Receptionists not saving lost or found pets. Hanging up on customers. Not responding back to adoption/foster/volunteer/job applications. And generally just not caring about our pet family. I wonder if they are just scaming government funds and cash donations. Id rate it a negative 10 if I could. No satisfied customers that I know since 2015. Admin going to delete this rating and message?

I feel like I'm adopting a child from another country with the amount of invasive and unnecessary questions the staff asks. Then when you ask a simple question about why the animal has been there for a while or why they think an animal is touchy around other animals they divert and can't give a straight answer.

We adopted two cats from this humane society. The kitties have been really good, like typical kitties they have distinct personalities. The place was very clean and the one thing we decided to do when we picked cats was to not go to a pet store. The vet checks were a big plus, plus their personalities blended well in the family. I would suggest going to this place to see what they have and you will be surprised, and you may take home a new fur baby. It was a very good experience. Well my wife being the wonderful person she is decided to go get another kitty. This time she went and got a little girl. So now we have 5 cats. Uffda, but trust me if we had more room, I am thinking she would probably have taken all of them home. This place is wonderful to the animals and the staff seem to be very caring. Trust me it is a lot of work taking care of the animals. I worked at a humane society. If you get a chance go on the website and look at the faces if the animals. Worth a trip to Fergus. Great job guys.

The employees were friendly and great. We adopted a puppy from the Humane Society and he is great. They do take very good care of the animals in their care, as evidenced by how wonderful our puppy is in our home.

My first impression of Ottertail County Humane Society is excellent! The staff is very friendly and helpful, and you can tell immediately that they care very much for the animals in their care. Additionally, they have a great adoption application process with questions directed at what everyday life would be like for an animal adopted into your care, the property the pet would have access to and any possible dangers contained therein, and whether or not you have arranged veterinary services for your pets. These can greatly aid in finding family situations that best suit the pet's needs, rather than making adoptions simply because the pet is adorable! Shelter living can be stressful for pets without the added difficulty of failed adoptions and returns to the shelter, and I wish all shelters had this well developed application processes! The animals I viewed looked both healthy and happy, and I can only add that any pets who end up here are lucky to have this organization's support!

The staff was so great and helpful when we dropped off 2 larger and 7 little rescue puppies.The facility itself is lovely. Newer, clean and well maintained.

Our application for a cat we had very good intentions for was denied because our dog wasn’t spayed. That’s fine, but when my wife asked why, the woman over the phone ignorantly stated that it shows “how properly taken care of” our animals are. My wife proceeds to insist that she feeds our dog all natural food (not kibble) and that our house is a very nice size and the employee continues to imply that our dog not being spayed automatically indicates that we treat our animals poorly. Very unprofessional, unintelligent and hard headed. Questioning the rest of the good reviews on this place if this how this employee acts towards everyone. I am disgusted

My wife and I called about a dog we found abandoned in the country. It was severely emancipated and near death. We called several animal shelters including Ottertail Humane Society and their response was for us to call the sheriff's department. We called the sheriff's department who referred us back to the Humane Society. It is my personal belief that images of a starving and neglected dog are only photo ops for these organizations; don't fall for their cries for donations.

Unfortunately this place is always full. Don't bother asking if they can take an animal they never can and don't bother getting on their wait list they never call you. So much for them helping.

Visited the shelter today June 17th-2017. Staff was Friendly Courteous and Caring-very obvious as the dogs I 'd asked to walk went straight after the staff with tails a'waggin as I was walking them outside. A Most Pleasant and Enjoyable experience. The shelter is clean and the atmosphere is friendly. A Bunny named Carrot is the "Official Greeter". :)

My dog is on quarantine there. They treat their dogs very well, and everyone is nice. If you want, they'll let you go to the back to visit the dogs and see how they act when they aren't in a cage. They give as much information as they know about the dogs.

Nice shelter but I feel it's a little too much paperwork to adopt, slowing down the process. Didn't call me back to let me know they didn't approve. I had to call them several days later.

Kind staff can only pet cats through cage ATM so I wouldn't recommend it if you want to actually pet the animals
