The name does not lie. These really are the world’s best donuts. With one caveat- you have to get them in the morning when they’re fresh. When they’re fresh, the outermost layer on the old fashioned cake donut is crisp, and the inside is soft and moist. They have perfected the art of the cake donut. The flavor is amazing. Whatever blend of spices they use is perfection.

Excellent service and a variety of donuts to choose from. The prices aren't bad at all as well, very well priced for the donuts. Every time we're in Grand Marais, this is our stop.The donuts are great in quality. Definitely very sugary but expected. Donuts were soft to the bite and nearly melts in your mouth. There isn't seating outside but enjoying the donut and Grand Marais' scenery is very nice.This spot is about 2 blocks away from the main parking lot. Overall, worth trying if you're a donut enthusiast!

Delicious! We showed up at 8 am and ordered 12. We got cinnamon, glazed, powdered, and chocolate covered. It was just under $18 for the dozen. They were still warm. I was told the coconut one was the best but it didn’t match with the dozen so I skipped it. The ones we ordered were really great even the next day! There was a little line at 8 am but it went fast. They don’t have indoor seating and are closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I really loved the dog treat offering in the machine out front.

Nostalgic, fun, and yummy adventure to World’s Best Donuts. I’m so glad we made the drive! The classic donuts were the best; my favorite were the very fresh cinnamon and sugar cake donuts. We rounded out our Minnesota North Shore adventure with a hike at Tettegouche State Park and a Lake Superior shore picnic at the Split Rock Lighthouse State Park. ❤️

Definitely NOT the world's best tasting donuts. We purchased several kinds and they were pretty bland. Took one bite of a Skizzle which had way too much sugar on it and not much flavor. I personally also had a glazed donut and that was okay. We bought a bunch to eat later on our trip and they don't last long. Tried one a few days later and I had to spit it out it tasted so bad.

I don’t even like cake donuts! The maple bacon is epic as well. Truly the best. Please don’t go to Grand Marais without stocking up! Pro tip: the online ordering is a lifesaver for those long summer lines.

My Scouts love to stop at World’s Best Donuts when we’re in Grand Marais. They were very accommodating of our large group. We used the outdoor order window and they filled the individuals orders quickly and we were able to pay after they all had ordered.If you love donuts, you need to stop here.

They really have amazing cake donuts. They are crunchy, yet soft, and the flavor is just right. A dozen are $17.99 and worth it. They are hard to stop eating. The line moves quick even though it always appears long whenever I drive by. Donuts came out warm.

If you're in the mood for a sweet treat this is a must. Great variety and well priced! Got two dozen just to make sure we got to try them all. You can taste the freshness, however, I would have liked for the doughnuts to be warm.

They really lived up to the name! Best cake donuts I’ve had! Slight crisp to the outer layer and the cake literally melts in your mouth. Also don’t miss out on the turnovers. The flakey crust is excellent and definitely another pastry to add to your order! Definitely recommend grabbing these while in Grand Marais!

Superb donuts in Grand Marais! Probably best to get there early as the line gets a little lengthy. It might be a little misleading but there are 2 lines, one going inside and one along the side of the building outside. Either works. Highly recommend the normal glazed donuts, chocolate cake donut with coconut flakes, and their bacon long johns!

They are!!! These donuts were amazing!! They were even great the next day! All the hype is true and BONUS! if you enjoy their hot goodness on the beach as the sun is coming up….. Definitely worth the wait - but you don’t have to - just order on line the night before and then pick them up at the designated time at a special window up front. Imagine!! You get to walk right all those people waiting in line and go right to the front. It’s like FAST PASS for donuts. ;-)

We eat A LOT of donuts and are hard to impress by now, but there was something special about whatever kind of oil they fry in. Very tasty. Tons of options. My daughter was thrilled at the monster donut for Halloween and actually ate more than the frosting. Good coffee too, the flavored went great with the donuts. Great location to walk it off after.

We ordered online the night before and scheduled our time slot for pick up and was able to skip a very long line. So glad we did this. My partner was smiling and so happy because I had the foresight to order ahead since he loathes waiting in lines.We ordered- an unfilled maple long John $1.75, a filled vanilla long John $1.79, plain cake donut $1.39, cinnamon sugar cake donut $1.39 and a skizzle (which we shared since because it’s so large) for $2.50.Do I recommend this place? Yes! But would I wait in line for an hour? Nah. Trust me when I say to order ahead online. The website is super easy to navigate. You just need to place an order before midnight- no same day orders.

Literally the BEST cake donuts in the world. Better then the homemade ones my grandma makes and that's saying something! 😄 We always stop here when we're visiting the North Shore. Pick up donuts and coffee and head out to the lighthouse! Or grab some to take back to camp for the best camp breakfast ever. Can't go wrong 😁

Great donut shop. Super fast line even when it's out the door. Very friendly employees. Bismarck donuts were ok. Roly Poly with croissant dough and raspberry filling was amazing!!! Highly recommend that if you like croissants. Delicious!

We made this one of our destinations! A little place that always pulls us back to it even from 300 miles away! They do make the Worlds best doughnuts! You can enjoy quaint little shops and a walk out to the lighthouse. Would strongly recommend but get there early or the line to get your coffee and doughnuts will be long!

As a donut lover, I was very excited to stop here during a trip to the north shore. While I don't know if I'd say they're the world's best donuts, they're really, really good. Be sure to order a skizzle, which was far and away my favorite item I had. The other cake donuts are also tasty, but I keep thinking about the skizzle even after visiting. As other reviews note, don't be intimidated by the line as it moves fast. Overall, this is a must-stop if in Grand Marais. Some of the best donuts in Minnesota!

Little shop right next to Artists Point in Grand Marais. Get a donut to go and eat along Artists point. They have basic coffees, not lattes though. The store is walk up and there is often a line but don't be intimidated because it goes fast. They are famous for their cake donuts but also have other treats like the Bavarian filled long johns. Great spot!

Great donuts and muffins. You can go inside, order from the window, or pre-order. The coffee was nothing special and the milk tasted a bit stale but they both got the job done.

I highly recommend the skizzle it was amazing!!! This was our first time going here so we didn't know that the bakery is closed Tues & Wed. We were kind of bummed as we were only in town Tues, but we had seen a sign about online ordering. Knowing we would be heading home from up north Thurs we placed an online order for us to pick up on the way through. Ordering was easy and we were able to schedule our pickup time. When we got there everything was hot and ready. It was so nice to be able to skip the line and eat right away. Pro tip for online ordering you need to place the order the day before by midnight, no same day online ordering. Happy donut eaters await!!

Fresh Hot Donut!! If you have never experienced a fresh hot cake donut, you are missing out. Pure YUM. It's 7:30am on a weekday, there is a line forming both at the window and out the door, the smell coming out the door is sweet and warm. You can't wait to get inside and pick your morning treat. I enjoyed a glazed, a cake and a bacon maple donut. All were a little bite of heaven.

Lives up to its name! We were so bummed they were out of the raised donuts when we visited (because neither of us typically like cake donuts) but we decided to try a cinnamon sugar cake donut and were both impressed!! The Skizzles were what really blew us away. They’re huge but we split one and it was so delicious we went back for 2 more. Definitely a must when in Grand Marais.
