Stayed in cabin 4, the week before Memorial Day. This has to be the cleanest cabin I have ever stayed in. Cabin was not large, but had two bedrooms and a kitchenette. Great shower. Heat works well. If you are looking for an older, charming cabin, book here. I have stayed in G.M. about a dozen times. I would definitely stay here again. Note- For an interesting, not too difficult, hike, take the Lake Trail.

Traveling to Grand Marais, I needed a place to stay that was pet friendly and this place was perfect! Right on the main road into downtown, and easy walk in the mornings to coffee and breakfast or shopping - literally anything. I stayed in the motel side but would 100% be back to try a cabin. Affordable and clean, the neighboring motel guests were friendly with me during passing. Overall great spot to stay when traveling.Nearby activities: Downtown Grand Marais, Mini Golf is close by, beach area to watch the boats in the harbor.Walkability: Downtown Grand Marais, pathed trails to bike/walk.

WOW! How did I not know about this place before? I have been traveling to the north shore most of my life and somehow missed that this is a pet-friendly lodging option!The service was outstanding, my cabin was perfectly sized and included a stove, microwave, coffee maker and small fridge.Walking distance to downtown Grand Marais was an added bonus. I'll be checking my calendar to book a longer stay soon!Nearby activities: Hiking, cycling, mini-golf, shopping, dining and more.Walkability: Walking distance to downtown and a great paved trail for biking also nearby.

We were very lucky there was a cancellation, as we booked at the last minute. We stayed in one of the cabins. It was very clean with mini fridge, coffee pot, microwave …very cozy and the price can't be beat. my only issue was the bed~ I think could use an update!otherwise, a great place to stay

Good space. They provided fans. Parking is a little tricky if you're bringing multiple cars for one cabin. Great location close to a variety of entertainment.Walkability: Very close to downtown.

We were very lucky that there was a cancellation and Jesse called to let us know about it! We stayed in one of the motel rooms and it was very clean with very comfortable beds! For our stay, it had all we needed; mini fridge, coffee pot, microwave and toaster. Perhaps we got lucky, but it was extremely quiet in the evenings which was surprising with others close by.I am assuming Jesse is the owner, she is who we had all contact with and she could not have been nicer!!Location is also great as it is close enough to walk into town!

We had a great stay in Jim! I called multiple times leading up to our stay. My calls were always promptly returned. The lady that I talked to was always pleasant and helpful. Our cabin was very clean and comfortable. It had everything that we needed. We would definitely stay again.

Loved our stay here!!! It was a last minute decision - we were tenting it but it started to pour and was to rain for 24+ hours! SO GLAD THEY HAD A ROOM FOR US!!!!! We had our dog with us and they didn't bat an eye. Small extra charge for a pet bit we didn't care. VERY REASONABLE and cute older style cabin feel. We were comfy and dry = priceless!!! Would DEFINITELY return here! =)

Very clean and neat cabin. Easy to book and very reasonably priced. The only thing was the cabin had a very musty smell and I was concerned it might be mold. I got a headache while there for the one night due to the smell. The windows were open when I arrived and I had to shut them due to the cold and safety reasons. Would like to stay again, but I would have to check out the cabin first for the smell.

We stayed in cabin number 4 and it was nice but very tiny. I LOVE that they allow pets! We were right by some woods that I walked my dogs through and they loved it. The only things that bothered us a bit was a sewer odor coming from the bathroom and when I went to talk to her at the front desk she was out on an errand. Not a big deal at all!

The motel room we stayed in was very small and could use some updates but was OK for a little weekend getaway. Person next to us had a dog that barked a lot. Friendly staff. Very nice location.

One of our favorite places to stay up north. Convenient to grand marais. Cabins are quaint and really give you that up north feel. Check in has always been very friendly, and they take care of their cabins and property. Its a perfect up Nord getaway!

Great little place! We had cabin 10, which is the original house. Old, cute and very clean. Its hard to beat the rate for a 3 bedroom cabin when you pay as a junky hotel room costs. We will be back for sure.

So I’ve stayed at Trailside 4 different times in the last 10 or so years. Always been a great experience. This last time, it was a little less than great. First of all, it took days and 4+ instances of leaving voicemails at the front desk to get ahold of anyone to book. We were so close to having no place to stay because no one would get back to us. Then, when we did arrive for our stay, the office was locked and the sign said “be back at 6:40”. It was 7:15. So we had to wait around to check in. Now keep in mind, we stayed here during COVID- there was zero hand soap in the cabin. We had to go back to the front desk to ask for it and the employee/owner/etc. had to literally dig around to find us a bottle. That did NOT make me feel confident or comfortable in their COVID cleaning protocols. I also want to note that the guy at the front desk helping us did not wear a mask. It’s one thing to be a customer not wearing a mask but I think it’s pretty easy and respectful to be an owner of a business (especially a hospitality business) to wear a mask to protect customers. It just all around made me feel uneasy.

I stayed here a few years ago in one of the smaller cabins. Absolutely loved the stay and the location. I will note that the primary reason I can't give 5 stars, is that during more recent attempts to contact and book a stay, I got no response from them. More than a month has gone by without response.

It is a beautiful place where you get your own cabin. Perfectly located off of 61, easy to find, easy to get to where you are going. The cabins are very clean, have hot water showers, fridges, and even a little oven. Perfect place to stay!

The cabin was clean but very small. Not a lot of room to shower or do other business in it. Owners never came around to see how things were. I'm thinking we we won't be at that resort again

Cleanliness was good. But the old, musty smell of the cabin was not welcome. Must be the carpet, maybe the walls. But it stays with you..on your clothes, etc.Price too high.

Clean rooms very affordable pretty quiet for so close to the highway. The beds were comfortable, fridge microwave toaster and coffee maker in room, tv had a nice selection would definitely stay here again

A last minute reservation was no problem. Run by a family with great little children. Cable television and complete kitchen in some units. Small bedroom but big bed and spacious living room. Parking right at the front door!
