I just received my order from Boundary Waters coffee. I was so excited to taste the coffee that I immediately made a cup of the North Shore Snickerdoodle. This coffee is AMAZING. It is not harsh, it's full of flavor, & it brews well in my Keurig reusable cup. I'm so happy to find a great coffee and be able to support a small MN based business.

Loved this store and brought back memories of the old Ben Franklin that was in my hometown growing up. Lots of craft supplies and camping stuff.

This place is awesome! I am overwhelmed every time I go in here at all the products they carry. Their prices are very reasonable too! The new owners have done a great job of maintaining the old and bringing in some new items. The coffee is my main purchase every trip. It is by far the best!!! If you haven't tried it, you are missing out!

Very disappointing, never gave 1star before, I guess the new owners no longer stand behind what they sell. I tried to return a defective pair of sandles. Grossly over dyed turned everything black. Feet, carpeting, tub. Local store where I shopped for 50 years and have liked the products and services

There are a lot of little treasures in Grand Marais, and Joynes is definitely one! It's a small-town department store, so it has a little bit of everything, but its quality is superior. Great selection of sweatshirts and hoodies and other souvenirs. They sell top quality shoes and jackets and even have Dale of Norway sweaters, if you are not familiar with it, you're not ready for it. ;) And they sell top quality whole bean or ground coffee! Don't overlook this downtown must see.

Great little store with a bit of everything. Try the locally roasted coffee - it’s great!

WEIRD...followed us all over the store. Asked me if I wanted help 7 times. Store stunk like "sniker-doodle coffee" that gave me a headache. Used to have everything. Now they have annoying employees. What happened?

I love this store. and have all my life. HOWEVER, as of late, it’s been lacking in the LEGO department. a whole shelf dedicated to star wars?? listen, i like star wars as much as the next guy but PLEASE get some Ninjago sets up in there! Ninjago is the best LEGO genre, and the fact that my favorite department isn’t even acknowledging it, leaves me highly offended! #love #Ninjago4evaEdit: they added Ninjago, guys, the world is saved. 10/10 store, highly recommend, has everything you could ever want. Thanks for being such a nostalgic place for me!

I agree with the person who asked what happened to the store... their selection used to be geared toward everyone and now I'm afraid they gear it toward the tourist. Shame, because it was a fun store before.

Great selection for the crafter and quilter! Didn't realize they had a full-on craft store in the back corner. Check it out!

They REQUIRE you to let them spray your hands with some unknown sanitizer to enter. If you don't let them spray you they won't let you in. What's next, you can only enter if you're white, or vaccinated, or showered? #whathappentocivilrightsI will never support this place, I reccomend you don't either.

I was so happy to find out that the owners of this store were previously the owners of the White Birch shop. I have fond memories of going into the White Birch store and seeing the holiday decorations. They always had a unique collection of teas and fresh ground coffee. I recommend to try the Snickerdoodle, my mom always buys some when we are in Grand Marais. I was excited for my mom to find out that they had purchased this Ben Franklin so my mom could get her coffee. I hope that they bring back the boutique tea pots and dishes and also the Candy selection! They also had a collection of unique clothes that were really nice. I am looking forward to see the new selections they add as I come up and visit again and again.

An excellent, all-around store in Grand Marais, with a rich history and busy, yet organized, atmosphere. They stock everything from soup to nuts, and they are particularly known for their well-made winter clothing lines, shoes, boots, sandals, and outdoor cooking supplies. Many categories of goods ensure that you will not leave empty-handed. Prices are reasonable, and significantly lower than some other merchants near the same street.

Love shopping at the Ben Franklin Store. We had to come back a second day just to look at everything. Lots of fun!

Absolutely over priced, and not so Minnesota nice staff. I was floored when I found out the coffee beans they were selling were roasted out of Illinois, and $20 a pound! Get over yourselves Joyner!

Just a fun place to shop. They have just about anything you may be looking for. My favorite is the craft area. Wait, It might be the souvenir area I can't decide.. They also have a wide variety of clothes. It reminds me of the good old days. I hope this store stays open for a long time.

They have everything from a $25 flannel shirt to a nice $300 sweater, kids toys, camping gear, odds and ends, shoes, sweatshirts and t-shirts. I've bought something every time I have gone in, today it was a great pair of hiking socks.

I wouldn’t shop there right now. I had one employee come to the back of the store where I was trying to choose some Minnetonka slippers and she literally trolled me - telling me to pull my mask higher. So strange. It might be easier for the store to just take temperatures as shoppers come in. Does anyone care if you’re healthy or only how your masks fits your face??Ps we appreciate the owner responding. Maybe speak to employees and remind them that when customers come in with masks on its because they’re respectful - no need to follow them - it’s embarrassing. I was wearing my mask properly but was all the way in the back and no one was anywhere near me So I quick pulled it under my nose to get a good breath. Right then the employee told me to pull it up 😞. I looked around and there were no other customers near and I felt faint. We’d been on the pier for a long time prior in 85 degree weather and I have low blood sugar. I certainly will pray for your business - we understand small business. God bless.

It’s validating to see other people have had similar experiences with the employees according to the other reviews. Staff is super disrespectful and stalked us through the store as though we were delinquents. I’m guessing they’ve had problems with theft or something before but that doesn’t excuse staff aggressively asking if I plan to buy something or just “hang out in their store”… (I was reading through the cards trying to pick one.) I’ve stopped here every time I come through grand marais since I was a kid, but not after today. Ended up spending my money at the Trading Post instead because they didn’t harass me while I was shopping and their stuff is much more reasonably priced!

Wifey and I were about to try snowmobiles for our very 1st time. Every single employee in this store jumped in to ensure we got all the apparel we needed, and wished us well on our adventure. Such exquisite customer service. We are MUCH beholden to you wonderful people. Cheers!

We have come to this store every time we come up to the area. Thank you for taking care of your employees and customer. My family feels safe when we are in town and it is because you and other businesses have been considerate with your approach to the pandemic. We are trying to be safe and glad to see that Grand Marais is trying too.

The employees who run this store are extremely rude and very strange. They seem to have a theft issue as they have employees uncomfortably watching you as you shop. My husband and I separated in the store to look at various items. We each had one of our children with us. At the end, we met each other and each had a rude/strange interaction with one of the employees. At that point we just decided to leave the store and not purchase anything. I would say this was a fluke but almost this identical situation happened 2 years ago when we visited this store. Save your time and go to another store! There are so many others to choose from! They are ageist and racist.

Fun to browse if you're stopping at all the shops for the day. Its filled with stuff you can probably live without. I bought a shirt off the clearance rack because I needed to change into something cooler ASAP. I took the tag off right there on the sidewalk and then noticed it was torn under the arm. I wore it anyway but I still felt bad I bought a defective shirt, it shouldn't have been out for sale. A couple staff I've encountered are grouchy old ladies but the others have always been sweet.

Best shoe selection on the North Shore. It is a mini department store with a little bit of everything. Highly quality apparel. Store looks great since new owners or management took over in the last few years.

This place has everything you may need from undergarments, delicious camp chow, craft supplies, to toys and clothes. It appeals to the locals as well as a great spot for travelers. Last 4th of July, no other place in town had food coloring (since I guess it's not frequently used enough in the Summer) but to my surprise Joynes Ben Franklin had it!!

This place has everything you'd expect from a small town department store, from flannel shirts and outerwear to native wild rice. Focusing mostly on seasonal clothing, we always pick up something we forgot to pack -- warm slipper socks, an extra shirt, rain gear. Prices are reasonable.

This little department store may be small, but it has anything you will need while visiting Grand Marais. Selection is above average and the staff is courteous and attentive. Please be mindful of the early closing times. They are though on par with the rest of the town.
