Dr Samari and Lee Samari are an unbelievable team. Experienced, compassionate, knowledgeable. What an asset to Grand Marais! Called us in May when we lost our Brittney to dual laryngeal paralysis, reaching out to us at a very important time when our senior dog died. Now with our new 12 week old puppy, Cedar Grove was our first stop for a puppy check, shots, nail clipping, chipping and some free puppy handling tips. We’ll be back for her slaying in December. They’re amazing. You can trust going to them. We would drive 100s off miles for them to be our vet—and do! 🙂lol

I recently relocated to Thunder Bay, Ontario with my pug, Miley. I was shocked to learn that all veterinary clinics here were not accepting new patients for two years or more with no cancellation or waitlist provided. The only other option was to travel to Kenora, Dryden, Fort Frances or Grand Marais, Minnesota.I chose Grand Marais as it was considerably closer than the other options. When I arrived at Cedar Grove Veterinary Clinic, I was greeted by the kindest technician, who quickly made me and my distressed little pug feel very comfortable. First impressions are very important!When Dr. Samari entered the examination room, I was overwhelmed by his friendly and humorous demeanour. His examination of Miley was extremely thorough and, further to the required annual shots, he brought to light a few medical concerns she was experiencing. I was sent home with precise instructions and medications for clearing up a troubled skin condition and ear infection that I was not aware of.My experience at Cedar Grove was refreshingly more positive than what I've experienced with big city vets, who lack that personal touch and overall empathy. The excellent camaraderie between staff was evident at Cedar Grove and I could tell that everyone enjoyed their jobs. The small-town vibe was endearing and, above all, Miley and I were made to feel like guests.Thank you Dr. Samari and staff! You were all well worth the drive to Grand Marais!

I called this vet clinic at 10 p.m. on a Thursday night. I was concerned about my 13.5 year old Golden Retriever that had been throwing up, wobbling, and eyes were shaking. Within 3 minutes Dr. Samari called me back and calmly explained to me what was likely going on. I was so appreciative of him taking the time to give me suggestions of what to do. His advice and kindness helped to give our dog relief and helped to give me a stress free night. I am so appreciative of his knowledge and help! I will definitely be recommending his services in the future!

In May, 2022 we went to Cedar Grove for an emergency with our old beagle. She had to be put down. The entire staff could not have been more compassionate, especially Dr. Samari.Yesterday we were back with our 12-week-old English springer spaniel pup. Again, the staff was superb - especially Dr. Samari. It's well worth the drive from Thunder Bay!

Our little Yorkie had an emergency over the holiday weekend, and we called this clinic after hours and left a message. Dr. Samari immediately got back to us and sent us to an emergency veterinary hospital in Duluth, which was able to treat our dog. We called Dr. Samari backthe next day to thank him, and he said he would be available for followup if needed. Our cabin is hundreds of miles away from home and it is good to know that we have good resources available on the North Shore. (Our little girl is doing well now and sharing my lap with my computer as I type this.)S Smith

We happened upon Cedar Grove because our dog got hurt out in the wilderness, but I ended up going the 6 hours back for a teeth cleaning (and bonus Grand Marais trip) because I loved them so much.The place was incredible in an emergency and just as wonderful in working with us for a return. Wish he could be our primary vet.

I’m from Canada and we were having trouble finding a vet (all vets in our area haven’t taken new patients for years) for our female Rottweiler puppy (she’s almost 2) her name is Nala. Our current situation forced us to drive almost 4 hrs west to the next nearest Vet. It becomes a whole day ordeal. Anyways, I heard other people had been going south of the border to Grand Marais for all of their Veterinarian needs, so we gave it a shot. First and only call was to Cedar Grove Veterinary Clinic. They were so helpful. I was able to get an appointment the same day (probably won’t happen this way all the time). We made the 1.5 hr drive down and the staff was so inviting and caring. You could tell they really love animals. The Vet was a sweet man who walked me through everything. He gave me instructions on what my responsibilities would be with the different medications and took his time to make sure I really understood. This will be our Vet moving forward. And it’s really no contest. Great job, Cedar Grove.

Our dog spent most of yesterday at this clinic, not returning home until after 10pm. The doctor and staff were wonderful, caring and very helpful at communicating what was going on with our dog and how to care for him for further healing. They're very dedicated and don't go home until they're done for the day. There was another dog still being treated when we left. Highly recommend.

Dr. Samari and staff are as good as they come. We initially called Cedar Grove as an emergency service. Dr. Samari agreed to meet us there on a Sunday night after already driving 9+ hours that day. He was able to give our sweet girl some pain medication and anti-nausea until morning when he could further examine her. After his exam, he urged us to find critical care for our girl as she needed specific care. The clinic bent over backwards to help us through a very difficult few days; always having time for us. I have full trust in this clinic and would recommend it to anyone. They have huge hearts and always have the animal's best interest in mind.

We took our new puppy to see Dr Samari. He and his staff were fantastic. I have had dogs for over 15 years, and this was the best vet visit we have ever had. He is great with puppies and helped set us on the right path to shaping our dog's behavior into an adult we will be proud of!

I come up North on vacations a lot and my Golden Retriever ended up with the start of an ear infection 2 days into our 5 day stay at the cabin. Dr. Samari was very patient and kind with both my dog & I. We haven't had much luck with good vets in the cities. I wish we could make this our primary vet clinic!

We were visiting from out of town and our dog suddenly became lethargic. Dr. Samari answered our calls and met us on a Sunday. Unfortunately she passed before we could get to the clinic but he helped us with setting up cremation and was very caring and compassionate. The new vet is absolutely amazing! When Sancho became gravely ill the second time, we took him to Cedar Grove because our normal vet was closed. He was very thorough in his exam, read all his medical records, and even though the news was grave, he was able to give us a proper diagnosis, where as with the other vet we where told he was fine. Really grateful for this place.

Wow! What a great experience. We were in Grand Marais on vacation and our dog came down with an ear infection. We happened upon Cedar Grove Vet Clinic and are so glad we did. Dr. Samari took time to educate us, got our 8 year old son involved in the process and took great care of our lab.

Dr Samari and his staff are so good, my dog doesn’t even mind going to see him! My dog had CCL surgery with Dr. Samari in April 2019 and the procedure went extremely well, no complications, and pretty easy recovery. She was doing great within 4 months of the surgery and Dr Samari is now our regular vet!
