The best employee/manager ever! Give her a raise for being so nice! Se far local tips and info. The shop is so unique and fun’s lots of local crafts and hand made items ❤️❤️. Some antiques. I loved seeing the creativity in there! We bought a few pair of ear rings. Cool place!

Overall the store and items are fun and very useful and beautiful- if I didn’t have the experience i had I would financially invest into the store. However if you are a professional artist of color or coming from a different area (I.e metropolitan) I do not recommend selling your artwork here or investing your money. It was very unclear directions, lack of professionalism by showing up to meetings on time and unwelcoming environment with too much midwest “niceness” not the “charm”. If the process was clearer and a system put in place would really be helpful but I ended up crying and feeling highly uncomfortable. I do not think they are rascist at all however have an opportunity to be more culturally competent and sensitive towards people not from the area.I really hope eventually they get some diversity training because everywhere else in grand Maria’s did not make me feel that way even when I experienced micro aggressions which I could tell was just lack of exposure.Updated response from message from joy and company:Hello thank you for responding- it is not a specific culture ma’am it is having some competency as it can be seen in your response is an opportunity for you. None of this specific information of what you wanted it to look like was provided. For example creating a simple checklist that you send over once you approve artists that way they know what you are looking for and communication was clear- if you thought my artwork didn’t fit your area you could have also just told me that then to agree and it’s not what you wanted.I wish you the best and hope others do not have the experience I had because it was a really beautiful store just clearer professional communication is needed.

Walked in, no greeting. I noticed other people were IMMEDIATELY greeted and with a very cheerful "hello"Walked BY the register, nothing. The people BEFORE and AFTER me were also acknowledged. How light does one need to be? 🤔 brown, keep walking by. Light gets a "hi"

I tend to dabble in a lot of crafts and this store was an amazing surprise. I walked in expecting it to just be a fun gallery of local art and walked into a an immersive art haven. They have supplies for a painting, sketching, print making, inking and collage making and way more. They also allow your children to color with chalk on the floors whilst you are looking and the staff are very kind.

The wonderful women at this store went out of their way for me after I purchased the wrong item in error. Even tho they have a no returns policy they really helped me out and saved my shopping trip. I really enjoy this store and the goods they offer

This store is a delightful mix of antiques and art. The building, which is an old Chevy dealership has been transformed into a wonderful creative space, with not just art for sale, but with opportunities to make art. Inside is the lunch counter of an old ice cream parlor, chalk to color on the floor, an amazing mosaic and so much more. The folks that work there are the artists themselves. It is a funky, fun, place to visit.

So many different artists sell unique items at this store. It was a fun place to browse. I was able to purchase unique gifts. They had a ton of vintage items too, that was fun to look at. It'll be worth it to go back in the future because it's always changing.

This is a very cool place we stop here every year before heading into the bw. Lots of neat things perfect store to pick up something different then the same shirts you can get at 3 different stores. They have a very cool rock section in a unique way. Definitely take the time to stop here the workers are nothing but sweet and very helpful.

We stop here each time we visit Grand Marais. It is fun to browse their vintage collection as well as all the little sections that display handmade goods by local artisans. They also have a large selection of art supplies which is worth checking out.

This place is an artist's dream.Their selection easily outmatches any of that in art stores in the Twin Cities, both in terms of variety in things sold/variants of those things. Think walls and walls of every kind of pen, brush, marker, pencil, paint, sketchbook, paper, and specialty artesan tool you can think of.I personally use a variety of professional level tools for my art business, including Jaquard Lumiere paints, Tombow brush pens, and Japanese Micron pens. I have never been to a store that had not only all of these tools in those high-quality brands, but every single kind of them, en masse, and in good shape. I have found stores with my obscure Jaquard fabric paints in the Twin Cities, but only in less than five colors and they were dried up husks. Joy & Company had an entire rack of every imaginable shade, in variants of metallic, Neopaque, and other shades. Add on to that an entire wall of more paints, all them clearly not dried up and well-kept.The dream doesn't end here either. Relive younger days of drawing in satisfying colors with their huge and varied rack of Gelly Roll gel pens. Delve into the walls and walls of markers and Faber Castell products. Flip through the large variety of lined, watercolor, and other sketchbooks. Drool over the college-class quality acrylic paints. I could go on forever. Did I mention there is also an antique shop within this artist's haven?They have an online shop, which I know I'll be taking advantage of.Don't let the perhaps unassuming look of this shop on the outside fool you. If you're either a fledgling or professional artist, you will find joy here.

Art supplies and old and new crafts. Antique clothing. Every room in a delight. Put on a vinyle record in the lounge (you have to find it first) and than pick out some Action Comics post cards. Nice way to spend the morning.

Friendly & had most of the oil paints I needed. Clean & neat. However, the prices were sky high. I have never paid $30 for a small tube of paint before in my life. If you’re headed North to paint, check your supply before you travel. My bad. I won’t forget again.
