and taking such good care of our beautiful Snowy. Julie Thompson Hakes

They're so caring at this shelter. We took a dumped off cat to the shelter after we caught him so he wouldn't freeze or starve. Hope to adopt it once they help the poor thing, so they gave me their contact info to follow up. All volunteer and donation run so please support this wonderful shelter.

We recently lost our 11 year old cat to kidney failure and have begun the process of looking for some new animal companions for our family. La Crescent Animal Rescue was the first place we went. They have many kittens to choose from and are very friendly and professional and entirely volunteer. I would recommend going through the process of adoption with them if you are serious about being a cat owner.

This animal rescue is truly a great place because they focus on more than sheltering; they provide medical assistance to animals in need. I have not adopted from here (yet), but I would volunteer regularly (before covid), and my boyfriend fostered some cats. The people here have been wonderful with me and patient, and they always bend over backwards to make appointments work. It is a place that genuinely loves animals, and seeks out the best home for them.

The staff have been insightful about current pets, recommended food/treats, and friendly and prompt in communications. The adoption process was thorough and quick. We are beyond happy with our new addition. Thank you La Crescent Animal Rescue and volunteers!

Everyone who works at this shelter is beyond nice/helpful and the animals are their number one priority, which is how it should be. I think it’s awesome that they try to get their dogs to foster homes to provide them with the best environment. Overall it is a wonderful place to find your next best friend!

This place was closed when I got here between normal business hours. They're only open once a few hours during the week and just a few hours on Saturday. They're no longer taking anymore cats since they've reached maximum capacity

Have found stray dogs, cats and kittens near area railroad tracks in my railroad line of work and the volunteer staff at La Crescent Animal Rescue have been incredible. To have such a wonderful place in the area is extremely important. No doubt many animals have been rescued and saved as a result of the efforts and selflessness of the LAR volunteers. Thank you for all you do.

Modern and clean. That makes me feel great about donating. Only 4 starts because from what I understand, but am not for sure, and their policy could have changed, but....I've been told it is a kill shelter. Makes me cry thinking about critters not having a home. Please find room for one! You need a pet just as much as these critters need a home. Trust me!!!

I've not been there yet, but it looks GREAT. As I am looking for a new wonderful dog, I will get there as soon as I can. From the look of the rescue and the dogs they showed, I am hoping to come home with one of them!

Went to see what dogs they had, to be "greeted" by a lady who snapped out. That none of the dogs are kept there, they are all fostered out and you must call ahead of time. None of that was on the website. We dicided to at least check out the kitten/cats. I enjoyed the no cage part but 1 cat apparently was NOT nice and scratched and bit me and my 2yr old. We asked to go into the area with the kittens and the lady said no because my 2yr old may hurt them. I informed her he would not hurt them and she just shook her head and left.. Ok.. Adopting a kitten/cat? Get ready to jump threw flaming hoops.. No thanks we went back to the Coulee.

A terrific place to go if you are looking to find a new pet. This is an all-volunteer shelter, and the volunteers are so dedicated and helpful. It is also a no-kill shelter. Highly recommended!
