I stayed in Loons Nest with my friend after a week in the BWCA and it was perfect! It's like a small apartment. Everything is updated and felt homey. I love the eco minded products and extra touches-- like the tooth brushes, access to fans, light and dark towels, soaps etc. I would definitely stay here again and told 3 other friends about the location. Great price and love supporting a small business!

I've stayed here a few times and will always come back! It's always nice to be able to bring my dog along as well. It's quiet, private, easy to walk places, and just comfortable. Highly recommend staying here!Rooms: The Robin's Nest is spacious snd has many places to sleep if needed.Walkability: It's possible to walk everywhere due to the location!Noteworthy details: It's always clean and there are considerate little additions such as soaps, tea, oatmeal, Fika coffee etc. I love it here!

Jourdan at Feathernest walks the walk and isn't all talk. We got a last minute booking and stayed in the Owl and it was perfect. The Feathernest claims to support sustainable and local practices and did not disappoint! The products, the policies, and the hospitality were exactly what we were looking for. We'll be back next year! Thank you so much for everything!

Great stay…..pleasantly surprised by all of the thoughtful touches to make a visit more welcoming and comfortable…..very clean…..if you’re looking for a modern facility, this isn’t it….. but if you want the rustic cabin vibe conveniently located to downtown Grand Marais, this inn should be considered. I would not hesitate staying here again. Oh, the friendly and responsive owner was truly appreciated!

The Hummingbird Nest felt warm and welcoming immediately when I stepped in. So many nice touches, a comfortable mattress, and even a Netflix subscription. Heather is a wonderful host with prompt communication. I was also grateful to find a place at this price that is pet friendly since not many are. My cat and I were very comfortable. Glad I stayed here!

It's nice enough for the value, like the bird inspired names for each room. They have a fire pit out front. Very bare bones, could use more light in the rooms. Very close to the water which is phenomenal. Lots of little shops and places to eat within walking distance. Just know things close early so get out in the morning and have dinner before it gets too late.

The Feather Nest Inn is a charming shabby-chic motel within walking distance of popular eateries and The Folk Art School. The owners take very good care of the rooms and my wife and I both remarked on how clean the rooms were. Our room had a living area with a TV and kitchenette separate from the bedroom, which had a full and twin size bed. The only real negative aspect of our room was that the bedroom windows did not have screens so we kept them closed and it got hot and stuffy with two adults and two kids sleeping in one room. Also, the lighting was a bit dark, but otherwise we loved our room and would come back again. The owners are very friendly, thoughtful, and responsive. We loved our stay!

First stay at a 'boutique' motel - it was fabulous! So many creative touches unique to our suite. The owner clearly spends a lot of time & care on the details, so as a guest, you have everything you need. Worth the price, highly recommend, we will stay here again!

Unfortunately this was a horrible place to stay. The rooms are old and outdated. The owner, while nice enough, is clearly not in the correct line of work. Very very disorganized. Talked with other guests in other rooms and heard other details. Rooms were not cleaned adequately. Hairs in bed, socks under beds, dust in bowls on the dining table, cobwebs in bathroom, etc. We arrived to an old refrigerator sitting outside a room which was a big eye sore. There's no sense of hospitality with cleaning. In fact, they expect you to clean the room before leaving... Other guests told us that the owner made mistakes with the amount of nights they booked. Apparently chipmunks get into rooms sometimes as well as the screen doors do not always reach the bottom. No soap in bathtub. No shampoos. No tissues! Those are basic things they could do. Very very disappointed.

Overall a very cute place, has a motel-type feel. Hosts were easy to work with, and location is very convenient and walkable to town. The walls were a little thin in our unit and could hear the neighbors conversation in our bedroom at night, but that was the only thing that came up.

This place lived up to our expectations and more. Very clean kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom with plenty of space for two people. Location was only a couple blocks from the shore and other downtown shops. Affordable, and provided resources for hiking and other activities. We did think we were booking a cabin, but it turned out to be more of a motel with all units attached.

A simple place with charm and more than enough for on-the-go travelers. The owners were so nice and suggested things to do and places to eat, etc. The fridge was cold, the stove was hot, the bedroom and living room gave us more than enough space. The rate ain't bad either. Yes I was there with a beautiful girl but I swear that didn't effect my perception...just don't tell her that!

Wonderful motel one block up the hill from the harbor. Close to The Angry Trout, Dockside Fish Market, Voyaguer's Brewing, and more! Lovely rooms - we stayed in the Chickadee Nest, with a bedroom, bath, living room, and kitchenette, with our 1 year old and dog. Will stay here every time we're in town as long as they have a room!

Our place to stay for our yearly trip. Just awesome! Heather is great. It's just out of the main strip and easy to walk to town. Dockside is just down the road and is a great place to get some Fresh fish

The Loon's Nest is very cute! Jourdan has thoughtfully curated all the little details. The location can't be beat. It's an easy walk to most of town's restaurants and shops. Highly recommend this spot for your next getaway.

Was cleaner than we were expecting besides the apple core and water bottle that were sitting on the kitchen counter when we checked in. We were supposed to stay 2 nights but our room was very cold. It did not get above 58 degrees in our room so we did not sleep hardly at all the first night. I understand it was very cold out as it was the end of December but it was miserable. We decided not to stay the 2nd night we had paid for because it was so miserable. The owner never offered anything as far as refunding us the 2nd night that we didn’t stay. I would say if you are planning on staying here don’t go it the middle of winter.

This is a nice spot to stay in Grand Marais. It is only two blocks away from restaurants and the lake. It is nothing fancy, but it was clean and well kept up inside. There is on site parking right by your door. There are porch swings available to use right outside your door. There is NO AC, which is fine about 90% of the time in Grand Marais, but we happen to go when it was very warm and sleeping was warm. A fan is provided though. The TV had no service, just a roku device that did not seem activated. Free WiFi is included which was great. Check in and out is a snap. You can go straight to your room and the keys will be waiting for you on the table. When you check out, just leave the keys on the table and you can go on your way.

Very nice little place! They were doing some improvement on the room next door, so it was a little noisy at times, but still a great experience! The room was very spacious even for 5 people! Definitely a great spot!
