I'm glad we discovered this place. It has everything you need. Best location to see the sunrise and explore deep in your thoughts while getting that solar energy with a nice cup of coffee. The room is beautiful and spacious. Honestly, you don't need to drive to explore around Grand Marie once you are here. Walking distance to different businesses and the beautiful Artis Point. š

My husband and I had originally booker an air bnb, but it got sold 2 months before our trip. We ended up booking a room here and I am SO GLAD we did! You are right in town, on the beach. Worlds Best Donuts are right next door, the Cook County Market happens in the parking lot across from the hotel. The service was amazing, everyone was so kind and they were very prompt. I think the only downside to our stay is we were right above the boiler room, so our room was about 79°F when we showed up. There is no AC, however with the lower summer temperatures up here, it all worked out fine! Definitely recommending them to our friends and family, and I hope we can come back sometime!Rooms: The bed was comfy, everything was clean, and the floors were cool!Walkability: You are right in "downtown" Grand Marais, you can walk anywhere in pretty much under 10 minutes!

Each suite has an owner. Some suites are nice, others not so much. They are all very loud and the staff does nothing to enforce the 10:00pm to 8:00am quiet time. Our first night we had to listen to people on the bottom floor patio until well past midnight. Another night there was a party in the room above us going well past midnight. One day, the couple below us left their dog in the room alone all day and it whimpered and barked the entire time. Kids randomly run through the halls. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, excluding the mgr, but they could only do something about the noise after the fact. Lots of dogs and donāt count on the other guests to be considerate. Considering the price of the rooms, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.Oh yeah, the a/c didnāt work.Noteworthy details: Very loud.

This is my second winter staying here. The location is perfect. Make sure you get a room facing the lake. It may cost more, but totally worth it. The room is so cozy. A very well stocked kitchen. I only wish I brought a better knife for cooking. The heated floors are a nice feature. The dual fireplace is lovely. I donāt think I would even consider another place to stay in Grand Marais.

I'm usually partial to hotels that have that hot breakfast waiting for you in the morning.. but my mind has been changed because of everything else that was offered. This is my third time in Grand Marais, and the third place we've tried. I fell in love with our little suite. We had the cutest little kitchen, a pull out bed so that we could enjoy actual sitting space when we weren't sleeping, and a warm fireplace! I was impressed with the small stuff - our room had puzzles, hot chocolate, popcorn, and even a box fan for white noise. We were right next to the water with our own little balcony to enjoy the views. Plus, we were within walking distance of literally anything be it food, gas station, or even the shops. I thought this was the cutest hotel and was happy with the staff interactions, cleanliness, accommodations and our stay in general. We've found our annual stay location.

We had a 1 bedroom suite and it was perfect! Full size kitchen, comfortable furniture, bathroom with shower and stand alone tub, and a balcony with great views of the lake. Fireplaces are electric but put out some nice heat and ambiance anyway. Location is perfect; close to several shops, restaurants, and within 20 minutes of Lutsen mountains and various other outdoor adventures!

We rented the 3-BR suites for our 3 days stay in Grand Marais. The check-in process was easy, and the staff was friendly. If one needs to use the cart, one must park the car in the back lot to have access to the luggage cart and the use of the elevator. The hallway is narrow and "twisty" at some places to navigate the cart. The room is spacious, albeit the wall is kind of thin. The WiFi could be better (I know: you're on vacation and need to unplug. My argument: if a place provides WiFi access, I expect the service to be good). The water pressure is good and the hot water is hot! The lighting in the kitchen could be brighter (track lighting does not help) as we do use it to prep our meals. The nice touch: the hotel provide a list of items that you can select if you need to have more - just fill out the list, place in the provided basket and leave it outside of your room when you leave in the morning exploring the area. The view of Lake Superior is fantastic and we experienced a beautiful moonrise last evening. We'd come back here again.

Absolutely fabulous rooms, view, location. We had a two bedroom, two bath. Full kitchen and living room. Two balconies with great views. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. You can walk to any shop, restaurant or bar, even the post office. The hotel has a lakeside fire every night and provides supplies for sāmores! We loved it!

We stayed in a one-bedroom suite overlooking the East Harbor at Grand Marais. The room was quiet, well-furnished (complete kitchen), and very comfortable. Service from the front desk was excellent. We were honeymooning, and it was absolutely the best experience we've had in a hotel in many years. Well worth the time to get there. Terrific views of Lake Superior, centrally located in town and for all that, quiet, spacious, and comfortable.

So many reason why this is a 5 star review, the room was amazing, our view looked right out over the water, our walkout porch had a cute table and chairs to relax at, just mere steps from our porch were 2 Adirondack chairs right by the beach and water. Our bedroom window looked out over the water as well and when you opened up your windows you could hear the waves and the seagulls, it was the greatest to wake up and fall asleep to.Location was perfect for walking just about anywhere in Grand Marais we wanted to go, the gem of this location was our front desk guest services guy Dennis, he was wonderful, he was helpful, polite and so gracious, which was the hook for us, without great guest relations you are just another place to stay, he made our anniversary trip with his detailed suggestions of things to do not only in the area, but in Grand Portage as well, worth the trip a bit further north weāll worth it.We will definitely be back!!!

This was our first time staying here, and we LOVED it! We chose the place for its proximity to shops, restaurants, and most importantly, the lake. Hearing the waves crashing from our room while sitting by the fireplace was a dream, and being able to open our door and walk to the lake would have been a delight if not for the rain. If we had had a dog, this would have been such an ideal situation. The space was great; the kitchen was well-supplied, the bathroom was clean and spacious, and the bedroom was just the right size.Bonuses we didn't expect were fresh popcorn with tons of seasonings, DVDs to borrow, and board games to play. Oh, and the frozen Sven and Ole's Pizzas for purchase! We will be back at every opportunity. Thanks for the great accommodations!

What a wonderful place to stay! Staff was above great! I canāt wait to come back. Clean, beautiful, we had lake views with the beautiful sound of Lake Superior waves all night long, not to mention the deck view of the stars! The beds were so comfortable, I slept so well. We had everything we needed plus there are bicycles to ride around town, movies, popcorn and music night!!Really I was sad that we hadnāt booked for a longer time. Sandra E

Probably the most expensive place to stay in Grand Marais, but also probably the best place. The views from our ground floor rooms were awesome. The suites are comfortable. The furniture is in good shape. Staff quality varies from person to person but overall is attentive. There is some lack of detail to things (we attempted to use the gas grill but it was really dirty, I'm still not sure what the cleaning policy is), but overall it's a nice place to stay.

Loved the views, employees were very nice, the rooms were clean. Kitchen had a little of everything for cooking, with regular size stove, refrigerator, dishwasher. We will be back. It was so nice to have a place to comeback to when we were tired. Just make dinner (or order pizza), hangout play games, talk. There was a tv but never turned it on.

I'm sure we all feel the need to get away after the year we've all had! We were feeling in desperate need for a getaway and decided to book a 5 night trip to Grand Marias.1. The hotel rooms are AMAZING. We went in off season (April) and many of the restaurants were closed or had very limited hours - we were in a suite and it had a kitchen. We made most of our breakfasts and dinners at the hotel. The in-suite kitchens had everything we needed (and more) for all the food we made!2. The fact that this was a dog friendly hotel without much restriction really gave the hotel a special place in my heart. My dog loved the outdoor space with the beach steps from the back door. I loved that when I left the hotel without doggy bags I could just go to a station outside of the door instead of going back into my suite.3. WiFi was good, I had no issues.4. The bed, at least in suite 105, was very uncomfortable after day 2. I'm thinking it was just old - very lumpy. That's the only reason I took a star off. If I only stayed the night for 2 nights I wouldn't have cared but since it was 5 nights of sleeping on the mattress it was brutal.I would 100% stay at this hotel again. In fact, I'm already looking at dates in September.

We've been coming every summer for almost 15 years. The location is fantastic - on the beach AND in town, and the full kitchen, washer/dryer, and multiple bedrooms works well for our family. The option to build campfires on the beach is appreciated by the kids. There are some signs of wear that are in need of maintenance. They are doing a good job of COVID precautions. They make it easy to get amenities refreshed without having to let people into rooms through a basket and laundry bag system.

First the good, the kitchen is really nice utensils. The beach view is awesome and I love that I could bring my dog, the staff is friendly and the town of Grand Marais is so cool. The bad experience...Had a group of college kids come stay in the room above us. The walls and floors in this place are thin and we can hear their party pretty clearly until 3 am. The noise gave dogs anxiety and they started barking. Called the front desk to see if they would do anything and they told us to talk to them. The construction in some areas, like the bathroom doors isn't wonderful and you can hear other people opening their bathroom doors.Overall I'd deffinatly stay here again but if I saw a group of kids go into the room above me I'd pack my things and go camping.

We had an amazing three bedroom suite. It was the prefect place to stay. The only minor complaint would be that the āfireplaceā was nothing more than an electric flame and put out no heat. But otherwise the room was perfect. We would stay here again for sure.

The location was amazing. The staff was friendly and eager to help with even the smallest requests. The room was clean and fully ready when we arrived. The only things that seemed to fall short was temperature control. While it is fall, the room would reach 78 degrees with the heat off. No cooling option seemed to work. We opened the windows which brought in the sound and smells of Northern Minnesota, it did little to cool without a breeze. The bed was a tad small and a little stiff. Even so, it did little to lower the experience for me.

Unfortunately, this hotel is not accurate in their advertising, so beware. We rented a Studio Village View room, and expected a murphy bed, per the photographs on their website. We were disappointed to find that our room had a regular bed. This severely limited the space we expected to have. When my girlfriend brought this up to the front desk, the woman working laughed it off & said it was just easier for them to have their website appear as if all the Studio Village View rooms are similarly equipped. Of course, we were charged the same rate as a room with a murphy bed. That we were the victims of an unethical business practice is bad enough, but to have the staff laugh it off was particularly galling. We love going to Grand Marais, and it's difficult to procure affordable lodging there, but we will be avoiding this hotel whenever possible in the future when we aim to hang out in this beautiful area. This business knowingly misrepresents itself & doesn't seem to care at all. Quite a disappointing experience.

An amazing and comfortable home-away from-home. The best location, right on the lake, what a view! Full kitchen with all the utensils, cozy living room with full bookshelves, and a lovely soaking-size tub. Not just dog friendly, but dog-welcoming! Blankets, towels, and bowls in the room, and water and towels at all the doors.

Just had a snow getaway vacation. We decided on the East Bay Suites for the location, how modern the rooms looked and the variety of activities. The heated floors in our room was so nice to come home to. We had a small room, possibly the smallest, and it was very cozy. Just enough room for two. Could have made food but with the variety of GREAT places in town we ate out. Friendly staff, always have great suggestions on places to see and eat, it was a very good vacation.

I love this place!!! My second time staying here and the room and view is just amazing! Our air is broken so someone is coming to fix it tomorrow. Kinda sucks they can't come asap but I understand. We just have to sleep with the windows open. Dog friendly! Also they give you a whole smores and bonfire kit for free it's amazing! Also the free popcorn night was great. I love all the games and movies. I would definitely recommend and will stay here again! Also everyone here is so friendly. Nothing better than getting woke up by the smell of fresh donuts. Also an easy walk through the town and to artist point.

It is a great location at the end of the dead end of Main Street! Views of the bay and right across from World's Best Donuts and only 2 blocks away from Java Moose coffee and 3 blocks from Voyageurs Brewing and 6 blocks from Harbor House restaurant (and lots of galleries). No pool but lots of rocks to collect and agates to search for on the beach. Nice clean large rooms with balconies and full kitchen.
