We were fortunate to find a table inside The Fisherman's Daughter to enjoy a late weekday lunch. The fish & chips (with white fish) were tasty. My husband had the white fish but substituted the cheese curds for $4 more and really enjoyed them. My chicken fingers & chips were okay, the chicken being a little over-cooked to my liking. A friend enjoyed her white fish tacos. The restaurant was quaint and clean, with gifts available for purchase. Would eat here again the next time I'm in the area.

Got a quick order of fish and chips for take out a few days ago. I chose the whitefish fresh from Lake Superior. The flavor and texture of the fried fish was very good! It was perfectly moist in the center, crispy on the outside and well seasoned! The coleslaw was pretty bland but not what I bought it for anyway so I didn’t mind. The fries were great as well! Service was friendly and prompt. Looking forward to coming back again sometime!

We saw online that the Fisherman's daughter was most famous for its amazing fish and chips, and man was amazing an understatement! My husband and I split an order as a late lunch and both of us were blown away by the quality of not only the fish but the fries! We will definitely be stopping by again for an amazing lunch tomorrow!!Dietary restrictions: Offered gluten free options!

The perfect spot for fish n chips if you're in Grand Marais. It's a market/walk-up to order restaurant. Plenty of smoked salmon & steelhead by the lbs, fresh lake Superior fish, chowder, and to-go salads with smoked fish. The restaurant portion has plenty of tasty fried goods. We ordered at the counter and found a patio spot looking out on Superior. They brought the food out within 10 minutes and we enjoyed a bent paddle beer while we waited. My girlfriend ordered the whitefish and fries and I ordered the same w/ walleye. The walleye lunch was everything you could ask for. Nicely fried crispy fish and chips (or tots if you want), sliced pickle, tartar sauce, and a lemon wedge to go with the perfect view.Super fresh & tasty while not breaking the bank. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great lunch in Grand Marais.

Medicocre (at best) food and overpriced. The back patio was nice and they allow dogs out there, so… we would return based on that. :) The staff was very friendly. We had the fried herring platter and the fish tacos. The fried herring was decent - slightly dry, but edible. The fish was very thin, maybe overcooked or maybe that’s just the fish. But, not terrible. The fish tacos were drenched in slaw and sauce. It was hard to even discern that the slaw and sauce were two separate things. I ended up scraping all of that off and just eating the fish. If I’d known how they were served I would have ordered the sauce and slaw on the side or just ordered something different.

This is my kind of restaurant! No frills, just awesome, fresh fish. Order at the counter, pick out a beer or beverage of choice, and then wait for your food. It won’t take long. Our fish was crispy and delicious.I even went back to my childhood by covering my fries with salt and vinegar. YUM!Probably the best value you’ll get on the north shore for fresh fish dinner.

Great service! Be sure to go inside because there are so many more options for food than what is on the menu. The fish is very lightly breaded, which is perfect. Great location. Got outside options of seating, you either can eati in there front facing the road or the back overlooking all the fishing nets, which I actually really enjoyed. Dog friendly patio!Parking: Street parking.Kid-friendliness: Open and comfortable setting for children, although food options are a bit limited for children girly selections.

The food was great. Not greasy as one might expect from deep-fried foods.Big problem though. Though they say they can accommodate a gluten free request, DON’T BELIEVE IT. Their “gluten free” fried items are fried in the same oil as their normally breaded items. Thus they are NOT gluten free.Dietary restrictions: They fry their “gluten free” items in the same oil as their normal breading items. So fried items at least are far from gluten free.

Neat little fish shop in Grand Marais. Would have loved to eat inside or on the a patio, but it was cold out and they don't allow dogs inside so we took our order to go. Had the bacon/maple cheese curds which were so good and the fish tacos. Would go back if ever in the area again.

We ate a late lunch at The Fisherman’s Daughter located at 418 MN-61, Grand Marais, MN 55604 and it was fantastic! The atmosphere is amazing with the restaurant and deck situated overlooking Lake Superior! For our appetizer we devoured a basket of cheese curds, which we all loved. We also tried a bowl of the soup of the day, which was Lake Trout Chowder and it was yummy! For our entrees we shared two Fish and Chips Baskets with delicately breaded walleye fingers in both baskets and fries in one basket and tater tots in the second basket. The walleye fingers we’re out of this world delicious!!! The coleslaw was tasty, and the fries and tater tots were good, but not great. To drink we tried a can Nixie organically flavored watermelon mint sparkling water and a can of Duluth Cider Gitch Semi-sweet cider. We liked them both so much, we looked them up online to see where we could purchase a case of each. They also sell fresh caught fish such as Salmon, Lake Trout, and White fish, plus smoked Salmon, Lake Trout, and White Fish. They also have a nice gift shop with T-shirts and all sorts of Lake Superior memorabilia. We recommend going between 2 pm and 4pm in order to avoid the rush, as this place is superrrrrr popular!

Extremely speedy service and well worth the price. 16$ was the median price and I felt it was great. The service was very fast though we were there at 2pm. The fries were very crispy and amazing. Friendly atmosphere and a view of the lake if you eat out in the back.Kid-friendliness: Smaller portions if you want a little bite for kids

We were driving up the North Shore today. I found this place on Yelp and thought it would be a good place to stop for lunch.Bonus: if you check in on Yelp, you get a free cup of soup!We got two fish baskets. One with Superior Whitefish and battered fries and one with Superior Herring and cheese curds. For our soups we got the lobster bisque and the smoked trout chowder.I liked both of the fish baskets. I might have preferred the Herring slightly, but they tasted quite similar. The fries were great as were there cheese curds. Generous portions on the sides as well. Both of the soups were pretty good. I think I had a slight preference for the lobster bisque. This is a great stop for some fresh fish and chips!

We had British style fish and chips and smoked salmon chowder. The food was delicious, and we enjoyed the view overlooking the lake and the North House Folk School. They also have a shop selling fresh and smoked fish and some crafts.

By far the best place we've eaten at within the area. We had take out and brought our food back to the hotel, which was probably a good thing because I wouldn't shut up about how good the crab fries are. They are my new favorite food. We ordered and browsed the store while we waited, and it's a good thing the food came quickly because I couldn't stop finding things to buy. Musts: crab fries, cheesecake with lingonberries on top (drool), walleye if they have it available that day. Yum! I highly recommend visiting if you want hot, fresh, fast, delicious food. Also, Katie, you and the cooks were gems. Love the print and the fact you were there to tell me some backstory behind it. Thank you!

Nice fish fry, dine outside/window order only August 2020. Walleye very good and fries are good too!! Cheese curds good too. Herring sandwich was good and their coleslaw was good. The service was good too. Herring was over all great but one bite was a little fishy where the skin/dark area - can’t down grade for one bite the rest was good!!

Needed a light lunch. Put our name in at Angry Trout - which looks awesome - and then found this place. Didn't need a big meal so ended up being perfect. Hubby had shrimp meal, we shared the fish chowder and I had the whitefish. The fish was so fresh, it melted in your mouth. His shrimp was also amazing. And, the chowder was fabulous. Sat outdoor on the back porch and truly enjoyed it. Was perfection. Had choice of three fresh fish that day - whitefish, herring and trout. Do it!
