This store is an ideal example of a local aquatic store. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and the owners were super kind and personable. They've got more variety of plants, fish, and other stock than I've seen at any large chain pet store, and I mean that wholeheartedly. From small neon tetras to adult plecos, African Dwarf frogs to eels, snails to shrimp, freshwater to reef, even reptiles and tarantulas, it's truly like a library of creatures and plants you can get lost in. It's more expensive than bigger chain stores, but to someone who values ethical practices and small businesses, the extra price is so worth it. Even if you're not an expert, still a great place for the aquarium and reptile enthusiast.

I shop here regularly now because Shawn and Rob are just great as so many other reviewers have said. The store has grown as the business has thrived. It is truly awesome to work with fellow hobbyists when investing in my aquariums. They know their stuff and care about our success caring for our fish, plants and other critters.You should check out the store. I know they will be happy to meet you and learn about the goals you have for your aquariums and reptile stuff too.

Shawn and his shop are awesome! He is super knowledgeable, friendly, and spent lots of time answering my questions and helping me pick a beautiful pair of Apistogramma Cacatuoides for my tank! He's got tons of rare, unique fish, including several that are brand new to the hobby and I'd never heard of before. He's passionate about the hobby and about helping people select the best possible fish for their particular aquarium. Highly recommend!

The owners are awesome and they have a unique selection of Fish and other animals. If they don’t have something In stock, the owner is more than willing to try and get It in stock for you! Just talk to him he’s very friendly. You definitely need to check this place out.

The first thing you notice walking into the shop is that the shop-keeper is right there welcoming you in and asking if he can help you. The trick is that there are two of them and they are both incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, arms deep in the tanks (so to speak) and *want* to chat with you about any kind if aquarium *anything*!Of course they have fish and plants. I was there for Mystery snails and happily found gold, white, blue and brown with a white foot in addition to brown with a brown foot. But! They also have a bearded dragon, a corn snake, other random things my Service Dog was afraid of so I did not explore.But when i say they have fish, my first thought was...they don't have very many. But i was wrong. The deception is that you feel an openness in the store and see some empty tanks. But as you look at full tank after full tank, you see fresh water fish in small and large...guppies, goldfish, rainbow fish, catfish types, and more exotic. And salt water fish...in tank after tank. The beautiful fish, colors, sizes, varieties!Whatever you want that they do not have, they will order in for you. No one knows how long it can take depending on where the fish come from...the geopolitical world makes some trade impossible so new routes are untested. So, why did they lose one star?I simply wish the tanks looked better. I believe all the fish to be healthy. I think the tanks were all mostly bare and in some cases stained. Maybe the fish friends could use a little bit of backing on the aquarium or decorations/plants in it? There is just something missing. But talk to the owners and you know they care about you and for their fish friends!!

Probably one of the best aquarium stores I’ve have ever been into. It isn’t dark and drab and tanks were full of a great variety of fish. They have some reptiles, amphibians, arachnids, and hermit crabs as well.Staff was helpful and extremely knowledgeable. My son and I are looking forward to our next trip in.

A bit of a long drive for me, but well worth it. The guy was very knowledgeable and nice. Good stock of fish, shrimp, and other aquarium necessities. I'll definitely be back!

Great place for all your fish , reptile and frog needs. Very knowledgeable staff. Helped me out of a big mess I got myself into with all the advice and help even when I hadn’t gotten my fish from him. Will go nowhere else from now on. This place is awesome you can get reptiles and fish and you can get starter fish tanks if you are new to owning a reptile or fish 🐠🐟 and it is set up rilly nice and all of the tanks are beautiful 😍 it is so nice there and they have tank wold and bata fish and the employees are super nice and they can tell you everything about what you need to wear things are so ya I recommend the store 😃😄 and the prices are super reasonable.

Great little fish shop. Has a variety of fish and decor for aquariums. Also have a few lizards. Would recommend if you are in the hastings area. Check it out!

We stopped in today and were so impressed with this store! Great variety of fish, plants and other tank-dwelling friends. They even let my daughter hold a tiny tortoise when I mentioned they were her favorite. Very kind & helpful staff and all tanks were clean and well-maintained.

It’s a great store. They have a huge selection of freshwater fish and a surprisingly large selection of salt water for a small shop. The service was amazing, they answered every question and were super helpful. They’re super friendly people and have really good prices. They also have a pretty good selection of reptile supplies ranging from tank set up and up keep to live reptiles. Overall amazing place!

Went in with a vague knowledge of what I'm looking for, and got a grand tour of every fish option and how they interact with each other for a new tank. What substrates to use, plants, wood features, and more. Genuinely helpful and informative. Cannot recommend them enough both for the options and care!

Cool store with unique fish and knowledgeable staff. However the store had a number of half empty tanks that looked awful, many fish were emaciated and in general the shop was quite messy. This shop looks to have a lot of potential. Better maintenance, feeding schedule and a good cull would do a lot to make this a destination store.

Pure fish works is one of the greatest fish places I have ever been to. If you ever want to buy a fish don’t waste your time at a pet smart. Everyone here genuinely knows what they are talking about and I have come here twice now. They are the NICEST people I have ever talked to. Like I’m not kidding they are so nice. I’m only going to this place for all of my fish needs now. If you ever have questions about fish or want to start owning fancy goldfish GO TO THIS STORE. It is 100 percent worth it. 5 stars for sure

Very nice store, fish are very healthy, not sterile. I love his plants as well. I got to know the owner a bit a was happy to hear his very strict quarantine and medications that he uses on fish he imports. He takes proper time to treat and quarantine everything, which I have found is something that is rarely done appropriately in this business. I breed fish, he’s given me lots of helpful advice. He’s bred fish for years in the past and has quite a bit of knowledge. His attention to detail shows in his heathy stock that he sells. On my first visit he had something I wanted that wasn’t up front, it was in back, so if you don’t see something on the floor, never hurts toask. I like that he is a family man, his kids work in the shop as well. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication👍🏻🤠🎃

Hastings doesn’t have much going on for fish. But pure fish works is honestly one of my favorite stores! There fish are always good and I’ve never seen some some of the types of catfish he has in stock. The owner has even got fish just for me. The water in his store is always clean and his plants are greats! I wish there was an extra star I could give that man! Thanks

I am new to saltwater. There is a learning curve but Rob and Shawn at Pure Fish Works have been fantastic. Made the trip out to check out the stock at Pure Fish Works, totally worth it. Even if we hadn't found some to take home, the personability, knowledge and attentiveness was worth it. We ended up taking home quite a few things, live plants & fish. Very happy with our loot. Looking forward to making the trip to happy hour (first Tues of the month BOGO)on another date in the future. You won't be disappointed in supporting this small business!

Echo what others said here, the owner is a super nice guy and helped answer a few questions on my shrimp tank. Also listening/overhearing some of his other conversations you can tell he really knows his stuff.Prices for plants/snails we're super reasonable and cheaper than other LFS in the area.He's got a lot of uncommon fish as well which was super cool to see!We will definitely be back with my daughter and hope to use you guys to stock out next (6th!) Tank.
